Common Questions and Answers about Losing weight quickly permanently

losing-weight

Avatar n tn Losing weight quickly usually means putting it back on, because the only way to permanently lose weight is to permanently change your diet and lifestyle, and that takes time. Of course, if you're grossly overweight and completely sedentary, losing weight will be quicker doing anything positive than if you're not that overweight and already exercising, in which case it will take more time but also be easier to get to your ultimate goal.
Avatar n tn First, if you're at all muscular, you're not all that overweight. If you're not muscular, you don't need to lose a ton of weight. Calories aren't key to losing weight -- how quickly and efficiently you metabolize your food into sugar and how well you digest your nutrients is far more important.
Avatar n tn If you've doing these things already for awhile, then no, it won't suddenly start making you lose weight. If you just started doing this, then it might. If you were completely sedentary your whole life and you're young, starting any exercise program and eating better should start showing some results quickly.
407790 tn?1397761026 I do hope things work out for you, and you lose the weight. I am sure everything will be fine for you. I am still losing weight after stopping Effexor 6 months ago. Seems you were OK stopping the Pristiq, which is good news. Take care, and keep in touch.
Avatar m tn There are ways to lose weight quickly, though you don't say how quickly or how much weight you want to lose. Some are logical but absurd, such as stop eating, take speed, and the like. But if you're looking to permanently lose weight and keep it off, doing it quickly might actually work against you. The key to permanent weight loss is to alter permanently your metabolism both in digesting food and in your energy output. You increase your metabolism by exercising or just moving more.
Avatar m tn You're posing this on the anxiety forum instead of the weight loss forum, so I have to ask, you say this is causing you anxiety but anxiety is a state of mind -- most people do not become chronically anxious about life's problems. They might bother them, but they either do something about it or they don't but they don't worry themselves sick over it. That's what anxiety is, worrying unproductively, chronically, pathologically.
Avatar n tn re not the most important tool for choosing a diet -- some high calorie foods are very good for losing weight, some low calorie foods are bad for losing weight. The real issue is how you metabolize and digest your food, and that will differ by the person.
Avatar n tn t a lot, but losing weight slowly by changing your diet and exercise habits permanently, not by using some "diet," will make it more likely the weight will stay off.
Avatar f tn (Heart, immune system, skin, etc) or are most of the effects of obesity largely reversible? I’m losing the weight regardless, just want to have clearer expectations and whatnot, and to see what else I can do to be in good health. No diabetes, no surgeries or any health conditions, no broken bones etc, been blessed thus far with my health. Just hoping that losing this weight can add years to my life, increase quality of life, and help prevent things like heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, etc.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure that's a factor given the amount of weight you intend to lose. At your age, you probably won't have that problem, but as we age, we get loose skin whether we're losing weight or not. Better to lose it now than later. I would imagine that if you incorporate resistance training in your exercise regimen you can work on that, but know that once you do resistance training and gain muscle, you have to maintain it or it will turn into loose skin. Look.
198506 tn?1251156915 t start noticing a diffeent in my weight until after 10lbs. keep on losing and you will notice your weight loss soon.
Avatar f tn What you want to do for weight is change to a healthy way of eating that lasts permanently, lose weight slowly, and it will stay off as it will permanently alter your metabolism. If you don't exercise, you can't lose fat in a healthy way because you will lose muscle. Muscle is heavier than fat, so it will make you look thinner but you won't be strong or healthy and eventually will become fatigued. You say it works because you're losing weight.
11100381 tn?1436779908 I am at week 10, and instead of the morning sickness getting better, it's getting worse. I went from massive fruit cravings, to eating pancakes now and then, to eating portions about half a sandwhich, and now, I can barely eat a piece of toast. I was drinking ensure to make up for what I havn't been eating, but now I can't stomach even that. I feel so hungry and everytime I try to eat, my stomach screams in pain at me and I usually end up throwing it up.
Avatar m tn It will be easier to help if you tell us something about your diet and exercise and age and overall health. All things being equal, meaning no health problems altering your basic make-up, eat less and exercise more. Eat better -- lots of veggies, whole grains, legumes, fish, moderate intake of red meat, cut out most of the excess sugar, try not to eat too much of the simple carbs that turn quickly into sugar if not burned, and increase the amount of physical energy you expend.

Avatar n tn As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?
6520484 tn?1399082398 But I still have 20lbs of fat that I put on during the pregnancy. Just wondering if anyone had success in losing the baby weight? I could use some pointers. I already eat healthy and all I drink is water and milk, no juice or pop or anything. I'm too tired to exercise (with Two week old baby and all). Anyone do anything to lose the weight that really worked?
978106 tn?1285108401 I do not expect to lose alot of weight at a time. I want to do this slowly so it will stick, but the problem is im gaining weight. I lost 11lbs at first and have since gained back 3 in the last 2 weeks. I also have been more active over the last month, but admit not so much in the last week, I took a full time temp job and go to school full time so I have not had the time as of late. Help!
Avatar f tn There really isn't a way to lose weight quickly, if you're going to it in a healthy manner. In order to have a body that's healthy and that you can be proud of, you have to eat healthy and exercise. For starters, give up sodas (including diet) and drink water instead. That alone could save quite a few calories, depending on how many sodas you drink each day. Additionally, eat a yogurt after exercising, instead of a candy bar, etc.

Avatar m tn Losing weight quickly isn't great for keeping it off. Changing your diet permanently to a better, healthier one will work better than severe calorie restriction, especially when you're increasing exercise.
Avatar f tn Plus, I breastfed and ended up losing the rest pretty quickly.
5891248 tn?1406410864 I don't think u should try to lose weight... If ur gaining weight too quickly try changing ur eating habits... When ur pregnant u should never try to lose weight..
Avatar n tn Losing weight quickly is not a solution it will only cause you too gain more when you start eating normally again. You should aim to lose 2 pounds a week and can do that by simply eating a healthy balanced diet. Drink 8 glasses of water a day and try to have vegetables with everything you eat!
