Aldara and flat warts

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara and flat warts

aldara

Avatar f tn I have had flat warts on my hands (back and palms) and feet (bottom and top) for over 15 years now. I have left them alone for around 7-10 years and recently started seeking treatment again. Tried Candida shots and while I had sloughing in one tiny spot with the first shot and redness and swelling with the others no significant changes have happened. I intend to try other creams etc that are on the option list (aldara etc) and I'm taking cimetidine (rxd by my derm) just in case it might help.
Avatar n tn Warts do have various classifications and treatment varies depending on the type of wart. Flat warts may be treated using liquid nitrogen therapy and topical retinoic acid gel may also be helpful. However, it is important to note that these medications may be abrasive and they have their side effects. Never apply any cream or medications on the affected area without informing your physician about this. There is really no single effective medication for warts.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have also suffered with flat warts for almost 3 years now, and I know the pain you and especially you daughter feel. After trying various treatments, nothing seemed to be working at least not permanently. One thing that reduced the appearance of the flat warts was retinol cream at a strength of .05 but it is extremely drying to the skin and is very harsh especially on skin that is not used to it. I also was told to try aldara to no effect.

Avatar m tn Not an ideal scenario... Has anyone had luck with medicines like Zyclara or Aldara for flat warts on the hands?
Avatar m tn Hello, Aldara cream or Imiquimod is used for treatment of actinic keratosis, warts and topical treatment of biopsy-confirmed, primary superficial basal cell carcinoma (sBCC) in immunocompetent adults. It is still not confirmed whether your mole is a malignancy or a mole. I would suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist. Confirmation can be done by excisional biopsy with narrow margins.
Avatar n tn I also have many flat warts. They grow in clusters and recently they are growing more. I do have a stressful lifestyle in college. First, they started on my arms, but now they are one both arms and legs. What can I do? Will they ever go away? I noticed them 5-6 years ago.
Avatar f tn I have been taking my daughter to a dermatologist to treat flat warts on her face and hands since. He excised the large one that spread from the first cryo leaving a scar, and has frozen many, even under anesthesia. So far we have removed over 50. I can see the little ones starting better than the dermatologist and there are more on the way. They just keep coming. It is devastating socially at school. He said he doesn't want to try aldara at this age. Are there any other options?
Avatar n tn I am 25 years old, I am suffering since I was 17 years old of flat warts (approx. 18 wart) on my right cheek. I have been into the Derm. several times and tried many treatments such as two boxes (24 sachets) of (Aldara 5% Cream) using it on MWF with no improvments. I also tried Locacid Solution and sometimes electirc burning, drinking Zinc,etc.. and there was no improvments as well.. An advice would be highly appreciated!

