Spotting between periods could be caused by uterine polyps. You should ask your gyno to do an ultrasound to rule that out before you get the IUD. The IUD helps for bleeding but only if your uterus is clear of polyps and/or fibroids. Otherwise you'll still have bleeding issues anyway even with the IUD.
Mine started in January, the whole month, but only with spotting. But this month, starting 3/15, I started spotting. And today I am bleeding but not heavily with some small clots. I am not on any medication just multivitamins. I do work graveyard shifts as a nurse and thought it could be stress or not eating right. Someone please help in answering our questions. I had a difficult time understanding your post. I am unsure if you are currently having your period or not. I'm not sure why YOU'RE not sure if you had some spotting. I don't mean this to sound nasty, Sweetie, but either you did or you didn't have some spotting. It's pretty difficult to not recognize spotting when we see it.
You said that when you wiped, there was a brown, gooey discharge. Almost all women get this from time to time.

There can be many causes of spotting, light periods and irregular periods. The exact cause can be determined only after knowing your complete medical history, clinical examination and work up. Stress, hormonal fluctuations, pregnancy, use of birth control pills, thyroid disorders all can affect your menstrual cycles. It is best to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated. For the last two months, I have noticed that I have bleeding/spotting between my periods. last month I did not think too much about it coz it was very light. This time it was more although I did not have to wear sanitary napkins.. But am worried. Am scared of going to the doc as well..... Can anyone tell me if this is serious?

I ,too, have alot of spotting with discharge between my cycles. I do have a cyst on my left ovary associated with pcos. I'm am on metformin. I know they cause irregular bleeding. What I don't understand is why I am spotting the same time every month. I've read it could have alot to do with the changes in hormones. I've also heard some people spotting just before or during ovulation.
Irregular periods and spotting in between can be a sign of a hormone imbalance.
If you are not eating properly and may be anaemic that too can throw your menstrual cycle off balance as too can stress.
It was wise of you to do a pregnancy test, because sometimes you can get a light show of spotting.

I am a 20-year-old female. About 7 months ago, I began spotting between periods. It would happen once or twice a month, in the middle of my menstrual cycle, and would last 2-3 days. The blood was light brown in color. After this happened a couple times, I went to see a gynecologist. When I described it to her, she said it was normal and that it was because I was ovulating, and that it may have been caused by stress.
Then I began to have vaginal spotting in between periods. Still, I have a regular menstruation. I noticed increase in discharge and a different smell. Just this week, I am having severe pain in my left iliac (lower left of the abdomen) spreading up to my left thigh, lower back and less pain on the right iliac. Even after urinating it still feels painful.
Last month I started to have some brown spotting between my periods. I didn't think much of it, but it seriously lasted from like...five days after the end of my period until the beginning of my next period. That worried me. But it went away after my most recent period ended, so I thought I was fine. But today I noticed it was starting up again. My period ended a week ago. What is going on?
If you were my patient, I would advise you that normal periods last between 4-7 days. Sometimes they can trail off a bit with some spotting, or sometimes there can be a day or two of spotting beforehand. I would certainly want to hear from my patient if she was having periods lasting longer than 10 days for more than one month.

February the 7th came and the cycle was brown, but full, “no spotting”, the 8th brown spotting, the 9th spotting, 10 gone? Implantation bleeding maybe 2? How long/soon does this happen if it was/is implantation bleeding 3?
I don’t believe in drugs so I don’t take medications/ birth control pills, nor do I smoke or drink. I’m not strict on my diet but I have an ok one. I am healthy and my family has no trace or any cancer.
If pregnancy is ruled out then other causes will need to be looked into. Use of pills and depot shots do causes spotting between periods.
Hey everyone I am asking this question regarding my girlfriends problems she has been having lately. She usually has her period between the 20th-30th every month. She didnt have hers in august because she had just had her gallbladder removed im thinking, but had some weird things start to happen in early september. She thought she was having a period around the 8th of september but she said it was just spotting. I picked up a preg. test and it said negative.
