Avatar f tn Hello, Yes, any weather change can affect arthritis. I have Osteoarthritis in my spine and my shoulder. Also, Fibromyalgia can be diagnosed by a Neurologist and in some ways in makes more sense, but since Rheumatologists have set the criteria for diagnosing and treatment, it is much better to at least be seen by a Rheumatologist for the initial diagnosis and treatment suggestion. Sometimes other types of doctors opinions do not hold up in court if you ever were to have to file for disability.
634723 tn?1222677500 I agree with txsilver- I have osteoarthritis in my lumbar region and I have the same symptoms. Only a doctor could diagnose her, but the shooting pains could be compressed nerves and that could be cause by arthritis or even simple bulging disks. I would start with her PCP they can at least order x-rays and get the ball rolling. Best of luck to you and your wife! D.
Avatar m tn Hello. My father is 61 and has hypermobility and osteoarthritis. His mobility is really poor and he can't walk very far. His blood pressure is normal and he has no problem breathing. I've noticed both his ankles are swollen. He said they swell then they can go down again. He also said warm weather can make it worse. He went to see a doctor in Italy when he lived there who didn't seem concerned. My father is putting it down to his trouble walking. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn If you gave age, occupation and gender it would be a help. This could be osteoarthritis. An x-ray might help.
Avatar f tn I've had mri's of my spine and shows osteoarthritis with bone spurs in cervical thoracic and lumbar. This was done in 2007 (i was 35), now i have this horrible tendonitis in both wrists and i'm on prednisone. Could this be related to the arthritis? i'm seeing an ortho but he doesn't know about the osteoarthritis (i was just rereading my reports and it jumped out at me). What should i expect with this diagnosis?
Avatar f tn I have Osteoarthritis and it is getting worse. I taken Celebrex, Norco, Tramadol and Vicopren. None of these are working. I don't have insurance and go to a public health clinic. They don't seem to know what to do. Could you please advise me on what I can take that will help with the chronic pain and will be inexpensive.
529224 tn?1400648219 The other knee was about to be replaced in 2012 and an emergency came in and my OP was postponed.I took up hill walking, despite it hurt, aquafit twice a week and swimming lengths (not breaststroke!) - which my consultant had suggested before first knee OP, and my knee (despite being in a worse arthritic state than the first knee before OP!) improved - I don't have pain, or instability anymore!
513154 tn?1340225289 I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
Avatar n tn t tried it myself yet, only because I HATE taking pills, but have heard a few success stories about Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Another thing you can do is start physical therapy. Strengthening the muscles and tendons around the joints helps to slow the degenerative changes.
Avatar m tn I have osteoarthritis in my neck moderate and mild in lower back. Can and adjusment help? will they even do an adjustment me? i seem to be losing sensativity in my legs but dont know if iy du to oa in back nad neck.any help would be great. thank you.
Avatar m tn t expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
Avatar f tn Does osteoarthritis generally cause an elevated Sed Rate and and elevated C-Reactive Protein? Anyone have these tests elevated with your condition? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I can only tell you about my own experience. I am a resident of Canada's Yukon Territory. As much as I love the place, the cold is hard on me. I got to spend a short time in Florida the last 2 winters and I found it very agreeable. My husband and I plan to spend 3 months in Florida this winter. I don't know if summer in Florida would be good for me, since really hot weather and high humidity bother me as well.
Avatar f tn The doctors insist I have fibro and some osteoarthritis in my knees and back, but no RA. My sister has RA, and, like you, I think I may have it but they keep saying no.
Avatar f tn Hi,thanks in advance for any responses...much appreciated and my drs. do not know. I've been menopausal since Nov.2011(my last period) and I've been diag.hypothyr.about 3-5 yrs. I'm currently on estrogen patch+progesterone+150 mcg synthroid. Wondering if anyone has had experience with hip (actually where the leg and hip meet)pain that disturbs their sleep? Also on another note wondering the best labs to target any such problems, whether hormone or thyroid related.
Avatar m tn The osteoarthritis may progress slowly over time. Strengthening the muscles that support the neck and cervical spine may lesson symptoms of pain and discomfort. ~•~ Dr. Parks This answer is not intended as and does not substitute for medical advice. 728965 tn?1266373645 I know what you mean...we have also had some severe weather fluctuations and it really gets into the bones. Have you tried to rub some muscle creme on it? You could also ask the doc. for Lidoderm patches and see if they help alleviate the pain. I hope you can get relief soon. Please be safe and take care.
Avatar n tn My fibromyalgia is focused in my back, ALL of my back; upper, lower, middle, and both sides. F.Y.I. I also have osteoarthritis and osteopenia(?) and (in case it's relevant) I had whiplash (upper back/neck) in Dec. 1987. Now, my questions are: Do Fibromyalgia patients typically experience 'flare ups'? I've been on a combination of Gabapentin and EffexorXR for treatment and often the pain is manageable and under control.
Avatar m tn I'm 50 and my dr diagnosed me with shoulder arthritis. He said it's osteoarthritis with cartilege gone. It's only been 3 months since my diagnosis and already I'm having sharp pain in my shoulder and pain down my arm. Is this normal? Yesterday I shoveled snow with full strength and ROM but today I have sharp pain in my shoulder off and on. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?
Avatar n tn Can ANYONE recommend a doctor between Columbia and Augusta that will stop jacking me around, and listen to what works? I work with my hands, and with this weird weather I am in agony. I have to pay cash, so keep this in mind.
272434 tn?1228607209 I also have carpal tunnel and I have osteoarthritis. Both very painful, and I also need surgery, and I told them not right now. I take a long time to heal, and that alone is enough for me not to have surgery. I also use splints at night, and I have had to cut back on my quilting, but I refuse to stop all together. The osteoarthritis I have in all of my joints as well as RA, I have a triple whammy.
Avatar n tn I have been looking on the internet and found a few things I am thinking it might be like bursitis, because i allso have a constant pain in my left heel as well for like two weeks now. I was allso thinking osteoarthritis which my dad and uncle have and they both had symptoms at an early age,but my doctor has done a blood test in november2010,and just did an x-ray of my hips and lower back and said that there were no signs but i really believe it is.
136956 tn?1688675680 I know it is only going to get worse and it hurts all the time pain scale is usually a steady 5 and will go up and down depending on the weather, sleep and food. I guess I could tolerate it a bit more rather than have the surgery and find out I had serious nerve damage. I already have way too many health issues to begin with so I would be afraid to do this again incase it makes it worse.
