Avatar n tn He ran a series of test and told her to return for an Angiogram on the eye with the Fovea. Why is an Angiogram necessary for this type of problem and if the Fovea is still there, is there a cure for it? What can they do for her Fovea? This discussion is related to Cataract Complication: Fovea leakage .
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I am a nurse. My mom recently had gone to her Optomistrist noticing there was a change in her Left eye vision. She has quite deep Myopia as well. So what she describe it as: during focus/concentration at one spot the peripheral side of her left eye field of view is distorted, the lines especially become wavy. So then she was referred to go to her ophthalomogist.
Avatar m tn About the only thing I have gotten from my Opthamologist is that I have degeneration of the retina - deeper and more degeneration in the right eye (which has the blind spot), but also some in the left eye. The blind spot is to the right of center. In trying to read the eye chart with my right eye, I have only been able to see the left side - and can only read the 1st two letters, and usually only about half-way down the chart.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am 30 years young and have had a fluorescein angiogram about two weeks ago due to blurry/loss vision and change from far sighted all my life (with strabismus) to near sighted (of course I still have the strabismus) in my right eye. The cloudy blurriness I had is gone but the vision loss is the same. The retinal surgeon did find two layers of scar tissue and a big vein under that tissue, and a frawn of veins I believe he said, and some bleeding.
Avatar n tn I had a CT angiogram for heart this week. Compared to a regular angiogram or catheterization , the CT angiogram can be considered a noninvasive procedure. However, in your dad's case the CT angiogram may also be considered risky because of kidney problems. His kidneys may not be able to deal with the dye used for CT angiogram. I am not a doctor so here I am just giving advice based on my on experience.
Avatar m tn But first check with your health insurance carrier. Mine was willing to cover the angiogram but not the CTA. I opted to pay for the CTA out of my own pocket ($900). You mentioned you had a stress test. Was an echocardiogram involved? If you haven't had one, I would opt for that first. If you have, the next step is a nuclear stress test (same as the echo treadmill stress test except imaging the heart using readioactive dyes is used).
Avatar f tn I am now blind permanently in my left eye. I drank diet sodas all the time. They are pure poison. I lost the sight in both eyes for 4 months and was misdiagnosed with early macular degeneration. When my vision came back they were stumped. Said they never misdiagnosed it before. I went to Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA and finally understood that neutrasweet was the cause. Please Please stop using it and check every lable. I was even chewing a gum that had it in it.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Well the angiogram was normal.....as I expected. He wasn't going to commit to the neuro referral "yet" he said. He believes its RP. On another note I failed the two visual fields tests done that day. I'm very frustrated, because I can see fine. In the VF tests I can't distinguish between the flashing lights and the flashes I have all the time. I've told them that MANY times, but they insist that is the proper test.

359574 tn?1328360424 BUT, there is a new procedure that was recently approved for carotid and basilar annies that will likely be approved in the next few years for the ophthalmic ones. It’s called the pipeline embolization device. I’ve only read a very little bit about it so far. If we decide to treat it once that is available, it is one of those endovascular procedures—through the arteries, not the skull and brain, so that is good news.
Avatar f tn It makes a world if difference the training of the "eye specialists" you saw. Both should be Eye MD ophthalmologists not non MD optometrists. Ideally one would be an eye MD that specializes in retina/macula/vitreous. You should have some special tests: Macular and nerve fiber layer OCT, Amsler grid testing, visual field test. It is possible you might need a fluorescein angiogram. I suspect you have not had all these done, I would get them scheduled.
Avatar f tn had magnetic reasonnance angiogram no significant abnormalties found wats the definition of this doeas it say its clear or just ok wat were they looking for and have i any worries never explained didnt go bk 2 neurologist.
