Methadone and melatonin

Common Questions and Answers about Methadone and melatonin

methadose

I am not familiar w the calm forte...I wonder if it is similiar to the naturalcalm we drink? Melatonin should not bother you the next day. We are taking valerian root drops....ugh. We feel rough in the mornings but not so much tired.
Has anyone had any luck with melatonin for anxiety and sleep? I am looking for something to take the edge off the W/D's and to help me sleep at night.
Have been on methadone for about 6 months and Doctor will not give me anymore; so I was wanting to get off it any how, but my question is I was taking about 30mgs a day and I am having rough nights my arms and legs jerk all night and prevents sleep. Is there anything I can take or do to help or just wait it out? The Dr. gave me this drug instead of something less potent so I am glad now it is over and I am free (Future tense). Any help with this process would be great, thank you all!!
it will take time for your body, soul, mind, emotions and spirit to heal. keep the faith. you have done awesome. did you get the natural sleep aids with melatonin and valerian root? alteril and or sleep by nature made. stay strong. you are breaking free.
I always think if I can sleep through the bad times I can make it but the only sleep I can get is if I take xanax or somas. Was out of xanax and broke down and took somas. I had not been taking them. So now I have let myself down. I swear, I hate this stuff!! I hate it so much. The last time I had bad reactions to methadone I went a good while without pain meds or xanax but this time, I have been in such pain I took the pain meds the doc. gave me for my shoulder.
melatonin is natural and perfectly safe. if it doesn't help, you might go to the health food store and get some kava kava, also a natural relaxer, and non-adictive.
ok i have been off methadone for about a month and two weeks i am feeling much better but still cant sleep. any suggestions, how long is it supposed to last?
He may also be able to give you the name of a reputable and informative website that has that type of info. Melatonin helps with sleep and is natural remedy, but again, not sure about the interaction. Nyquil helps too.
alteril, or sleep by nature made the main ingredients are valerian root and melatonin. you will pass through a few stages, physical withdrawal, then mental depression and then an energy crash.it will take a few months for you to feel better. i am sorry to have to tell you this. please try to be patient. sleep takes awhile to come back. your body has to begin to produce endrophins, seratonins and dopamines again.
will the serum level also drop when I taper? and wil I feel anything being I have only 3 months on methadone?
Hi, I realllllllllly feel for u! I found a Methadone clinic in the yellow pages and they offered suboxone as well. Call your local hospital ER for the name of area clinics. If u were in OKC i could help, but if it gets too bad, just know u can go to one of the clinics and get fast help. My clinic will also work w/ tapering and there is a Dr. u see regularly.
It was too big a dose to just suddenly stop, and it backfired bigtime. I was there for 6 weeks and really suffered, and for weeks after i came home it was the same. Constant diarrhoea and insomnia which made me so lothargic, i was in bed for weeks and cudnt do anything. Eventually I cudnt hack it no more, and ended up using heroin again, then back on methadone, this time paying for it rather than going back to the doc.
I am on day 6 without methadone and I am still having trouble getting around and still cant sleep very well, when will I feel my energy come back and what can I do to get though the rest of this? I am going back to work on monday is that to soon yet? I am taking vitamins but still nothing when will it get better for me?
hello, I am clean from methadone for 3mnths and I wet c/t w/d lasted about 7=8 wks and still feel some effects of them.
now i'm doing it, it's just a kind of uncomfortable thing i'm doing and i'm so happy i am, and i know it won't last forever. if you really want to do it you can, and i guess sooner is much better than later - i sure wish i'd found the courage sooner! so far it's not as bad as i expected. you'll be ok, it IS possible! maybe only take 5mg for a few days then stop?
but the subooxne is a little milder tapering down and will still stop the horrid withdrawals from methadone and the cravings for all opiates. and it stops you from getting highfrom other opiates fora long long time. you should defintely give that a shot i know its def. easier than tapering down completely off of methadone and you will feel more stable, structured, productive, and motivated to get compleltely clean.
I am on day 12 of the withdrawls. I was on 120mgs of methadone and quit cold turkey for a couple different reasons but lets just say it was my only option. I spent a week in the hospital and still can barely walk. My son is 7 and I have to be a mom. My question is when does your body go back to normal. When can you stand without pain. When does the energy come back. When will i sleep again. Using is not an option anymore and I am craving just anything to make this stop.
HI Teri first off it is very doable but you got to want it bad it gets prity tuff in the lower doses there are some things you can do that will make it ezer for 1 get up to walmart and pick up a 3 in 1 vitamin calcium/magnesium/zinc and take 4 in the morning and 4 with dinner in a few days this will cut down on the withdrawals your feeling......
