Angiogram test stent

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram test stent

angiogram

Avatar f tn I was in ICU for congested heart failure that came about very suddenly without any symptoms prior. Given blood test, chest x-ray, EKG, echo and then a cath angiogram. The diagnosis was very little blood flowing to the distal portion of the heart. It was believed if the 98% blocked RCA was stented there would be more blood to that portion of the heart. The 100% blocked LAD had developed collateral vessels for a natural bypass, and circumflex is 72% blocked (no stent).
Avatar f tn s basically every test. All my test passed. They just wanted to do an Angiogram to see if there were any problems. That is when they found the blockages. My Dr,s were shocked to find them. I had 1 stent put in, and an Angioplasty in the other due to I need a 2 mm stent that is drug eluding, but it is currently not availiable. In the mean time, I am having pains in between the shoulder blades, which I was told is due to where the angioplasty was done.
Avatar m tn The tests indicated a blockage. I am now waiting for an angiogram. They put me on drugs after the test. I am on 1.25mg Monocor, 5mg Norvasc, 10mg Crestor as well as ASA 81mg - one per day. Now I wait for Angiogram. I am quite freaked out. So I am scheduled for an angiogram on Feb 5th. They tell me there are risks in this test. The risk is 1 in 1000 people die, stroke or have a heart attack during this proceedure. My question is this, Should I get a 64-slice Coronary CT Angiography?
Avatar f tn Repeat Angiograms Re: Oct 11, 2008 09:11AM in the Interventional Cardiology Expert Forum I had a stress test, blood work, EKg's basically every test. All my test passed. Avatar f tn It is difficult to say whether a cath angiogram (stent) is necessary without more information such as symptoms, other tests, etc... the stress test may have been included an echo?!
Avatar m tn I had a triple bypass in Aug 2007....is there a test that would indicate how those grafts are holding up.
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
Avatar f tn Was the angiogram a CT scan? It seems if the angiogram was a cath intervention through the coronary vessel a stent implant would have been done at the time to save money and reduce the risk?! Generally a lesion greater than 70% and medication doesn't relieve symptoms, then a stent implant. Sometimes a stent implant is not an option due to location, etc. and a bypass may be the only option.
Avatar f tn I am on beta blockers & nitrates for angina & SOB and still have some feelings of tightness or pressure in the mid chest region at least once a week-how much angina should be tolerated before I give in & have an angiogram-my nuclear stress test showed mild ischemia in the inferior apical region-should I be concerned?
Avatar n tn Some more insight in addition to Flycaster's information. You should get an understanding if the totally blocked arteries have developed a natural bypass (collateral vessels, angiogeneisis growth) that is now supplying the area with blood/oxygen. I and others on this forum have totally blocked arteries and manage very well without intervention (by-pass). You my not need a bypass or a stent.
Avatar f tn An angiogram will help determine if you blockage(s). I first had the procedure done in 2005 and the doctor found an artery with 90% blockage. He put in a stent.
Avatar n tn Yes, a CT scan 64-slice angiogram is an alternative to the intervention of a cath angiogram. Because there has been too many unnecessary stent implants, there are quidelines for treatment of angina and suspected CAD. If angina (chest pain) can be controlled with medication, then treat medically. If angina is not controlled, then stent occlusions greater than 70%. In the event there is an emergency with an occlusion then a by pass.
Avatar n tn It is not necessary to have an interventional angiogram unless you have consented to have a stent implant. Almost all cardiologists will stent borderline occlusions whether or not you have any symptoms. So please be aware. Usually, a stess test result doesn't proportion any percentage of an area, but will note if and the degree of blockage. However, the next appropriate test would be an echocardiogram to observe your heart's functionality.
Avatar m tn What are the chances of bypass vs. a stent? When would a bypass be appropriate and a stent could not deal with it? Or medications? Sorry, but I'm very nervous about all of this. Thanks!
Avatar n tn hey my dad is suppose to go in for an angiogram but he fears what might happen to him if he does. i was wondering if there was possible any alternative procedure or something else he could possibly do.
Avatar n tn For 6 mos, no chest, jaw, neck pain. Then again. Now I had a stress test positive for sepum and apex of heart. I had angiogram. It showed 4 of 5 bypasses were in tact and other had gotten some collateral circultaion. 2nd cardiologist want to get the films themselves and states the pictures themseves. the report on the one gone bad is very vague. I thought was was only one way to read an angiogram to determine if a stent is needed. I get chest pain 10-20 times a day. with 3-10 nitro on average.
Avatar n tn I have had an ECG stress test and a Myoview scan, both of which have shown an abnormal result. I now have to decide whether to have an angiogram but am worried about the risks involved. My cardiologist doesn't seem to think that any problems I have are too severe and that in fact there's a chance that both tests could be giving false positive results. I wondered whether cardiac MRI or cardiac computed tomography are a viable alternative to an angiogram ? Any advice would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Stents stay in place for your life time, but they CAN block. They can form scar tissue and block, or a clot can form. Same with your bypass grafts, they can block and veins can close up. I had a triple bypass and three months later I had an episode while out walking. It lasted around 4 mins, but then seemed to settle down. I had angina from that time again. I told the surgeon who said "there is nothing wrong with your bypass, ECG normal, and so there's nothing I can do".
Avatar m tn On a routine TMT I was positive for induced eschimia and asked to consult cardiologist. He advised angiogram. But I did not have any symptom like chest pain or short breadth. I went for cartography and found no problems. Should I undergo angiogram? pls advice.
Avatar m tn The Angiogram/Stent came after the Stress Test. After the Stent they did an Echocardiogram (non-stress) and it was Ok. Now however, the original symptoms have returned. Guess I need to go back to my Cardiologist and let him know. Thanks, for the good advice!
Avatar m tn t be surprised if your LAD has formed a new blockage or the existing stent has restenosed which just requires a new stent in either case.
Avatar f tn I meant to say and said the cath angiogram was unnecessary unless it was agreed and understood that there would in all probablity be angioplasty (stent, balloon) with a cath angiogram. there is a higher than expected probability there would be a stent implanted with a cath angiogram ...there are statistics available).
Avatar m tn Last year my husband had an an occluded obtuse maginal artery and and was given a drug eluding stent,He was diagnosed with cad he also has diabetes cholsetral and high blood pressure all being treated with 15 tablets a day.
Avatar n tn Doc said may get better with exercise or stent the original blocked artery which is a 5 yr old stent on right side that is 90% blocked. Unsure what to do grafts on left side are doing great. What do u think Bill S.
