Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram eye surgery

angiogram

Avatar n tn He ran a series of test and told her to return for an Angiogram on the eye with the Fovea. Why is an Angiogram necessary for this type of problem and if the Fovea is still there, is there a cure for it? What can they do for her Fovea? This discussion is related to Cataract Complication: Fovea leakage .
Avatar m tn Had cataract surgery on my left eye 3 weeks ago, was suppose to have right done 2 weeks ago but postponed due to issues with right eye. Vision seems to be getting worse, black spots appearing randomly, color is off and distance vision is not there. Doctor put in standard lens for distance. Just got back from Dr. today( 2 weeks after surgery) and he now seems troubled with what hes seeing.
Avatar m tn Has anyone been prescribed Nevanac eye drops for post Vitrectomy/ERM peel surgery ? I was prescribed to take this for 3 months (didn't even have the surgery yet) but the online medical information on it says not to take it for more than 14 days or there could be serious side effects. I'm not big on "blind faith" with what any Doctor just says, especially when it contradicts the warnings to this extreme.
Avatar m tn 1) yes, however, if a epiretinal membrane, Avastin or steroids can help. 2) Yes. 3) Depends on how successful the surgery is in removing the scar tissue. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn His Dr only said they would keep on eye on it. Dad is worried to death that it will mean another open heart surgery. Anyone heard of this happening? thank you!!
Avatar n tn Conventional wisdom suggests that visual acuity should be significantly improved by 3 months post-vitrectomy to peel an epiretinal membrane (aka ERM, macular pucker), although full visual recovery may take 6 months or longer. This was not the case for me. My first ERM surgery in 2006 was pretty much a nightmare. My surgeon used the older vitrectomy instruments that required sutures, and (unfortunately) he left the suturing to a resident.
344352 tn?1605238012 In 1986 I had an rd in my left eye which wasn’t fully developed and it didn’t survive the surgery. I have an appointment with my retinal surgeon tomorrow. I test myself with the grid and I see all the lines perfectly straight. I had an OCT 2 weeks ago when I first went to him with this issue. Nothing was seen on the test. But this area isn’t gone yet. It hasn’t gotten any larger but I’m 109% aware of it all The time.
Avatar f tn My retina detached twice before I had cataract and lense replacement surgery. When it got well enough, my doctor said I was ready for cateract and lense surgeery. During the cataract surgey the Dr. said "Oh no, I dropped it." Then he sent me back to my retina doctor for surgery to get the debris out of my eye. I think I remembered that and a couple of other things because they cut off the medication at that point. A while after that my retina detached again.
Avatar m tn About the only thing I have gotten from my Opthamologist is that I have degeneration of the retina - deeper and more degeneration in the right eye (which has the blind spot), but also some in the left eye. The blind spot is to the right of center. In trying to read the eye chart with my right eye, I have only been able to see the left side - and can only read the 1st two letters, and usually only about half-way down the chart.
Avatar f tn He said that I would need more surgery in my eye...surgery (for the scars I think is what he meant) and another one for cataracts. I told him about the light gray area and he said this concerns him and would need an OCT and angiogram done on me. I saw this second doc before the third. What do you think Dr, Hagan? 1) should I give it another month or two at least and see how it develops before seeing another retinal specialist?
Avatar n tn I have been given dilated eye exam 6 times plus twice was given fluorecent angiogram within less than one year time. One of the doctors had told me that I have retinopathy and some aneurysms. The second last time I went to see him, he gave me my second angiogram. After that, My eyes become very sensitive to light. Any sunlight, ipad glare, night lights, sometimes even room lights. it has been more than two weeks this condition still remains and I got headache while in the sun today.
Avatar n tn I have the choice of reading clearly with my right eye only, slowly reading distorted text with my left eye only, and not being able to read at all with both eyes open. I "expressed quite strongly" my exasperation regarding the lack of attention to my complaints to the doctor, who then ordered an OCT and regular visible light photos of my retina. The photos looked fine, but when he then looked at the OCT, he said "Oh, gee, we do have an explanation for this now!
1225678 tn?1267136608 I had been having trouble with my vision and headaches for about 2 years but no one seemed to know what the problem was until a CT scan, then a MRI, and then a Cerebral angiogram. I will be having surgery on the 8th of March. I have done a lot of research on aneurysm and am no longer afraid of it, however I am terrifed of surgery and it's risks. I am a need to know person. The more I understand things the better I feel. I seen the Neurosurgeon yesterday.
Avatar f tn I'm awaiting a call from the specialist who does remove the ILM and I will ask him about the dyes and their possible toxic effects. You seem very knowledgeable about eye problems. . I will post what he says and go friom there. Would appreciate your further comment when I get this info.
Avatar m tn Also, if you are still having symptoms after a normal Thallium stress test, normal protocol would be to proceed to an angiogram. Remember, a nuclear stress test has a 97% specificity meaning that 97% of patients with negative or normal results are actually negative, so someone with a normal result is pretty safe. False positives are much more common.
Avatar m tn Now Doctor has prescribed for Angiogram. He said he can suggest for treatment only after seeing the angiogram reports. Please help with your suggestion that whether we should go for angiogram. He is a diabetic patient since last 15 years and having high Blood pressure complaint since last 5 years.
Avatar f tn You will have to wait for the results of the angiogram. Blockages can be treated with bypass surgery, but in many cases with minimal invasive angioplasty (stenting) or with medication. Dependent on the outcome of the angiogram and taking into account your grandmother's physical condition and the fact that she has has bypass surgery before, the cardiologist will advise what the best option is.
359574 tn?1328360424 My 5 mm annie on the internal carotid has the ophthalmic artery coming out the side of it. The doctor who did my angiogram told me it wasn't treatable through endovascular means like coiling because it would cut off blood to the eye. The surgeon also told me a craniotomy and clipping is riskier than leaving it alone and monitoring it. At my one year follow-up, the CT Angiogram showed no changes.
Avatar f tn The new test that usually gives the answer is very easy to do and is called a macular OCT if that is indeterminate than a retinal fluoriscene angiogram (of the eye not brain and carotids) is usally done at the same time. I don't know where you live but retina ophthalmologists would not let your mom walk out the door without one or both tests being done. See if you get her to a retina MD tomorrow. ERs are not equipped to do this testing.
Avatar f tn Anyhow, two days before the test was taken I started having a sort of headache behind my right eye and after the angiogram I had very bad headaches that causeed nausea for 3 days straight. As well, I have had before some tingling sensations on my right hand side of my head and in my leg. These tingly sensations i have had off and on for about a year now though.
Avatar n tn in late april of 2010 it was discovered that i had a large horse shoe tear in the macula area of my left eye . i am 65 years old and have not any problems like this before. surgery was required to reattach the retina. the method used was the osclaren buckle. the retinologists told me the retina was reattached properly. two weeks after the surgery in post opt care the condition in my left eye got worse and i became partially blind in the macula area of my left eye.
Avatar m tn Does the epiretinal condition or surgery affect the risk factors of the cataract surgery and if so how? Is there any way to determine if I can use a newer more flexible implant in order to have monovision or will my right eye need the left to suppliment it because of the blind spots?
Avatar n tn an angiogram is the images taken using a catheter, injecting radio isotopes into the blood vessels to show up on an imaging system. As I've said before, all procedures carry some element of risk but some are obviously much lower than others. Angiograms are about the lowest you can get, but by law you have to be warned you could end up with a stroke or other organ damage if some plaque is knocked out of place.
