Common Questions and Answers about Spotting between periods means

period

While most of us are a wee bit older than you, we've got a lot of experience with periods between us. I doubt there's anything we haven't seen, heard about or experienced ourselves. If you have any more questions about this, just drop a post, OK? You've got a lot of "moms" out here!
Then I began to have vaginal spotting in between periods. Still, I have a regular menstruation. I noticed increase in discharge and a different smell. Just this week, I am having severe pain in my left iliac (lower left of the abdomen) spreading up to my left thigh, lower back and less pain on the right iliac. Even after urinating it still feels painful.
What is the main difference between spotting and light bleeding? I don't know what it is that I'm experiencing, and for me to define the difference would help. I don't have insurance so I can't go to the OB, and it costs $125 for bloodwork. The pink and brown stuff is only there when I wipe. This has been going on for 8 out of the last 9 days. It comes and goes. My period isn't due at least until this friday, and this started last monday. Light cramping, high temps. Coverline is 96.
im very young and i dont know the difference between spotting and my period i used to get it just at random and now for two months i have got it on the 5th and my periods used to last 7 days and now they only last 3, they are still heavy and a dark red but i dont know if they are now spotting or if my body is just changing , please help me figure out what it is and find out if im pregnent or not....
I've been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for some time now. Sometimes I will have light spotting for a couple of days halfway between my periods. My doctor says it could mean I need a higher dose but it is fine for me to stay on what I have now and just accept the spotting if I prefer, since a higher dose may make me nauseous. I just had my annual exam in November and everything turned up normal and healthy.
I know that some women spot during ovulation, but as I said, I never have--any advice? Also, I am due for my period sometime between tomorrow and the 10th. Would spotting make me late? Also...unrelated...but what does dpo stand for?
Can someone tell me the difference between spotting and your actual period. Im so confused I cant tell which is which??
Last month I started to have some brown spotting between my periods. I didn't think much of it, but it seriously lasted from like...five days after the end of my period until the beginning of my next period. That worried me. But it went away after my most recent period ended, so I thought I was fine. But today I noticed it was starting up again. My period ended a week ago. What is going on?
February the 7th came and the cycle was brown, but full, “no spotting”, the 8th brown spotting, the 9th spotting, 10 gone? Implantation bleeding maybe 2? How long/soon does this happen if it was/is implantation bleeding 3? I don’t believe in drugs so I don’t take medications/ birth control pills, nor do I smoke or drink. I’m not strict on my diet but I have an ok one. I am healthy and my family has no trace or any cancer.
since i started my period at age 15 i've only had 4 periods a year. one in August,, November, March, and April. that's it, none in between or any spotting in between at all. I'd like to know if that normal at all? I'm not on any medications and my doctor hasn't done any sort of follow up on it. Can i get pregnant? is that possible? does this have to do with hormones at all maybe? thanks for your time. hopefully i can get more answers then i've gotten which is none.
Im really educated on pcos but I just wondered if anyone had experienced different patterns in their periods from year to year.
i got PG on the pill after 6 yrs becuz i didn't recognize the change in my cycle while on it. spotting prior to your period is good...if there are many days between the onset of spotting and flow there might be some concern....any bleeding before stopping your pills is not good. i was told it was normal and got PG and found out i was immune to me pill.
Now I'm 25 with four kids, its just cleaning your body out and the doctor will give you a pap smear to see if there is anything going on, he did that and the test came back normal for me and after the test, I still have those periods. My periods are 3-4 days heavy, then two days off and then 4 days regualr then two days spotting. It's been line this since I had my new baby.
Hi Lou- I know this is late, but im in the same boat as you- my periods were always very regular- even before being on the pill- i found out i was pregnant in january, and end of march found out at 7wks, my uterus shrunk, doc did an ultrasound/ baby didn't makei it no heartbeat on ultrasound-, had a d&c, then spotting, spotting spotting for next few months- a few months ago i had a light period- (not normal) then got the doc's ok to start trying again- now here i am 10/14, and the first day
I can't believe they have it as a form or birth control. I hope your periods subside. Mine are normal after coming off of it. I hope you can talk to a doctor about what you are going through. Don't let them tell you its normal. That is just crazy. They told my friend that and then put her on the pill to control the bleeding. Just so you know the pill for my friend did control her period. She got it once a month for a week. On time every month with normal blood flow.
