Angiogram test pain

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram test pain

angiogram

Avatar n tn If you are experiencing symptoms of heart disease like chest pain and pressure, shortness of breath etc.. then I would go straight to the angiogram as that's what you'll need to do next even if your CT comes back clean and you are still having symptoms, it's the only way to rule out your heart as the cause. If your CT comes back showing the possibility of blockages, then you'll need an angiogram to determine the extent and place stents if necessary.
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
Avatar f tn t have the pain during the angiogram however I did have it during the stress test. I am going to speak with my Dr Tomm. I will bring it up too him . when the Dr spoke with me about the results to the angiogram he did say there were spasms however he was not worried about them because it is sometimes triggered by the test.
Avatar m tn I would describe the pain to be mostly pressure/tightnes in nature, sometimes it could be sharp in nature, the pain shoots down my left arm. The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal.
Avatar n tn Vessel occlusion can be identified by a CT angiogram or the invasive procedure by a cath angiogram. Neither test has 100% sensitivity rating, but quite good. Also an EKG can indicate ischemia (lack of blood flow to the heart) that may be due to a vessel blockage. Usually, the tests aren't given unless there is chest pain, shortness of breath, etc., but if there is a family history of CAD and heart problems the testing for plague occluding vessels may be appropriate.
Avatar n tn My father is suffering from heart pain and his age is 53 with BMi of 29 ; H/O IWMI on 26/03/16. 2D echo showed 60% EF. Coronary angiogram revealed tVCAD with fair LV function. I want to know that his heart condition. Please reply me as soon as possible because my father does not feel well.
Avatar m tn People can have an reaction to the nuclear stress test. The test is not perfect. The only true test, which is a procedure, is the angiogram. My mom had the nuclear stress test and was told that it was not bad and a few months later she was totally plugged in two main arteries and about 99 percent plugged in the other. Have you had an echocardiogram yet? An echocardiogram can check the heart valves.
Avatar f tn I was in ICU for congested heart failure that came about very suddenly without any symptoms prior. Given blood test, chest x-ray, EKG, echo and then a cath angiogram. The diagnosis was very little blood flowing to the distal portion of the heart. It was believed if the 98% blocked RCA was stented there would be more blood to that portion of the heart. The 100% blocked LAD had developed collateral vessels for a natural bypass, and circumflex is 72% blocked (no stent).
Avatar m tn The cardiologist is indicating that based upon the stress test I may want to have another CT angiogram . He is not pressing however because I have no chest pain and he indicated the stress test results maybe related to the fact I have mycardial bridging. He has left it to me to decide to have another angiogram or just wait 6 months and redo thestress tests. Would appreciate advise.
Avatar m tn The tests indicated a blockage. I am now waiting for an angiogram. They put me on drugs after the test. I am on 1.25mg Monocor, 5mg Norvasc, 10mg Crestor as well as ASA 81mg - one per day. Now I wait for Angiogram. I am quite freaked out. So I am scheduled for an angiogram on Feb 5th. They tell me there are risks in this test. The risk is 1 in 1000 people die, stroke or have a heart attack during this proceedure. My question is this, Should I get a 64-slice Coronary CT Angiography?
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
Avatar n tn Went to family physician who was concerned and suggested nuclear stress test or CAT angiogram and gave me a choice. He ruled out blood work to look for enzymes. He told me the CAT would require prior insurance approval and recommended nuclear stress test. Like the EKG's I am sure that nothing will show up on the stress test. Should I save the insurance co pays etc and go straight to CAT angiogram? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn An angiogram is not looking for electrical conduction problems like an EKG or holter monitor test. An angiogram rules out major blockages in the heart from plaque, etc.. Please ask your doctor for an event holter monitor that you can wear to check on the rhythm and electrical conduction of your heart.
Avatar f tn What test determined your EF factor? An Echo and stress test is pretty accurate, but a stress test is just an approximation. You will know a lot more about your heart health after the procedure, they will determine your EF factor during the Angiogram. Your heart arteries will be mapped, any abnormalities noted. I have advanced CAD, and have for close to fifteen years. I wasn't very careful with my health until fifteen years ago.
Avatar f tn t have one get one) to schedule a ct angiogram. If your insurance approves it, it is a very accurate test and is not invasive. I know stress and anxiety can make the pain worse, but I would make sure by having every test to give you peace of mind. I had a stress test, EKG, Echo, Bloodwork, Chest X-ray, Angiogram etc and all were "normal." I didn't get any answers until I had a heart cath.
974371 tn?1424653129 From what you describe, it sounds as if you had a positive echo treadmill stress test, based on some changes on your EKG, as well as some changes in the motion of your heart as seen by exercise echocardiogram. Generally, the stress test is a screening test for coronary artery disease. The next step is a coronary angiogram, where they will be able to visualize the arteries that supply blood to your heart (coronary arteries), and determine if there are any blockages or narrowing.
1569294 tn?1296126095 cardioligist sent me for exercise tolerance test this showed up slight racing of heart. dr now wants me to have another angiogram even though he dosent think its comming from the small narrowing i have in right artery. I have to make decision as have letter to go for this in 3 weeks time and i am frightened of this angiogram especially when doctor feels its not coming from there and its stressing me out.
Avatar f tn After I went in with chest pain, I was kept I think it was over a weekend until they could do an angiogram on Monday. The doctor who performed the angiogram said my arteries were pristine like a teenager's, though I heard someone call out "low volume" while the angiogram was being conducted. It was later found out that I was iron deficient. Have you had your ferritin and iron saturation checked recently? Iron deficiency anemia can have chest pain as a symptom.
974371 tn?1424653129 Ok, I haven't even seen a cardiologist yet. Actually, I've had chronic mouth and throat problems no doctor is able to diagnose. In the mean time, I've been complaining of a *hard* heart beat for a while. My doc, as usual, attributes it to nerves. I mentioned it yet again so he finally sent me for a halter monitor and an ECHO treadmill stress test. I knew I didn't do to well on the stress test.
Avatar m tn The pain that I am in was caused by an Angiogram, the pills do not touch the pain. Is this what's supposed to happen when you ask for a health checkup?
Avatar n tn Went to cardiologist who did another nuclear stress test which came back negative again. Please note that my pain would start after 15 minutes of excercise, but each time for the nuclear stress test, they made me walk no more than 8-9 minutes. About a couple of weeks ago, I noticed the same pain when i was out in the hot weather. Since then i've felt this pain more frequently (each time with exertion or when i'm in the heat). Went to my doctor who told me to get a holter monitor.
Avatar n tn t know the results of that untill next week. The cath test is very good, no more pain except the insertion of the IV, and with the meds they give you, you do not really remember much. Even though I was awake, I still do not remember much and it was over before I knew it. the worst part in my case, is if you have any kind of back problem , having to stay on my back and keeping the leg straight for 6 or more hourse was the real problem.
Avatar n tn As far as numbness in your left arm and chest pain did it start after the test was done, before the test was done, how long ago was the test done....try to give us some more answers...and most of all why was the test done....................
Avatar n tn This month I have been extremely fatigued and have had some chest pain. I had a EKG, Cardiolite Stress test, and now am scheduled for an angiogram. They tell me that everything seems normal, but a concern of a low ejection fraction and wall motion abnormality (expulsion of 45%). What will they be looking for with the angiogram?
