Spotting between periods first time

Common Questions and Answers about Spotting between periods first time

period

I am just curious has anybody had spotting in between their periods. I had sex on my period on the 1st of May. About 8 days later ( 5 or 6 after my period ended) I noticed spotting in my underwear. It was very light and I never saw this spotting again. I have had no symptoms of STDs (although I know often times they rarely show symptoms) and I know I am not pregnant because I had my next period on the 25 of May. I am just curious if anybody might know what this is?
I had spotting mid cycle for the first time last week. I went to my doctor and she ordered a pelvic u/s. I have a complex cyst on my ovary that will need further evaluation. I don't think situps cause spotting. My doctor said any mid cycle spotting needs further evaluation.
My first time it fell out according to my doctor so about 6 monhs later I got another inserted because I felt Mirena was the best bith control. This first time my periods was never normal I was having periods months at a time instead of a couple days like I'm use to. So this time around right away I started having periods every other month and it is still like that since Nov 2011.
I went off the pills in Sept. and had been having regular cycles since. So this has been the lonest time between my periods. What if I ovulated late and got pregnant then. When would I ever find out!
One time before it lasted a week. The spotting (about 1-1/2years ago) was again for a week. Had a pap smear done at this time and it came back ok. We have no kids. I will dicuss it with my doctor when I go but any help will be appreciated.
I sometimes get dark blood discharge in between periods it last a few days to a week and ranges from a little smear to sometimes a clump. It does not hurt and does not flow like my period. It's more like dark (almost black)discharge. I notice I get it a day or two after exercising and thought I might be aggravating something. This has been happening sporadically over 5 years.. I am 31 years old.
It is good to know that I am not the only one. I thought it was strange that I completely stopped. This is the first time it has happened. Though I am young (20 years old) I have had very regular periods since I was about 16. So maybe it is normal that things are changing?
The last two months I have had spotting almost constantly between periods and both months right around the time I am suppose to ovulate I have had sharp pains in my perineum (area between vagina and rectum) that only last a few minutes, usually at night and only one or two days. I have had a pap in the last year and have never had a bad one come back. Has anyone had similar symptoms??? I have a gyno appointment in 2 1/2 months, but I wonder if I should go sooner.
Well to answer the first part of your question...difference between pms and pregnancy symptoms varies women to women. Many women experience what they think are pregnancy symptoms...bloating, tender breasts, etc. and they are in fact pms symptoms. Also, to have pregnancy symptoms that early is actually very rare, although it does happen. Now, the next part...your cycles are 123 days apart? So you have less then 3 periods a year? I would think you might want to see a Dr.
I had a bit of a scare when my bf touched me with precum on his hands but it was clearly dried out by the time he did. And the other day he came on the couch next to me for the first time ever but I wasn't near his ejaculatory fluid at all. You see, I have very bad anxiety and just SEEING that has made me feel like maybe I am pregnant. I can talk myself out of it but it still keeps me up at night. This weird period was 7 days ling and I'm pretty sure it was way too heavy to be spotting.
I wasn't sexually active or anything at the time, but it was just out of the blue - usually my cycles are between 28-35 days and then I had that random really short one. That is what your 5 spotting days sound like to me. As for symptoms, I am not sure - would be something to ask the Dr., I'd think. Don't stress about cervical cancer until you actually have information from the doctor. I'd think that that would definitely be an extreme reason for a short period or your other symptoms.
I have vaginal bleeding and spotting in between periods. Its been going on for over 3 years. My gyno doctor just keeps changing my birth control pills. I'm very frustrated at this point. Is this something that you experienced?
I am about 13 weeks pregnant and I just noticed a tiny blood stain ony underwear. I haven't spotted since I got pregnant, I use to spot in between periods, should I be concerned??
Some women spot right before thier period (due the build up of blood in the uterine lining and the cervix preparing for menstration). Both are completly normal. Spotting is also common during the first couple months of pregnancy at your normal time of menstration. If you are pregnant and your spotting is more than just a little bit of light pink, I would see your OBGYN just to be safe.
The Leutal Phase (the time after ovualation) lasts between 12 - 16 days. Once you figure out how long yours is, it probably won't vary a whole lot from month to month. As far as spotting goes, this could be normal. I've tried finding info on menses b/c last cycle she hung around for a painful 11 days. Anyhow, a few abnormal cylces a year is nothing to be concerned about -- according to everything I read. Hope this helps, GL to you.
My period isn't due for approx 2 weeks. I have never spotted between periods before. for the last two years my periods have been regular to the day. Is this a common after effect of the sponge, is my body just cleansing the spermicide out, or should I be really concerned and get to a hospital? Thank you in advance for any help.
Hello, This brown spotting could be due to early start of periods. Other main causes of spotting between periods could be due to pregnancy, birth control pills, infection in an area of the body related to menstruation (including the vagina, the cervix and even the bladder). Other causes could be polycystic ovarian syndrome, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone and uterine abnormalities like fibroid and cervical dysplasia.
What you're describing is very similar to what I experienced just prior to my FINAL period three years ago. Yes, periods can come every two weeks. The intervals between periods can be long or short. Basically, the cycle becomes really unpredictable and irregular before it ends completely. Not fun, since it seems like you have to carry tampons or napkins/panty liners with you ALL THE TIME, not knowing when it could sneak up on you again.
The last time we had sex 5 days ago, and the first time last month was around 15 days ago. I have no idea what this could be caused by...i never spot between periods, i'm really stressed about this. I went for a blood test yesterday, but i haven't gotten any results back...any other causes for this??
