Lump in wrist joint

Common Questions and Answers about Lump in wrist joint

lump

hello! I have a medium sized lump on the posterior aspect of my right wrist, almost in line with my index finger, it's neither soft, nor hard just somewhere in between. It has been there for about 3 years but never caused any problems before but now sometimes it's painful to lift heavier objects. It usually grows then goes away for a while just to come back even larger.
The result is a pain in the top of my wrist, right in the middle of the joint. When this happens it hurts to bent my wrist backwards. There is a tender spot where the pain is, and when i press that spot there seems to be a small lump. I asked a friend about it a while ago, who mentioned that it could be a small bone dislocating when i bend my wrist frowards, which then stops the wrist from bending backwards. Any idea it this is the case? Cheers again.
Got my MRI Results back today,,,,seems I have a ganglion cyst in the wrist, which is causing the push-up pain. Has anyone had anything like this before, and if so, what did you do?
Can using a computer mouse result in a PAINLESS lump on the underside of the wrist?
I WENT TO DO SOME SHOPPING AND ON THE WAY HOME I NOTICED THE LUMP RIGHT WHERE THE WRIST JOINT BENDS. IT DOESN'T HURT, IT JUST FEELS LIKE A HARD BONY LUMP. HOW COULD SOMETHING THAT WASN'T THERE IN THE MORNING BE THERE IN THE AFTERNOON ? I DID PICK UP A FEW HEAVY THINGS, BUT DON'T REMEMBER ANY PAIN. ITS NOT SWOLLEN, IT JUST SEEMS TO BE SOME KIND OF LUMP. I CAN PUT PRESSURE ON IT AND IT DOSEN'T HURT. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THIS MIGHT BE OR WHAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED IT ?
Ganglion cysts most commonly occur on the back of the hand (60%-70%), at the wrist joint, and can also develop on the palm side of the wrist. When found on the back of the wrist, they become more prominent when the wrist is flexed forward.
After a week of working there, my fingers, in both hands, began to become stiff in the mornings. My right wrist started to mildly hurt again but it didn't feel like anything serious. For the past week, my right thumb has been in pain and pops at the joint joining it to the rest of my hand. It's gradually getting worse. About 3 days ago, my wrist started to hurt more. Now, it's cracking, swollen, and I can barely move it. I currently have it in a FUTURO splint which makes it feel much better.
Gangion cysts usually appear on the wrist joint or back of the hand in the same area.
M wasn't great, actually i was having several issues going on. he went in and again cleaned out my whole wrist joint and this time put a stich in the TFCC. surgery #3 i was still having pain at the TFCC and the stich from last surgery, also a ganglion cyst formed around the TFCC repair causing a large lump on the pinky side of the wrist. 2 months had gone by and still having lots of pain, Doctor sent me to his buddy another hand Doc.
Then saturday it started to swell very badly. A knot/ lump formed centralized on my hand/ wrist area and my wrist became very stiff and sore. I iced it and took it easy trying not to strain it any more. The swelling seemed to go down some but not a lot when sunday rolled around. I did the same thing hoping it would keep getting better. Later sunday night I noticed it was swelling up again. I continued to ice the injury but no noticable changes.
Hi i'm a 38 year old female experiencing a few problems at the moment, i constantly wake up in the middle of the night with numb hands, my fingers swell often, i have developed a hard lump on my wrist joint, which has been there about a year, was aching but stopped now, and my wrists in particular as well as other joints ache and feel weak, am i suffering from RA?
i have seen hand specialists years ago and one told me my nerves were really close to the surface and when i go to the dentist i have to have topical anesthetic for cleaning, and the gowgants (sorry again for spelling) shot for even a shallow filling that they usually don't give any anesthetic for. also had a small lump removed in dr's office years ago and it took more than twice the amount of local anesthetic to numb me for him to remove lump. there has to be a connection somewhere.
Also, wrist must remain straight during bench press, any angle in the wrist means the weight is put on the joint, not on the muscle. That results in injury. Hope that helps someone.
after weeks on the net, your symptoms sound the closest to mine, after blood test, x rays etc, all they can find is borderline RA, and one of the test for autoantibody came back as 'inbetween', i thought that i had swollen lymph nodes (which i did for months) but when Dr checked today he said they weren't swollen? baffled me as the pain there is awful, (back of neck and groin) he's refered me to the rheumatologist, but i'm left feeling a bit baffled?
I have a tender non moving bone like lump on top of my hand near my wrist in line between my thumb and next finger. I also have swelling and pain in my wrist and knuckles. Any idea's?
That something is wrong. However recently I discovered that I have a lump in my left breast, and it is VERY painful. Even to rub against something puts a lot of discomfort on me. After I found this I called and made an appt with my Dr. She did an exam on my breasts and confirmed that my left breast has a lump in it. She ordered me an ultra-sound, which I am having done on Tues, May 3rd. She told me that depending on what that shows, will determine the next steps to take. She said that the Dr.
