methadose

Avatar f tn So I was sent to a pain care center, you probably guessed this....So, they put me on methadone, and dilaudid...I eventually quit dilaudid as it did not help with pain...They switched me to oxycodone and uped methadone...OK, well it turns out I have one bad knee.I am scheduled to have knee replacement surgery on Novemeber 7th. I currently take 60 milligrams of oxycodone and thirty milligrams of methadone...
Avatar f tn I have already caught him once mixing klonopin and his methadone. But I am still very suspicious that he has do so over the week end at his parents house. I was just wondering if you could advise me as to what signs to watch for if I don't catch him right away. Like what the normal side effects within a day or two after that I would be looking for.
Avatar m tn Well I am having surgery tomorrow for endometriosis and I ran out of pain killers yesterday. I had a 5mg methadone from a while back and I took it to help with the pain and to prevent withdrawals. I am now worried to death about this mixed with the anesthesia and the post op pain killers because I know that methadone has a very long half life. Do you guys think I will be ok?
Avatar f tn I don't know. Make sure you speak to the anesthesiologist he would know best. I would also call today and find out. If you take it and it isn't ok than your surgery can be postponed.
Avatar m tn I had ankle fusion surgery and they put me under and I was on Fentanyl and Oxycodone... I didnt have to stop taking my meds to have surgery. Everyone and every surgery is different for every person. I would make sure you are honest and tell them what you have taken, so that there is not anything that could cause a problem or be a surprise...
Avatar f tn Being on this, wilI have any complications for the surgery? I know that when I am taking methadone, it does not let me feel any other drugs, well at least not all of it. Will this complicate the procedure? Will I be ok when I take the anesthesia?
Avatar f tn Have you talked to both your pain management and ob/gyn about replacing your morphine with Methadone? Methadone is prescribed for moderate to severe pain but is also and opiate blocker. Their pamphlet says there have been no official studies on the effects on a baby HOWEVER, of those taking the methadone who were pregnant, they suffered no side effects, birth defects or dependency by the baby. Here is a like to the fact sheet on webmd: http://www.webmd.
Avatar n tn I am currently pregnant and on 120 mgs of methadone....I dont use any other drugs at all. My boyfriend wants me to have an abortion because he thinks the baby will be deformed or slow and have problems or that childrens aid will take the baby immediatly is he right? I really dont want to have an abortion but want to come off of methadone before I give birth. What do you recommend?
Avatar n tn It is best to wait for his recommendations since he will be doing the surgery and KNOWS your medical background, what medications will be used for the surgery, etc.
1264367 tn?1408104163 I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.
Avatar f tn **I am approaching this surgery SERIOUSLY and I WANT to 'do it right'. I understand the implications of NOT telling my doctor about medications I'm on. That being said, I do not want to jeopardize being able to HAVE the surgery due to the doctor having a stigma against methadone patients. I have heard PLENTY of horror-stories about people not getting adequate or quality treatment because their doctors have issues with methadone patients.
1985289 tn?1328579594 I was down to 35 mg. and started to have a lot of back/buttocks pain. I had surgery in Dec. for ovarian cyst removal and adhesion removal. Was down for about 3 weeks. But made it up to the clininc every wed. to get my take homes. Things have taken a terrible turn for the worse. The pain has become extreme with leg weakness, weight loss, and for the past 4 weeks haven't been able to have a bm. without taking something.
Avatar n tn Can you get toxicity from taking 10mg methadone daily as prescripted, can it build up in your blood stream, should you have blood level before you have surgery, and after surgery can you take other narcotics when you also have sleep apena
Avatar f tn HI and welcome to the forum.....you need to tell the anesthesiologist that you take methadone and also what dose you take...you can still have surgery but they need to take special precautions so theirs not complications ...dont try to let this just slide past them you would be risking you life....good luck and God bless......
