Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram test done

angiogram

Avatar f tn Thanks for responding:0) The spasm was dx'd after the angiogram was completed and they determined that it wasn't a heart attack...no damage done to my heart. But they didn't see it on the angiogram. I think the cardiologist made the guess after the angiogram didn't show much. They monitored me closely throughout the test. I didn't realize they set a guideline for how far to push the heart. Thanks, that answers my question!
Avatar m tn If you can afford the angiogram, by all means, have it done. As reported, it is the gold test. Why not establish a baseline, or determine what might be a question?
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
Avatar f tn The gold standard is still the angiogram, and I agree. But is there a general agreement on when it should be done, and should it be done as a part of routine, or preventive? The Echo-Stress test is a good idea, and will take it up with my doc in few months. The hazards of smoking, and its addictive nature are well known. I am trying my best!
Avatar n tn If I think I may have a clogged artery what test do I ask my physician first to get done.
974371 tn?1424653129 No way could I get through that and understand they keep you awake? Wondering if there is an alternative and if anyone has had the angiogram done and what your experiences were.
Avatar m tn With the above can anyone tell me how serious is my problem is and how fast should i det done the angiogram. Should i go for invasive or non invasive. If non invasive then how far it will be correct in determining the problem if any? (In my place the non invasive technology is not popular yet. We just have one 128 and 256 CT slice scanners installed in one of the hospitals.
329165 tn?1515471990 I had an Angiogram done in 01/2007. i have familial-cholestorol (latest lipo showed total of 6,9 fasting) During the Angio they only found coronary artery spasms. no blockages found. the past 4 weeks or so I have been experiencing chest tightness and some burning pains in chest - at rest. lasting under 1 minute and dissolves by itself. I have not been taking any Cholestorol meds (medical aid depleted) for the past 7months.
Avatar n tn A carotid MRI showed that I have about 50 percent blockage. A stress test revealed an abnormal EKG, with about a 4mm drop in the curve between the pulses. I have a history of high cholesterol and am currently on a cholesterol reducing medication as well as a medication to reduce blood pressure. I was offered several options as the next step and opted for a CT angiogram.
974371 tn?1424653129 From what you describe, it sounds as if you had a positive echo treadmill stress test, based on some changes on your EKG, as well as some changes in the motion of your heart as seen by exercise echocardiogram. Generally, the stress test is a screening test for coronary artery disease. The next step is a coronary angiogram, where they will be able to visualize the arteries that supply blood to your heart (coronary arteries), and determine if there are any blockages or narrowing.
Avatar f tn s basically every test. All my test passed. They just wanted to do an Angiogram to see if there were any problems. That is when they found the blockages. My Dr,s were shocked to find them. I had 1 stent put in, and an Angioplasty in the other due to I need a 2 mm stent that is drug eluding, but it is currently not availiable. In the mean time, I am having pains in between the shoulder blades, which I was told is due to where the angioplasty was done.
Avatar n tn Husband had quadruple bypass surgery in 92 at 42 years of age. He had an angioplasty in 95, stents in 2005 and has suffered from angina off and on for years. Quit smoking 20+ years ago and rarely drinks alcohol. He had bleeding ulcers and his gallbladder removed but still has had a fairly normal quality of life. He has been on medication since 92 for high cholesterol (the problem runs in the family with 5 out of 9 siblings having heart surgeries).
Avatar m tn The tests indicated a blockage. I am now waiting for an angiogram. They put me on drugs after the test. I am on 1.25mg Monocor, 5mg Norvasc, 10mg Crestor as well as ASA 81mg - one per day. Now I wait for Angiogram. I am quite freaked out. So I am scheduled for an angiogram on Feb 5th. They tell me there are risks in this test. The risk is 1 in 1000 people die, stroke or have a heart attack during this proceedure. My question is this, Should I get a 64-slice Coronary CT Angiography?
Avatar m tn People can have an reaction to the nuclear stress test. The test is not perfect. The only true test, which is a procedure, is the angiogram. My mom had the nuclear stress test and was told that it was not bad and a few months later she was totally plugged in two main arteries and about 99 percent plugged in the other. Have you had an echocardiogram yet? An echocardiogram can check the heart valves.
Avatar m tn I had a triple bypass in Aug 2007....is there a test that would indicate how those grafts are holding up.
Avatar f tn What test determined your EF factor? An Echo and stress test is pretty accurate, but a stress test is just an approximation. You will know a lot more about your heart health after the procedure, they will determine your EF factor during the Angiogram. Your heart arteries will be mapped, any abnormalities noted. I have advanced CAD, and have for close to fifteen years. I wasn't very careful with my health until fifteen years ago.
Avatar f tn During a routing physical, I had an abnormal EKG & was referred to a cardiologist. Cardiologist repeated EKG, which again was abnormal. He did an ultrasound (with contrast), then stress test, then another ultrasound. Went back yesterday to cardiologist, who at first, didn't seem overly concerned about the ultrasound & stress test.
Avatar n tn A nuclear stress test is about 85% accurate in finding CAD whereas a angiogram is 100% accurate. The angiogram also carries a 1 - 3% risk of complications, the most common risk, although very rare, is having an artery dissected during the procedure which results in emergency bypass surgery. Having said that, if I was told I needed one I would do it without hesitation. It is the gold standard of heart tests to determine if CAD is present.
Avatar f tn She is currently in the hospital with more blockages. They are performing the angiogram now. She is 73 yrs old and still pretty spunky. My question is, will she need surgery again? And if so, what are the odds of the surgery being successful and making a full recovery?
Avatar n tn H/O IWMI on 26/03/16. 2D echo showed 60% EF. Coronary angiogram revealed tVCAD with fair LV function. I want to know that his heart condition. Please reply me as soon as possible because my father does not feel well.
Avatar m tn The only test i havent had done is a Cardiac Catherisation but my docs are refusing to do this as i am 21 and not overweight, but what they wont listen to me about is that for about 3 years of my childhood, i literally lived off McDonalds EVERY DAY without fail. and for tea i would eat high fat foods and NEVER EVER exercised, i was literally a couch potato but didnt gain any weight because i have a fast metabolism.