Doctor, I have a hard lump on the back of my left wrist, that I think I've had for at least a few years. It seems to extend from at or about the point where my forearm bones meet at the wrist joint, into the "Anatomical Snuffbox". In the adjacent direction, it seems to be about three quarters of an inch across, and it sticks up enough to be easily felt, but not so much as to be noticed by anyone, but me. I'm willing to send a photograph, if you want.
I discovered a lump on my wrist. I had 2 u/s and one MRI where I was told: 1. It is not a cyst as it is solid; 2. It is an ovoid mass adjacent and volar to the distal ulna. Appearances are consistent with a solid mass; 3. Measures 19 mm x 9 mm x 19 mm 4. The appearances are in keeping with an intraarticular lesion at the deep aspect of the volar capsule of distal radioulnar joint; 5.
In all probability you have a ganglion (cyst) or a neurofibroma. Both can cause pain in the wrist joint. A ganglion is a sac-like swelling or cyst formed from lining of a joint or from a tendon. A neurofibroma is a collection of nerve and fibrous tissue. If they are causing pain and pressure symptoms they need to be removed. Please consult your PCP to start with and get a referral for a surgeon. Take care!
My left arm is noticabley weaker then my right and I compensate by using my right as much as I can. A few months ago I developed a small lump in the joint in my left pinky the one closest to my palm. It is very painfull when touched and pressure is applied. My left wrist is noticably skinnier then my right wrist now. I have also been experiencing tingling sensations in my left ear that come and go. For a few years now I have had discomfort in the left side of my chest.
Yesterday I picked up a cup of coffee out of the microwave using my left hand. Immediatly after my wrist got a 1 to 2 inch lump on it. Didnt hurt really. The next day my entire palm side of my wrist is bruised. It isnt painful but it is a bothersome feeling when typing at work and driving. Let me also add that I am 23 years old in good shape. I also have only been working at a job where typing is an everyday occurance for 2 weeks and 1 day.
It is right above the knuckle joint. It is white in the center and has a ring of dark (red) around it. I thought it looked like a planters wart. I bought some wart remover from drug store. After a couple of days when I took the bandage off as per directions. It was white around it and the center was a hole. Didn't have any drainage. Don't remember any strong odor. Wasn't sure if that was good or not so I didn't use it again. Now its even more painful.
Monday (5-6) At night I noticed the rash was starting to get inflamed - she started complaining about her left wrist. Left wrist was swollen and spread to her pinky and her thumb - she couldn't move them! Again she was in pain. I checked the rest of her body and her right ankle looked like it was protruding. She had a hardened lump on top of her ankle - painful to the touch. I gave her pain reliever she went to bed. The next morning the swelling was gone but her wrist was bruised.
A few years ago, I found another one on the right hand on the middle finger in the middle joint. Doesn't bother me so I left it alone. Then about a year ago I got a lump on the top of my left foot that turned out to be ganglion also. Had it removed in Oct. Two months later another one appeared a little further up on the top of my foot. Had it drained and steroid injected. Three months later the same thing happened, but it was a bit bigger. Had it drained, no steroid.
OK, so I just happened to notice that I have an unevenly shaped lump on the back of my L hand. (I am right-handed). It doesn't hurt when I press on it, and feels too firm to be just fluid. My inital google turned up ganglions, but it is not on my joint and seems perhaps too large? It's about 1.5 inches across, and about 1.5 inches above my wrist (closer to my fingers).
As per previous work, I have only worked at a call center but even then I used my left hand to answer the phone and my right to use the key board and the right elbow is the one with the matter hat hand. Now, when I mentioned the lump, the burn was just below the lump on the elbow and it is sensitive when tapping it. -Just started this morning shortly after I woke up -feels like a burn or cut -skin is more red than usual -is it a bite?
I thought it was a wart and froze it with Compund W product, to only have it come back sore and red. Now my joint in my finger is starting to hurt. I don't want to get misdiagnosed when I go to the doctor. Does anyone know what type of Dr. I should go to 1st ( Orthopedic, Dermatolgist etc.
When my sed rate is that high, the inflammation is running rampant through me. He gives me a cocktail injection and in a couple of days I'm feeling better. He wants me to come in every two weeks for a while for an injection to see if we can't keep the inflammation down. The heating pad has become my next best friend.
My right hand hurt, then it hurt worse, I reported it to my doctor who was not particularly interested and did not refer me. Because it was hurting worse, I looked at it again lump and the knuckle at the base of my index finger was was about three to four times the size of the other and it was hard and painful to the touch. I again saw my doctor and he said it was probably joint capsule inflamation and a steroid shot would most likely fix it and referred me.
I have had pain in my armpits which comes and goes for the last five months. Have had CAT scan which showed no abnormalities. Pain seems to increase with mental stress or pysical excercise. Any ideas?
