Avatar n tn Starting from arm workouts (using 5lb weights and resistance bands) then followed by workouts that can be done at home later. (Squats, dips, etcetera ). I was not every active pre pregnancy but I would like to keep my body tight. Will this do any harm to my unborn? Thanks.
Avatar f tn They are also many exercises you can do without even touching weights or resistance bands! Good luck, you got this! You can always pm me to talk more.
Avatar f tn When you say that you work out a few days a week, is it cardio only? If so, try doing 20 minutes of strength training before your cardio workouts. What happens when we get older is that we lose muscle mass, which makes the metabolism slow even more. Don't change your current workouts, but add that strength training--look up tutorials on youtube on squats, lunges, biceps curls, tricep kickbacks, back rows, (female) pushups, chest presses, planks, crunches, etc.
Avatar f tn I have found that the stretch bands are great for resistance training. There are many (as in, almost too many) DVDs and other inexpensive guides for using the bands. I have one that looks like a rubber band on steroids and a couple more that have handles on them. I am able to use them for certain body areas (especially my legs) by looping them over door handles. My treadmill is a cross trainer so I get some arm resistance training on that too. Your problem may be finding too much information!
Avatar n tn You can easily do circuit training workouts at home or at the gym on your own. Workouts last 30 to 45 minutes each and use either dumbbells, resistance bands or just your own body weight as a resistance. You're doing a series of exercises one after another in a circuit without taking any breaks in between the exercises. You will do both weight training exercises such as pushups, situps and squats, and aerobic exercises such as jumping jacks, jumping rope and burpees.

Avatar f tn You can also do some stretching exercises after getting out of bed as well as clear a specific spot on the floor for jogging in place, skipping rope or using resistance bands. For healthy skin tone, you can also use body wraps.
483733 tn?1326798446 A big balance ball, a medicine ball, resistance bands, and small hand weights are also in my arsenal. I also found a really big floor mat online. Most of the mats in stores are not very wide, and it's kinda discourging if you don't feel like you fit well on your mat! Also, the wide mat is a great surface to do my video workouts on, and gives my joints an extra layer of padding on top of my shoes and carpet. Hmmm, I feel pretty guilty that I skipped my AM workout now!
Avatar n tn I work with people who use wheel chairs to get around and have picked up exercising tips from them. What works well is resistance bands. You could wrap one under your chair to work out your upper body or use things around the house for the bands. There is also a cardio machine (not sure what its called) thats like a bike but you basically pedal with your hands. It gets your heart pumping for sure!
427265 tn?1444076436 They are not the regular bands these are round, like a cord with foam grips. They have more resistance than the regular type bands which is why I think they work. I have only found them at Sears. I use it so much I snapped one and couldn't find it at the regular exercise equipment places.
1292438 tn?1276120904 Physiologists at the Mayo Clinic determined that leg extensions place significantly more stress on your knees than squats. Why? Because the resistance is placed near your ankles, which leads to high amounts of torque being applied to your knee joint every time you lower the weight. What’s more, Auburn University scientists found that people who squat long-term have tighter, stronger knee ligaments than those who don’t squat at all.

Avatar f tn re already active it is fine to keep doing your regular workouts.. just monitor your heart rate, try not to get above 150. I asked her if boot camp classes and spin is still okay (by two favorite) she said as long and I'm monitoring I can do whatever I feel like as long as it is safe and I am not over heating (no more kick boxing).
Avatar f tn I don't think so. They make belly bands to help support the bump to make running easier. If you're worried about it ask your doctor.

Avatar m tn Do lots of lunges and squats, and do 45 minute workouts at a high resistance at least four days a week on a stationary bike. The cardio will flattern your stomach, and the increased resistance and leg reps will make your butt and hips bigger as in more muscular, which will also make your stomach look flatter in proportion. It worked for me--and I NEVER thought I would lose weight in my stomach!
Avatar f tn Have you tried poi spinning? Sock poi are pretty inexpensive (you can even make them yourself) and just standing and practicing spins will get your heart rate going in a short amount of time, and there are ton of moves you can do with them so boredom isn't much of an issue.
Avatar m tn The World of Sports Science website describes how swimming requires your muscles to overcome frontal resistance, skin friction and eddy resistance. You have to power through water turbulence and the drag you create, so weightlifting is important in supplementing the cardio. You should work the major arm and leg muscles, plus the hip, gluteal, lumbar and abdominal muscles because they all assist in rotating and stabilizing your body in the water.
Avatar f tn I have an entire range of indoor exercises. Yoga. Cardio salsa. I work with resistance bands. Squats. And other exercises.
