I a 19 year old female and have noticed swollen tonsils for almost a year now. In Mid-August 2014 I had what my campus doctor told me was a viral infection, which tested negative for strep. I had a sore throat, hoarse voice, and was given nothing for it at the doctors and was told it would go down on its own.
I went to the urgent care clinic and the strep culture was negative. My throat go a little better over the next 4 days then a week after I went to urgent care I woke up and my tonsils were very swollen and covered in white. My glands were sore in my neck when I pushed on them. The next day the tonsils still very swollen and covered in white and very sore. Is this hiv related?
So recently i had oral sex with my partner and like a day later I developed a cough. I've been coughing for about a week but today I noticed that my tonsils are swollen and i noticed 1 white spot on one of my tonsils. I got tonsilitus (sorry don't know how to spell that) when i was 16 and ever since then when i get sick my tonsils are the first thing to act up. They swell up and they hurt. This time they don't hurt but they are swollen.
m in the same situation, I went to the doctor and they told me I had strep throat, a week later my tonsils were still huge and with a white substance on them. Went to a different doctor this time. She said she was pretty sure it was mono, but the blood test had to be shipped off today so I won't know for another day or two, so I'm not 100% it's mono. Have you been really tired? Other than a sore throat fatigue is another symptom.
Went to student health again, was prescribed benzonatate and Claritin. Now week 4, I have a wet cough, stuffy/runny nose, swollen tonsils, coughing enough to vomit a couple times a night.
Why am I not getting better / should I go back to the doctor?
When it comes to getting rest I'm doing the best I can, but I am getting average sleep that my body is use to, sometimes even more.

ve gave oral sex to my boyfriend on the weekend and now I have really swollen tonsils and they have lots of puss spots which are extremely swollen and very painful. I went to the doctors and they gave me penicillin but said if it was an infection (I think) it wouldn't work. I have been taking paracetamol for pain and ibuprofen now which has helped a lot but not sure if the swelling is going down. Okay, so here's the story. For the past month I've had swollen tonsils with white pieces of mucous or whatever and they tend to break off and they're not that great tasting. I've also had horrible breath and a slight sore throat. So i go to the doctor and he tells me it's strep so he gave me an antibiotic. I've known that it's not strep and the doctor was stupid.
Thursday morning I woke up to a sore/ scratchy throat. I figured it was from sleeping with my hair a little wet and having the fan on the night before and would go away later in the day. It never went away and continued. Friday was the same thing my throat felt to itchy and irritated I would keep coughing. Friday night it felt gross to swallow my saliva. Saturday it was the same thing so I looked in my mouth and noticed my tonsils were swollen.
I have an appointment with my ENT Dr. next week, but my tonsil stones are driving me insane. I haven't been able to swallow or eat due to them being so large and my tonsils being swollen. I've tried googling tips and all I can find are websites trying to sell me products. Does anyone know of ways to get them out? Is a tonsillectomy common for this issue? I've also have had problems with strep as well, but only about 2 or 3 times a year.
The lymph node subsided after a couple days however I looked in my throat and my tonsils, particularly on the right side, are swollen and red (no white patches). The tonsils have remained swollen like this for 14 weeks now. Throughout this time, I can also feel an intermittent burning sensation from what I'm sure are lymph nodes in my arm pits and groin.
A pre-existing dermatitis condition which is normally very minor has been exacerbated throughout this time.

The node was the size of a large marbal. It had been swollen for 6months or so and they decided they wanted to check it for lymphoma. Once removed the biopsy came back and my specialist told me it was nothing??? His nurse told me that she thought it was cat scratch fever, I don't have cats and haven't been around cats enough to make that happen, and his assistant told me that he thought it was TB.
This kept happening for 2 weeks, at the same time I was having aching in my lymph nodes in groin, under arms and neck but were not swollen. I have got 3-4 fesh coloured perfectly round spots on my tonsils which intially for 2 -3 weeks have not been sore, over the last week I have developed a tingling burning sensation in my lips, tongue and roof of mouth and developed a sore throat. The tonsils dont appear to be swollen or red.
