I was kicked off the methadone programe for take clonazapam I was on Methadone program for year and 1/2 so my methadone doctor kicked me out of the program and did not wean me off so my family doctor put me on morphine so I would not go thru withdrawal how long should it take me to do this and be withdrawal free

my 42 year old dgt will be taking herself off methadone . our plan is for myself to keep a certain amount of the pills and only give her a certain number of them, so as to gradually wean herself off, not just going cold turkey. what synptoms should we be aware of?

Thanks for your advice, I am just scared that I am taking the methadone for a few days to help with the vic/perc withdrawal, only to experience withdrawal from the methadone! I hope not. But at the same time, if I am only taking 5mg-10mg of methadone per day, I am hoping that is unlikely after only a few days.

Do you plan on tapering at all? Even though you have only been taking it twice a week, that is a pretty hefty dose. I don't really have any experience with methadone except from what I have read so I don't have the knowledge to answer your question but there are a couple of members that do. Gnarly1 and KC both know a great deal about methadone. They have both tapered off and are clean from methadone and everything else. I'm sure they will be along during the day to help you out.

By taking the Methadone you just jumped right into the fire. It should never be used for a withdrawal from Vicoden. Good luck in whatever you decide.

yes you can and it is a good way to detox off methadone you need to be at 20mg to do the switch but you will be saving your self 90 days of post withdrawal stay on the sub for 90 days then ween off sub is a funny drug some people detox at 2mg with little or no withdrawals others take it down to crumbs and go threw 2 weeks of hell it still beats methadone 90 day withdrawal so its a good plan good luck on your recovery and God bless..........

t started it yet because I am unsure of the interaction. Some say it causes withdrawal for the methadone and some say it increases methadone, talk about confusing!! Please tell me your experience or opinion.

i now want to come off methadone but im afraid of the withdrawal symtons.i am about 50 lbs over weight with high blood preasure and other problems.im not sure why ive waited so long to come to this decision the only thing that comes to mind is that 1 im afraid i will get back on the drugs and 2 im afraid of the withdrawal.i was more afraid in the early years of getting back on drugs but not so much now my life is so different and so far away from that old life i used to live.

Our family has confronted him about this and he says he wants to get off the methadone. He thinks if he goes through rapid detox to get off the methadone and then goes to a counseler - all will be well. Any thoughts or suggestions? I had my last dose sunday night/monday morning. It's now friday. I've been using heroin to stave off the withdrawal.

How much methadone were you taking and for how long? Do you plan on quitting these drugs cold turkey or by tapering. Tapering will make your withdrawals less than if you didn't taper. I believe that the heroin detox is harsh but is over with much faster than methdadone detox. So we really need some more information from you.

ve got methadone to begin with but my withdrawal from roxys was a hard one and I got very scared when I started cramping, fearing I was causing my body to miscarry. I just want to do the right thing but safely.

m wondering, since they are structurally the same, are the Darvocet withdrawals the same as methadone? Can I plan on going through withdrawals for the next 7-9 weeks?

I am just now going into withdrawal from methadone and oxy's and I have one pill for the with drawal symptoms can't remember what its called but suppose to block the opiates or something but also takes symptoms away. t feel too bad by monday, but you will be in withdrawal. The methadone is in your system for 5 days, and half of it is gone in 2 1/2 days. I don't quite understand why they want you in withdrawal if you are going to a methadone clinic. I have heard of it though, but it seems strange. Are you going to an outpatient or are you going to stay there?

I want to add... My worse day of withdrawal was Saturday, 48hrz since last dose of methadone. All i had was restless legs from hell and lower back pain. It magically went away in my sleep Saturday night. Am i out of clear?

He has been a long term painkiller addict and has been on a methadone program for two years. How long are you planning to use the methadone? If you only use it a week or 2, you won't have much of a withdrawal from that. The methadone will be out of you system in 5 days, you will likely feel the withdrawal from the other opiates in a day or two. The methadone will help some with the symptoms until monday. Did the rehab tell you what to do until you get there?

m very aware that methadone is addictive and way worse withdrawal wise. Obviously with the amount/rate I'm going I only have enough for 3 days max. Am I getting myself in worse hole? I have been an opiate abuser for the past two years. at my high point last year i was doing up to 400 mg of oxycodone per day. i did detox and rehab and wasn't doing too bad til i started a new job that gave my access to narcotics approx 4 mo ago. i was clean for approx 2 months prior to that. over the past 4 months i have been taking anywhere from 6 to 18 perc per day. 2 days ago the only thing available was methadone, so i did 10mg in the am and 10mg in the evening.

Well that went on until September 2011 started taking methadone. 40mg and day from September 2011 - June 2012. I came clean to my grandmother & stayed with her for about 3 weeks. She helped me so much. Slipped a few times and found myself on the hydrocodone again :( I'm so tired of this!!!! I love my daughter more than anything in this world & I want us to have a good life. I have the most amazing family.
