Thursday morning I woke up to a sore/ scratchy throat. I figured it was from sleeping with my hair a little wet and having the fan on the night before and would go away later in the day. It never went away and continued. Friday was the same thing my throat felt to itchy and irritated I would keep coughing. Friday night it felt gross to swallow my saliva. Saturday it was the same thing so I looked in my mouth and noticed my tonsils were swollen.
I was on Zegerid and probiotics(still taking them) for 3 months prior to September and still had the swollen tonsils. I cannot swallow properly, I snore so loud I wake myself up along with the household, I am always gagging and choking on my own saliva, constant allergies and post nasal drip...What does this have to do with GERD? I have no heartburn and no irregular amount of erosions in my esophagus!

We used a condom for sex but have had unprotected oral sex. I have noticed that my tonsils are very swollen and it is somewhat uncomfortable to swallow. They are not red, they don't hurt, there are no other symptoms in my throat. I also had some white spots on my throat and swollen lymph nodes but I was given and antibiotic and something to swish and swallow and those have gone away and stayed away.
Very swollen tonsils, sore throat, harder to swallow, strong/choking cough, sore neck, ears plugged, a little white (not bumps) around tonsil, perfect temperature.
Day 4 (now): Very plugged ears, Swollen tonsils, less of sore throat, same cough, sore neck, same white around tonsil, a little bit plugged nose, perfect temperature still.

I a 19 year old female and have noticed swollen tonsils for almost a year now. In Mid-August 2014 I had what my campus doctor told me was a viral infection, which tested negative for strep. I had a sore throat, hoarse voice, and was given nothing for it at the doctors and was told it would go down on its own.
I agree with AnnieBrooke - you need to be seen by a different doctor! And preferably an ear, nose and throat doc! When you have a throat so sore that you can barely swallow, can't eat at all and have ulcers on your tonsils, SOMETHING definitely needs to be done! Did your doc even bother to do a strep test or anything? Strep throat can also cause ulcers in the throat and mouth and strep is definitely something that neeeds to be treated with antibiotics.
So i had strep thoat and finished taking my course of pencillin vk about a week ago, and my tonsils still havent gone down, and my lymphnodes are still swollen, admittedly i have been putting my finger in my throat to feel my tonsils and they are still pretty big, the white stuffs gone off them but they're still big. When can i expect them to go cause this is driving me nuts, also my tongue sometimes has a thin layer of whiteish colored stuff that brushes off, is this normal?

i checked in the mirror this morning and there is a large swollen lump that hurts when i poke it, swallow, eat, or anything. it doesn't hurt to breathe, or restrict air flow in any way.
my questions are this:
What could it be?
Should i see a doctor? (no insurance/ very little money. would like to only if it's vital)
Is there anything i can do at home to help it go away?
I have lumps and bumps on the side of my tongue and on my tongue I have a lump on the side of my tongue that isn’t big or small either and had a cut in it and sizzles when I put salt on it I have been putting salt on it for 2 days and it hasn’t gone down or gone big either and I have a white lump where my tonsils used to be and I a few swollen lymph nodes that are small but I do have a lump on side of my neck that hasn’t gone bigger. My tongue is white at the back.
I occasionally spit up and or swallow these white hard things that come out of pouches in the back of my throat. I can see them in the pouches and I can push them out with my finger. They have a very bad oder.
I'm not pron to cold sore, I don't get sick from them and they don't come more often when I'm sick. My lymph notes are not swollen.

I recently had oral and vaginal sex (5 times) with a casual male partner. 1 week after having sex I shaved my pubic hair and around 3 days later noticed some small red bumps on the inside of my vagina, when squeezing these bumps some white fluid came out. I went to the Dr and they said they believed the bumps were ingrown hair follicles rather than herpes.
He looked at my tonsils and told be to invest in a Water Pik and clean your tonsils daily.
Ok, over the past 3 days I have started to have a sore throat looked in the mirror and saw white patches on my tonsils the right one is kinda swollen and when I swallow it hurts not a stinging hurt but more of a sore hurt. I dont have a fever, I dont feel bad. My throat is just irritable. And the white patches look disgusting. I dont have health insurance and at this moment in time i cant afford to go to the Drs. Can someone help me?
for the past 6 months I have getting periodic sore throats. when this started I noticed that my left tonsil was more swollen than the right. ALWAYS (not only when I am sick) I tried to take a picture but it was hard to. . . anyway the left one is about 40% bigger maye 50% bigger than my right - it doesn't go over my airway at all really but its bothersome. its shaped like a normal tonsil but its almost has like a crevis in it . its inflamed and shaped like the top portion of a heart . . .
I thought I had strep because I present many similar symptoms, including white stuff on my swollen tonsils. I have oral to a new guy about a week ago or less and these symptoms shows up a few days ago. All symptoms are:
swollen throat/lymph node
Occasional fever
Body aches
Nausea
Hurts to swallow or talk
Also would like to note I tested negative for strep and mono. Went to the ER this morning I was in so much pain.
Hi there, yesterday i noticed a small patch that was swollen on the roof of my mouth (on the left side). It does not hurt, it`s just annoying. This morning i noticed one white dot on my right gland. It doesn't hurt when i swallow and i`m in no pain, but this is only the second day. I would like to know if anyone shares these symptoms and whether or not you know what this is. Any answers will be appreciated.
Back in May I had an extremely sore throat with white spots on my tonsils thought it would go away on its own ended up with my uvula swelling so bad I thought I was going to choke on it. I went to the hospital immediately they told me I had uvulitis gave me prednisone and told me to take benadryl. I did the whole 5 days of prednisone the sore throat went away and the uvula went down a bit.
ve noticed a few small white spots on my tonsils while also experiencing a sore throat. My tonsils are slightly swollen as well. I've tried picking at them with my finger but they don't seem to come off - they're sort of mucus-like (not hard). Also it hurts to swallow. On my right tonsil there are a couple dots of white and on my left tonsil it looks a little stringy (which is why I thought it was just mucus). Any idea what this could be?
Back of my throat is swollen. unable to swallow other than water, yogurt and warm/cold fluids for over a week. No strep throat. No tonsils. Any ideas what it can be? I have mucus in throat, nasal and left ear. Regular Dr. put me on Levaquin, Nexum and Tussicaps but doesn't know what's causing problem.
My tonsils were really swollen w/white patches on them. I could barely swallow. I was running a fever. I also had an ear ache in my left ear. I ended up going to the health food store and getting silver colloidal. It seems to be working I am feeling better and the swelling has gone down and the white patches are almost gone. My ears still feel a little plugged. I am not 100% better but getting there. I am still rinsing w/salt water and peroxide. Thank You for the info.