well I came off 150mg over 8 and 1/2 months I took it all the way down to 1mg I was on it almost 7yrs and was in my 40s when I quit my withdrawal was still substantial but very doable tapering below 5 is miserable and always recamend jumping off at 5 the big thing with methadone is sleep and not getting it for a month also there is a ''energy crash'' that hits and it is hard to get around you really got to want it bad but it sounds like you do time to pull the plug and see how it goes you cannot
That was the dose I was prescribed, but was taking much more, because I am an addict. Then I got turned on to methadone 10mg and discovered that just a few of these relieved the pain far more than the norco. So for the past 9 months I have been on methadone 10 mg at a dose of 4 per day. I thought that I was taking less pills, so that ment I was doing better. I didnt know that I was now, with the methadone, in the belly of the beast. This addiction has affected my whole life.
Thank you everyone for your insight and support. Today is day 9 off 80 mg methadone. He is feeling alot better and actually slept a lit bit longer last night. He was taking Benadryl for sleeping but that really just makes the restless legs worst. I told him to try melatonin it works pretty well. He says he is not going to even try and get in a clinic now he never wants to go through all this again. It was a tough week for all and thankyou all again.
Good Morning and welcome to the forum! I don't have any methadone experience and I don't think alot of people are up yet.....but you will get answers you just may have to wait a bit.... If you look to the right of the screen there are health pages click on those and there is info in there that can help you as well. You will get responses it just might be a bit! Don't beat yourself up....don't feel like a failure....you can beat this and you will!
then down to ten, then five, then four, then two and one-half, then one and a quarter mg, then zero. I'm tired and I don't know if it's from the chemo i had , but the tiredness started five weeks after chemo, and when I started reduction. Nerves, ehaustion, body aches, toilet problems, sneezing, drippy nose, trembling hands, can't make it through the day. How long did it take for you's, Any foods I should stay away from, any I should be taking. I'm taking vitamins and protein shakes.
it has the amino acids as well as raw protein for energy other then that you just got to go threw it I had a heavy and long habit on methadone and have helped a lot of people for most it is a 60 to 90 day deal each month will come with victory's celebrate them as for the bad days ''you just got to be ok without being ok'' keep posting for support we all want to see you make it..........................Gnarly.....................................
You did a decent taper, so hopefully it won't be too bad. Methadone stores in fat and bones, so it releases slowly and that's possibly why you're not feeling it yet. If you start taking Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc, 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening, it will help with the arms coiling up like snakes. That feeling is horrible, but will pass. Congrats on getting your life back, you won't regret it. Keep posting for support and advice.
When I do lay down, I toss and turn and sweat and cold... I HATE it. I am determined to go off the methadone. can anyone tell me how long the w/d symptoms will potentially last? I know that a relaspse back to heroin is not an option ( I know that I will not go back that route) 2 nights ago, I took a tylenol PM and it didn't help. Last night, I actually slept for 6hrs but I think it was because I hadn't slept well in a few days. Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE recommend anything? Anything inexpensive??
I don't have experience with methadone but many here do and I am sure you will get some responders very soon. I did go through an opiate detox so I do understand how you are feeling. have you looked at the Thomas Recipe? It has lot of information about remedies that can help with the symptoms. Hot baths are great for the RLS and achiness, as well as extra magnesium. Immodium helped me a lot with the stomach problems. Are you drinking a lot of fluids and eating?
I have detoxed from methadone many times and have now been off of it and all dope for 6 years. I believe and many addiction docs also believe, that longer slow tapers are a waste of time and acually may draw out the misery. I think you could drop 5 per day but you probably won't want to do that so just bear in mind, the real detox doesn't start until a few days after your last dose.
Can anyone tell me from their own experiences how long this will last. I've been on prescriptions pain killers for 12 years and on methadone for over a year.I would have never started if my pain doc would have told me the hell I would be in when trying to kick this. You that have gone thru this know what I'm going thru. Please give some thoughts so I can have something to hold on too.My wife is totally against drug use of any kind and isn't helping at all.
I tried cold turkey and when my friend saw the shape of me today he gave me the subs and the methadone and told me it would help....I must admit the suboxone did it's been 31 hrs now and I'm only dealing with insomnia and cramping legs...