Avatar m tn It likely will not be able to sort out whether the BRVO was there before surgery and not with the cataract gone and the back of the eye more visible it can be seen now or whether it developed after surgery likely as a result of the high pressure in your eye. Yes BRVO has treatment options: Lasers, injections of VEGF inhibitors (Avastin, Lucentis) or steroids. Some BRVO does not require treatment. Suggest you get a second opinion from a retina specialist.
469349 tn?1217606941 there is no discharge from the eye, the left eye, where all the problem is, gets really pink and my vision gets cloudy, especially when my pain starts. Im schedule to have an angiogram this coming Wednesday, and Im hoping I can wait til there. If someone can let me know if this has to do with the fistula and what should I do, please comment.
Avatar f tn Hi john, thank you for taking the time to answer my question.I am booked in for an 'OCT Macular' next month which I assume is the angiogram you have mentioned. Is there any non-surgical treatment for a benign retinal cyst and what is the general prognosis?, I am worried that my vision will not improve and as I am a software engineer this is extra important for me.
Avatar n tn I guess if they have adequately treated the encephalitis, the cerebral atrophy should be stable now. The atrophy should not worsen. The best approach for treatment would be a regular non-ceasing physical therapy with additional occupational therapy from therapists who are specialized in children with such problems. We expect developmental delays across various skills, including speech. She will have to start speech therapy at appropriate age.
Avatar m tn Iam 31, 2 Months before i got the chest pain and I immediately rushed to the hospital. They did the ECG and found little changes in V4 - V5. And I went through the angiogram. The angiogram results shows negative. And doctor discharged from hospital with some prescription for 3 months. Still I am getting the pain in center of chest. Two days before I went to doctor and in ECG found the V6 changes in the lead.
Avatar f tn For about 5 weeks I have had unequal pupil sizes. The left eye they suspect is the one not working correctly as it is the larger one. Both eyes do not react as quickly to light as they should. I had a CT Angiogram that was negative. Then I started having headaches, nausea, and dizziness. So the neurologist sent me to the ER. They did another CT Angiogram that was negative. CBC that was fine and eye pressure test that was fine. They gave me a morphine shot and anti-nausea shot and sent me home.
Avatar m tn I had seen an eye doctor becuase of vision loss in my left eye, i had my eyes fully diolated, and went through an eye exam. About 4 -5 days they performed the Angiogram, injected the dye into my arm and started to take photos of the eye. they didnt see anything that stood out so i was refered to the eye hospital downtown. About a week later i went down there had a full diolation done, and another eye exam.
Avatar m tn My dosage of both was 4x per day for the first postoperative week, 3x per day for the second, 2x per day for the third, and once a day at bedtime for the fourth week. Since Nevanac is an NSAID, I think of it as "ibuprofin for the eyes". I had no difficulties with it. The online info I've seen indicates it usually is used for 14 days after cataract surgery, but I don't believe extending that for a longer period will typically cause problems.
Avatar n tn The angiogram is the best procedure and provides the most knowledge for blocked arteries. If needed, they can also measure the pressures in the valves during the angiogram. If you feel you have symptoms of blocked arteries, you should see your doctor.
Avatar n tn It appears just off the center (macula) of the eye in the +X +Y area using the Amsler Grid. Vision around the spot is intact. My visual acuity is 20/20 in both eyes without assistance. I had no headache, sinus issue, or other health related problem. I am also seeing bright light flashes when I move my eye either to the right or to the left. I have been to both an optometrist and a retinal specialst. I had a florusciene angiogram and a tomography scan performed.
Avatar m tn An epiretinal membrane can be stable. if on Floureseine angiogram there is leakage then the retina will deteriorate over time. The vision will slowly deteriorate if scar tissue is causing a tractional retinal detachment of the macular. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn Your natural blindspot for your left eye is to the left of your center of vision, and the blindspot for your right eye is to the right of your central vision. I can do the same exact thing you are telling me. I can make my middle of my finger dissapear and still see the top and bottom. I can make any object I put in that spot disappear. If you want to test it you could go here. http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/blindspot/ Just take your time until you get it down with both eyes.