Did you recently start on the pill? If so, spotting between periods is common in the first few months, and is really nothing to worry about! Even if you've been on the pill for awhile, it's probably not something to worry about unless it starts happening every month. Don't worry!!
s theory is I am in Perimenopause, he ask if I had other symptoms but I don't other then the normal peri stuff; spotting between periods only when I wipe, never a need for a pad, I also have cramping that sometimes goes to my back. My breast always start getting sore after the spotting, so dr. says it is definitely hormonal. Keep in mind you can be in peri 10-12 years before meno. I have only the spotting mood swings sweet cravings crampy, short fused, etc, but NEVER had a hot flash.
This is the first time while on the pill that I've had spotting in between periods. On that note, I am sexually active with my boyfriend. I was wondering what exactly the spotting means-- if it is occurring because I was late with one pill or if there might be any other reasons?
Yesterday though I had some brown spotting in my underwear. It was kind of creamy looking and didn't exactly smell like blood. It smelled more awful than anything else. Since I have been to the bathroom many times and only once since has it been there. I am curious has this happened to anyone else? Should I worry? Also, I dont know if this means anything but I have been SERIOUSLY constipated and haven't moved my bowels in almost a week.
I feel like I have friends out there who understand .... really comforting. These past two days no spotting - hope that means all is clear....I don't know if I'm paranoid but, sometimes I think I feel an occasional light cramp ( leftish lower abdomen ). Is this real or am I imagining it ? Maybe I am paranoid about getting an infection. I had called the nurse to ask to be followed up by my doctor and she said to call back in 3 months to make an appointment. Three months ?!!!
17, pretty sure conception took place somewhere between Feb 29th and March 2nd., which would put me at two weeks. On cycle day 25, or what i think was the 12th day of my luteal phase, i tested positive on home pregnancy test. Positive again at doctor's office on cycle day 27. I went in to urgent care that day because I was bleeding, not a lot, but more than just brown spotting. It is the day I would have gotten my period. Had brown spotting for a 1.5 days more, now none.
which my Reproductive Specialist says might cause the spotting before periods. Also, fibroids or cysts can cause spotting. i would always get it check out. Ask your gyn for tests. It is YOUR body...Now i have to have the fibroid removed b/c it might be interfering with me getting Pregnant. I hope the spotting stops..cause it is ANNOYING!!!
My LMP was about July 17th, 2007 and it is now September 23 and I have not had a period since. No light bleeding, no spotting, nothing at all. My boyfriend and I have unprotected sex (using withdrawl) and I am not on any form of birth control. I took an HPT a week after my first period was missed and it was NEG. I took another one about two days later, it was NEG. I took another one right around the time of my second missed period and it was still NEG. What is going on with me?
I am having lower abdominal slight cramping as well. I never spot between periods nor do I ever have cramps. I usually am like clock work. So I am starting to worry. I bought a home pregnancy test and will take tomorrow morning as the test recommends. I will post tomorrow and let you know. I'm trying to stay positive as I have read that this type of spotting does occur during implantation. Sorry not much help but lets keep our fingers crossed.
If you have a corpus luteum cyst, you may be experiencing menstrual changes such as late periods or bleeding between periods. Because this set of symptoms is also associated with the dangerous condition known as tubal or ectopic pregnancy, you should be sure to go to a doctor.
Right after I found out I was pregnant two months ago, I started passing bright red blood, but just spotting. It rarely ever makes it to my underwear, but is there when I wipe. I had two transvaginal ultrasounds at six weeks. I have heard the baby's heartbeat twice since then (last time was yesterday) and I am now 14 1/2 weeks. My doctor put me on pelvic rest back at six weeks and since I have been spotting every five or six days, my husband and I have chosen to keep me on pelvic rest.
BUMP** And now the brown spotting has turned into a full blown period... Any thoughts... that means I am having 14 day cycles????? I am so at a loss!
