Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram eye test

angiogram

Avatar n tn I have been given dilated eye exam 6 times plus twice was given fluorecent angiogram within less than one year time. One of the doctors had told me that I have retinopathy and some aneurysms. The second last time I went to see him, he gave me my second angiogram. After that, My eyes become very sensitive to light. Any sunlight, ipad glare, night lights, sometimes even room lights. it has been more than two weeks this condition still remains and I got headache while in the sun today.
Avatar n tn He ran a series of test and told her to return for an Angiogram on the eye with the Fovea. Why is an Angiogram necessary for this type of problem and if the Fovea is still there, is there a cure for it? What can they do for her Fovea? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/224334'>Cataract Complication: Fovea leakage </a>.
Avatar f tn Anyhow, two days before the test was taken I started having a sort of headache behind my right eye and after the angiogram I had very bad headaches that causeed nausea for 3 days straight. As well, I have had before some tingling sensations on my right hand side of my head and in my leg. These tingly sensations i have had off and on for about a year now though.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist did an EKG, Echo, Stress Test, 21 Day Event Monitor and now wanted to do an invasive cath angiogram, However, I wanted a second opinion and the second cardiologist recommended a CT angiogram. I was much relieved by this option because I think it would be far too easy for my cardiologist while doing the cath angiogram to start throwing stents in even if they weren't completed needed.

Avatar f tn Macular and nerve fiber layer OCT, Amsler grid testing, visual field test. It is possible you might need a fluorescein angiogram. I suspect you have not had all these done, I would get them scheduled.
Avatar f tn The new test that usually gives the answer is very easy to do and is called a macular OCT if that is indeterminate than a retinal fluoriscene angiogram (of the eye not brain and carotids) is usally done at the same time. I don't know where you live but retina ophthalmologists would not let your mom walk out the door without one or both tests being done. See if you get her to a retina MD tomorrow. ERs are not equipped to do this testing.
Avatar m tn Kutyb, I had a follow-up with my opthamologist today. We have now done the fluroesceince angiogram, a 30 degree visual field test and a 10 degree visual filed test. Based on all the results, there seems to be even more confusion with what and why. The fluroesceince angiogram shows (and is supported by the visual field tests) that I have degeneration of the retinal epithelium (?).
Avatar m tn I had seen an eye doctor becuase of vision loss in my left eye, i had my eyes fully diolated, and went through an eye exam. About 4 -5 days they performed the Angiogram, injected the dye into my arm and started to take photos of the eye. they didnt see anything that stood out so i was refered to the eye hospital downtown. About a week later i went down there had a full diolation done, and another eye exam.
Avatar n tn A carotid MRI showed that I have about 50 percent blockage. A stress test revealed an abnormal EKG, with about a 4mm drop in the curve between the pulses. I have a history of high cholesterol and am currently on a cholesterol reducing medication as well as a medication to reduce blood pressure. I was offered several options as the next step and opted for a CT angiogram.
Avatar n tn The full name of the test is a fluorescein [FLOR-eh-seen] angiogram. In this test they injected a dye in my left hand's vein and then took pictures on several occasions over 10 minutes. If it was not for me complaining about my bind / blurry spot, they would have never found it; I go to a retinal specialist on the 29th to review the pictures taken in the angiogram. At least the doctors can see that there really is something wrong after this test.
Avatar n tn An EKG is not very reliable to diagnose ischemia or a an MI and requires further testing i.e. stress test, ct angiogram or cath angiogram. If it is closed (implant vessel), in all probability it can be reopened with a stent. I'm not sure what keeping an eye on it means, but it does indicate it may not be serious, or not taken as anything very seriously. If it is closed (totally collapsed), that can be very serious?! Partially collapsed?! You may want your father to get a 2nd opinion.
Avatar f tn CBC that was fine and eye pressure test that was fine. They gave me a morphine shot and anti-nausea shot and sent me home. Then my right eyelid started drooping so the Neurologist sent me to another ER. They did an MRI with and without contrast and an MRA. Drug testing, CBC, and some other blood tests. The MRI showed that I have a 10 mm x 7 mm x 9 mm Pineal Cyst. Also a Carotid Cave Aneurism. They gave me lots of nausea meds and pain meds and sent me home and said it was a migraine.
Avatar n tn I recently experienced a sudden blind spot in my left eye. The spot appears to be an opaque gray jagged shape completely blocking all light from penetrating. It appears just off the center (macula) of the eye in the +X +Y area using the Amsler Grid. Vision around the spot is intact. My visual acuity is 20/20 in both eyes without assistance. I had no headache, sinus issue, or other health related problem. I am also seeing bright light flashes when I move my eye either to the right or to the left.
Avatar m tn People can have an reaction to the nuclear stress test. The test is not perfect. The only true test, which is a procedure, is the angiogram. My mom had the nuclear stress test and was told that it was not bad and a few months later she was totally plugged in two main arteries and about 99 percent plugged in the other. Have you had an echocardiogram yet? An echocardiogram can check the heart valves.
Avatar m tn I had a triple bypass in Aug 2007....is there a test that would indicate how those grafts are holding up.
Avatar f tn I've had a bright/blind/wavy spot in my eye for the past 5 weeks. My left eye is highly mytopic. I first noticed the spot when I was under a lot of stress. I've been to the Ophthalmologist where I've had a dilated eye exam, fundus pictures, OCT, and visual field test. My visual field test was perfect. The doctor did find the spot on my dilated exam and the spot also showed up on the OCT. She said at the moment the spot is inactive.
Avatar n tn A nuclear stress test is about 85% accurate in finding CAD whereas a angiogram is 100% accurate. The angiogram also carries a 1 - 3% risk of complications, the most common risk, although very rare, is having an artery dissected during the procedure which results in emergency bypass surgery. Having said that, if I was told I needed one I would do it without hesitation. It is the gold standard of heart tests to determine if CAD is present.
Avatar m tn About the only thing I have gotten from my Opthamologist is that I have degeneration of the retina - deeper and more degeneration in the right eye (which has the blind spot), but also some in the left eye. The blind spot is to the right of center. In trying to read the eye chart with my right eye, I have only been able to see the left side - and can only read the 1st two letters, and usually only about half-way down the chart.
Avatar n tn H/O IWMI on 26/03/16. 2D echo showed 60% EF. Coronary angiogram revealed tVCAD with fair LV function. I want to know that his heart condition. Please reply me as soon as possible because my father does not feel well.
Avatar f tn had magnetic reasonnance angiogram no significant abnormalties found wats the definition of this doeas it say its clear or just ok wat were they looking for and have i any worries never explained didnt go bk 2 neurologist.
Avatar n tn You would need a stress test or a CT scan of your heart ( 64/128 Slice Coronary CT angiogram ). Make an appointment with a cardiologist. Why do you think you have a clogged artery?
Avatar m tn Also, if you are still having symptoms after a normal Thallium stress test, normal protocol would be to proceed to an angiogram. Remember, a nuclear stress test has a 97% specificity meaning that 97% of patients with negative or normal results are actually negative, so someone with a normal result is pretty safe. False positives are much more common.
Avatar m tn Hello Doc, My son who is 10 yrs old, last month initially experienced waving vision in his right eye. We immediately took him to optometrist and she noted macular edema and referred to retina specialist in the community. The specialist confirmed there was blood in the retina, but no detachment and diagnosed as idiopathic membrane leak. Asked us to check after 10 days to see if he improves or needs AVISTAN. After 10 days, the swelling went up, 450um and the vision dropped to 20/150.
