Aldara for genital warts

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara for genital warts

aldara

Avatar n tn Hi, I was diagnosed with genital warts and given a prescription of Aldara. After using Aldara for 8 weeks or so the warts went away and my doctor said that they were gone and I could stop using Aldara. About a week ago I noticed that two warts were back and my doctor said to continue use of Aldara. I was wondering how long Aldara takes to get rid of warts and when they do go away, how often may the warts reappear?
Avatar m tn Hi I've been using Aldara for 3 applications now for what I believe are genital warts under my foreskin just below the ridge, they are only small. Up to now nothing has happened, no reaction, no itching no reddening of area nothing at all. I was expecting some sort of reaction or change with it being such a strong medicine. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn Finish all of the sachets and if it still isn't working go to the doctors and ask for a different treatment. Aldara worked for me but it differs from person to person because we are all different, you may want to try something stronger like cryrotherapy.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure why you were given aldara for pinched skin. it's a treatment for genital warts and molluscum. Aldara is very irritating to the genital skin. It's very common for the symptoms you've described to occur. ruling out herpes is never a bad idea but odds are it's due to the aldara. I'd get a 2nd opinion on the area you were using the aldara on and not continue using it until you get a better diagnosis than what you were evidently given the first time.
Avatar f tn I don't want to go off half cocked and tell future partners that I have had genital warts if it's not true. Is there any way I can find out for sure if I am infected with HPV? I know I can get a pap but will that be able to tell me if the kind I have is what caused the warts or would it just generally say that I have it but they don't know which strain?
Avatar f tn I thought that just meant that it was working, so I was off it for a day and went back on it for 2. It happened again, so I went off it for 2 days. Then I went back on it and tried to stay on it, hoping that the cream would help somehow, and the sores just kept getting bigger. I had serious flu-like symptoms, with fever, chills, migranes, muscle pains, the works. Now that I am off aldara, I have less of the flu like symptoms, but I have quarter sized lesions on my vagina.
Avatar m tn Hello, For small warts several medications(like podophyllum resin, Podofilox (Condylox), Trichloroacetic and bichloroacetic acids, Imiquimod 5% cream and interferons) are available, which can be applied directly to the surface of the warts.Other treatment options include electrical cautery, surgical removal, Carbon dioxide laser treatment and electrodesiccation.
Avatar n tn I'm wondering if anyone else has had experience with this cream and its effectiveness on genital warts. These warts seem to be very stubborn and I have been to the doctor on numerous occations to have them frozen off, but that is very painful and embarassing so I am now trying the cream. I just want to know what I can expect from this. Thanks ladies...
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar f tn Im taking Aldara or m GW its been a lil ova a week and it just started burning around my out breaks is this normal like when water hits it something like dat. is this normal should it burn. its like a burning itching feeling. should i call my doctor or is this suppost to happen?
Avatar m tn After my doctor burned my warts off, he instructed me to use a cream for 3 days, then a powder for 3 days, and then Aldara 5% every other day for a few weeks. He instructed me not to masturbate/ have sex for the first 6 days after the burning procedure. Three or four days after the procedure, I had a weak moment and masturbated. To my dismay, I noticed my penis hurting and looked at it to see it had started bleeding.
Avatar n tn The underlying virus is never completely eliminated, however, and genital warts may reappear even after treatment. Genital warts may disappear without treatment, but sometimes eventually develop a fleshy, small raised growth. There is no way to predict whether they will grow or disappear. Depending on the size and location of the wart, and other factors, a doctor will offer one of several ways to treat them.
Avatar f tn Well you want to start by not using tampons, they can spread and irritate your warts. also you can treat the inner warts with aldar but when you return home you can have them frozen off. you can start taking Vitamins E &C to help your immune system, eating healthy and exercising will also help. HPV in most cases will clear in 2 years at the most.
Avatar f tn Don't trust over the counter products or anything over the internet. Products that work for normal warts are NOT meant for genital skin.
Avatar m tn She diagnosed me with genital warts however she referred me to a gyno who also said i have genital warts and prescribed aldara cream. So i began using aldara cream, however on the 3rd week i got severe bad reactions. After every application the wart would actual get bigger in size and i would get tingly feelings in my genitals and due to that i wouldnt be able to sleep at night.
Avatar m tn it can take up to 3 months for the aldara to fully work. did you use it for that long? don't continue to pick these off!!! the pain of wart removal isn't as bad as it sounds. if you are getting the return of warts frequently, seeing a dermatologist for removal is a good idea.
Avatar f tn I recently noticed small warts on my penis and went to the doc and received aldara and the doctor didn't say much and certainly didn't seem concerned. The warts don't itch but scrotum does. No relief yet since it has only been one week but I am a worrier so I would like to ask these questions..... I have only had sex with one woman for the last 3.5 yrs, did she give to me given her cervical dysplagia diagnosis 2 yrs ago? She's had no visible issues.
Avatar m tn At first I thought they were pimples since I usually get a couple from time to time, but it's been 2 weeks now since they first appeared and it doesn't look like they're going anywhere. They look like 2 small genital warts. I have a very active sexual life. In 2010 I had sex with 30 different prostitutes. I ALWAYS wear condom for vaginal sex and I have tested for HIV in November and it came up negative. Anyway, I don't know what to do about these 2 red bumps.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with genital warts in 1999 I was treated with aldara the warts didn't come back until years later and the outbreaks weren't that bad. The outbreaks would come every other year and go away without treatment. However, in August 2008 I started getting outbreaks and I thought it was genital warts but it turned out to be genital herpes and I am still having outbreaks my last outbreak was in November but I am on suppressive theraphy.
Avatar m tn Supposedly it's available at Walgreens drug stores without a prescription. I bought an identical product for a friend in Mexico for $6. Aldara prescription cream for warts is ridiculously expensive, so unless you can get it at a huge discount try Podofilox first. There are other options like freezing them off, etc., but that requires a doctor visit.
Avatar m tn Could it be human papiloma virus that cause genital warts? Is this Zovirax + antibiotics take care of this? I'm afraid I have infected my partner, I'm really worried.
Avatar m tn I have genital warts and my wife has it inside the vagina, there is not doctor here.
Avatar n tn ok i have left a question before reguarding genital warts, for a year and a half i have been getting these solid lesions or bumps that were greyish or darkish colored, for the entire year and a half i was ripping them off by hand and letting the skin heal, and everytime they came back i ripped them off, i must have done this around 20 times, they come back so fast, and i also noticed that twice when my skin was normal, i had unprotected sex with my girl and one bump came back right after that, f
Avatar n tn //www.medtechinc.com/images/CPW_FO_DFU.pdf). It does say not to use the product on Genital Warts. I have a few questions: 1. Why would this product not work on HPV? 2. Would this be any different than Cryo therapy? 3. Is the warning there just to make sure you see a Dr. for an accurate diagnosis? 4. What would be the downside of trying? 5. What do you think? Thanks very much!!