Avatar m tn Hello, Although there are several medications(like podophyllum resin, Podofilox (Condylox), Trichloroacetic and bichloroacetic acids, Imiquimod 5% cream and interferons) are available, which can be applied directly to the surface of the warts ,other treatment options include electrical cautery, surgical removal, Carbon dioxide laser treatment and electrodesiccation.
Avatar f tn I am currently dealing with flat warts located on my hands and arms, and now my legs! Part of the problem is that they are SO small - sometimes I won't see them unless I shower, and the skin plumps up. The derm has been freezing them, but @ my last visit the doc said it was normal to have bumps on your skin and for me to just come back as needed, even though she admitted that the ones I had were the smallest she'd ever seen!
Avatar n tn This was because i had razor bumps issue and had sensitive skin, so i never realised i got warts, i kept shaving(and applied stop bump creams n shave lotions) n spreading them under the chin area for quiet some time before switching to electric razor and getting treatment. They are far reduced now, but keep coming back even after freezing, aldara and electric burning.
Avatar n tn My doctor told me to smear it all over my glans to remove the spots that were there and possibly and little microscopic warts that were forming, and the spots have disappeared. I understand that reddness and flaking and all that occurr, and indeed they have. However, whenever I get an erection it is extremely uncomfortable and my glans looks "deflated", i.e. the head doesn't inflate in the way that it normally does...
Avatar n tn ) This is impacting my every life so much as I get more and more flat warts on my face. My doctor prescribed me with Aldara cream and I have bad skin irritation and blisters. I only apply the cream 2 times a week now – been using it for 2 weeks. I will give it another 3 weeks to see what happens. I really don’t know what to expect and will this be over soon!!!???
Avatar m tn Frankly, I’m not even positive these are even warts, and not, instead, scars from the apple cider vinegar or aldara abuse. I am reluctant to go back to the doctor -- to pay $100 dollars -- just to have him say, again, Yes, your warts remain. I know you can’t tell me if they are warts or not. My question, I suppose, is that is it possible these are scars? If they aren’t raised, are they contagious? I have not been sexually active since February and am very reluctant to be until they are gone.
Avatar m tn According to my experience...flat warts and abnormal cells can be verrry tricky.. Even gp or urologist or dermatologist could missed it sometimes..thats why we hv the term differential diagnosis...precancerous cells are usually elusive In women...sometimes pap smear give ASCUS result...abnormal cells of unknown significance...and this is done by microscope examination of the swab as i know If you dont do pcr hpv test...or biopsy..then eyeballing is only an approximation...
Avatar f tn After a whole week of having this constant itch and burn and continuing to use the Aldara I went back to my Dr. He scared me so bad because he sai "these aren't the bumps you had before, how old is your boyfriend and do you only have sex with him?" I answered yes and that I knew. He did a culture and a blood test and told me to call him in a week because it looks like I have herpes. I started crying on the spot. He prescribed me Herpes meds a cream and pills.
Avatar m tn I have recently noticed four other bumps cropping up in my pubic region and at the base of my shaft - they are all round, brown, slightly raised and flat, and pretty small. I went to my GP and told him I think i acquired genital warts. He glanced at them quickly and agreed with me. He prescribed me a creme called Aldara that has an active ingredient of imiquimod. Questions: 1. I have not read about or seen warts that have the same characteristics as these buggers.
Avatar n tn Hello, Two years ago I was diagnosed w/ genital warts (just one, actually) and had it treated by cryotherapy. That summer more warts broke out, and I took Aldara under the guidance of my physician. that seemed to clear up most of them. I had some smaller outbreaks in the coming years, usually corresponding to stress. I had some extra aldara and used it, normally it worked OK, but it still left small warts occasionally.
Avatar f tn But if what I had in December were warts, then the aldara worked immediately and you should definitely try it! I've also looked at forcyde spots and vestibular papilloma... I feel the former is definitely what I have on a lot of my parts down there. The latter is a possibility as well as the one side is raised in a linear formation, which is atypical of warts from what my understanding is... Maybe I have both!
Avatar n tn About 3 weeks ago I noticed a small bump on my lower lip and went to see a dermatologist who said it was a wart. He froze it along with 2 other “flat warts” on the back of my hand. I later went to another dermatologist who froze other small warts on my lips. They both examined my genital area and found no warts. Do I have the STD or STI known as HPV? Could I have just a common strain of the papillomavirus that will go away. What are my limitations sexually speaking?
Avatar n tn I have recently went in for another visit with another practitioner on campus, she has said that these suspected bumps are sebaceous cysts and strongly doubts they are hpv related warts. I'm glad to hear this, my question is will these react to aldara? And if they are these cysts will they go away or cause any detrimental effects on my overall health? Once again thanks for your time and work, mental health is starting to be balanced again!
Avatar n tn As for sexual relations, I have been with my boyfriend for a year and a half, and he adores me, warts and all. He was with me with me when I developed them, and Im lucky that he sees me for the person I am inside. As for future sexual partners, I am scared of what they may think. I could just dive in there and hope they don't develop the signs, but I am far too caring and don't think I could do that to someone.
Avatar m tn Well anyways went to planned parenthood here in town and the nurse said it was a genital wart and the red little bumps were other warts that may form or wont form but it doesn't look like anything i saw in pictures for genital warts because it is really thin and flat and not cauliflower shaped. The nurse told me about treatments and recommended and aldara type cream she said it was the best way to boost my immune system. So i went to a urologist and got a second opinion.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if Nair or something similar is safe to use with GW? And, the thought of waxing sounds brutal on my warts, but I suppose I might as well ask if anyone has ever tried.
Avatar m tn They would disappear for a day or two but then return. Two larger ones, flat, on the top side of my shaft and quite a few smaller ones on the bottom. It wasn't until recently, about 2 or 3 months ago that I started to treat them aggressively. I started using Apple Cider Vinegar and immediately noticed a change. The smaller ones on the bottom of my shaft would sort of disappear and reappear, kind of like they flattened out but then would raise up a bit.