1987167 tn?1326655712 One worry is that I am going to be in more pain than normal because of the methadone and my tolerance. My second worry is that I will be looked at as a drug addict and not given the meds that I need to help with my pain and sent home with tramadol or something. I need to have my gallbladder removed. It isnt invasive surgery, they are doing it by laporosopy, but it will still hurt pretty bad..my tolerence is extremely high it always has been, Im just scared of being in pain.
2202441 tn?1338745201 im in severe pain and do not want to have another surgery...any answers will help..Thank you very much.
Avatar n tn I wake up in the morning and my patches are scratched off(even withTagederm) and there is blood on my sheets. My Dr. suggested spraying Benadryl but there has been no difference. I am having a hard time getting below the 37 mcg but more importantly, is there anything I can do for the itching? Also, he is thinking of trying Morphine or Methadone because he says they are easier to wean off of. Any thoughts? At this point, it feels like the pain is gone and I just want to be done with this.
Avatar n tn I have a few articles about pregnancy on methadone and on Subutex at my blog, Suboxone Talk Zone-- just go there and search for the posts about pregnancy and you should find them. I agree with the prior comment-- we don't know of serious problems from opiates in neonates. The worst part will likely be the judgmental attitudes you will be given by the hospital staff. As for the withdrawal, there are a couple things to remember.
Avatar m tn i started blowing them after surgery should i take the methadone on my 5th day or just got threw without and if i take the methadone whats the side effects
Avatar m tn With opiates, you build up a tolerance and soon the perks wont work. Whereas methadone you don’t build a tolerance for it and it helps with pain. I’m going to have pain for the rest of my life and I am only 25, already had surgery, which helped with the nerve pain but now i just have chronic pain and aches. My doctor even said that I wouldn’t be fully pain-free. What’s wrong with being on methadone instead of opiates especially if it helps with pain?
Avatar m tn Yes I admit it probley-def saved my life, I became addicted to pain pills thru my local hospital awaiting oral surgery for 4 months cause of no insurance and the wait time to get surgery! The Hospital assured me after my surgery and pain is gone I would not have a addiction! Well Thats complete BS! Anywho pills took over and became unaffordable and I took my first shot of heroin on my 30th B-day!
Avatar f tn m in a position where with a probability of surgery on Both neck and Hips I will need pain med.....so is methadone a good substitute or do they not prescribe either due to THC? I am so ready to do whatever I need to BE ME again, even been looking into inpatient for withdraws (Before they found the prob). I just want to Feel good physically and emotionally about myself. Not sure if my question are appropriate her grateful for any insights.
Avatar n tn I have been on it for 6yrs. at a dose of 195 per day- I recently had a surgery and the doctor refuses to give me pain pills because he says methadone should block all my pain.
4407520 tn?1363011865 I made an account on here though, so anyone who can relate pr would like to talk about my (or their) gastroparesis and methadone issue, please add me as an friend and message me. Thank you. My prayers to all the sick.
Avatar m tn I'm on110mgs of methadone a day.I'm getting surgery very soon for my gallbladder. I've been in pain for months now i just want it out.I'm scared i will be treated different from other patents that aren't on methadone by doctors.the thing i am wondering is will my methadone block other pain medications the doctors give me.Ive had other surgery's and i know ill need them.I'm scared they will deny me the proper medications for pain because of my past.
1091982 tn?1256942513 my family doctor suggested that i try suboxone. i have tried methadone clinics in the past, and i get much higher doses than any doctor would give me, but i cannot afford the private 13 dollar a day clinic, and the "free' clinic just feels too much like scoring to me. I was supposed to have knee surgery today, but my anesthesiologist canceled it because i could barely speak on the phone yesterday.
603838 tn?1238534975 One of my best friends has been taking heavy painkillers to manage pain due to disk surgery and partial replacement. They have been switching between things as heavy as morphine and methadone. They found her thanksgiving day not breathing with foam coming out of her mouth and nose. She was in respiratory arrest and flown to a better hospital in the neighboring state.
