Avatar n tn As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?
Avatar n tn I'm trying to join the air force but I'm 10lbs over the limit. To lose weight I started doing 2 hours of cardio one in the morning one at night. At first I started losing but after 2 week I'm gaining what cardio should I do to lose weight without muscles?

2053729 tn?1330435506 According to what I have researched, my BMR is 2485 and I eat about 1800 calories a day, so I should be losing weight just being me. Add in the approximate 2000 calories I burn with my exercise and I should be melting into a puddle! We do a lot of weights, pilates, abs, pushups, strength bands and squats at my aerobics class so I know my body is changing. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I have had my thyroid checked in the last 4 months and it was "normal".
Avatar f tn I certainly gained weight when I started lifting weights -- most of my life before that was spent playing sports or running that were mostly cardio, but weight lifting made me a bit broader. You can avoid that by focusing your weight training on areas you want to focus it on rather than on areas where you are naturally larger anyway, not that it will make you healthier but it might give you more the look you seem to be most concerned with.
Avatar f tn I would recommend you add a weight lifting portion to your workouts and change up your cardio... the stair climber is the BEST machine for cardio in my opinion. Does your gym have classes? I would also recommend doing one or a couple in addition to your regular work outs. Muscle confusion is proven sucessfull in aiding people to lose weight. If you do the same thing everytime you are not challenging yourself.
Avatar f tn There are two types of exercise--cardio and strength training. Cardio primarily utilizes the heart and lungs. Cardio is a key tool for weight loss due to its capability to burn calories. While you may also build muscle, it is minimal compared to strength training routines. Strength training exercises are performed to build muscle, but they also burn calories. Added muscle will shape and tone your body and may lead to a loss of inches before you see a weight loss reading on the scale.
Avatar f tn hi...i think .losing weight is a time taking process..cycling is best to lose extra pounds...continue walking....it will be best to take high protein diet ...and also you need motivation and patience so just start finding a companion ...with the same problems...and go for a walk together..and please stop taking stress...stress can make it only worse....
Avatar f tn Workout is important but diet is more important, you should take a controlled diet and count your calories. Hope this will help you in losing weight.. You can also try diet supplements with your weight loss program..
Avatar f tn Each one of your meals should include a protein source, a fat source and low-carb vegetables. Working out is extremely important to losing weight quickly and keeping it off. It is best to do some sort of resistance training like weight lifting. If that is not an option, cardio workouts work too.
Avatar n tn If your calorie intake is greater than the calories you burn from exercising then you will not lose weight. What type of exercising are you doing? Cardio or strength or are you doing both.
Avatar m tn I weigh about 287lbs (my goal is approximately 215lbs mostly muscle) at the moment after losing about 25lbs last month. I do cardio 6 days a week for 45 mins each time. I alternate my cardio workouts between the elliptical, the treadmill, and I use the bike and stairmaster seldomly. I am noticing great weight loss with this routine. I also do a pretty decent ab workout (which is tough for a fat guy) one or two days a week. I have coupled this routine with an effective diet as well.
Avatar n tn Exercise is a way of life that brings your body to good health while losing weight or mantaining weight. 1-2 lbs is a reasonable weight loss goal per week not much more. Remember 1 lbs of fat is 3500 calories so you will have to burn that much calories in order to lose just 1 lb of fat. Be patient is it happens slowly.
Avatar n tn Losing slowly and steadily by changing your lifestyle and diet is the way to go, but nobody can tell you how quickly the weight will come off. It depends on your metabolism, how much exercise you can handle, and how disciplined and knowledgeable you are about eating healthfully.
Avatar n tn Hey everyone I am 17 years old and I am overweight I weigh 250 lbs and I really, really want to lose weight but I keep gaining more and plus when I do get done exercising I get hungry. What should I do? And what are your suggestions for losing weight if you don't mind me asking?
Avatar f tn Its good you've set a goal and are looking to find out how to achieve it! However losing 15 pounds in a month is unrealistic and unhealthy. Did you know it takes about a year for your body to adjust to losing 10 pounds? It's important to remember weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. In order to lose weight and keep it off, you shouldn't look at it as weight loss but a way to become healthier!
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, losing weight quickly will lead to saggy skin. But you're also young, which means your skin is likely to bounce back. Try to lose slowly. This is not only healthier, but it'll also reduce the saggy skin effect. Weight-training will definitely help. Many people think that weight-training will make them bulk up or look like body builders. This isn't true.
Avatar f tn I had a dermoid cyst removed (10x10 cm) and I lost weight, but I had already been losing weight. I was about 10-15 pounds into my weight loss when I had the cyst removed. I lost 20 pounds total, but that's including the weight loss prior to the surgery. Weight loss is a process. It doesn't happen quickly, so it's important to keep your eyes on that end goal. Best of luck in the weight loss goals and I hope the surgery goes well!
Avatar f tn t kill yourself) and no soda, alcohol or cigarette smoking. The key to losing weight (and keeping it off) is to never diet... diets don't last! Changing your life does! Remember, real changes don't happen over night, things on life worth having takes effort, dedication and time. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Heiligs14 what kind of cardio do you do. While cardio is an essential component to Any weight loss or fitness plan it's not the only component. Try this for 3-4 weeks and see if it helps. I think you'll be very pleased with your results. If you work out 6 days a week split that between intense cardio (heart rate between 70%-80% three days a week and 3 days of moderate intensity weight lifting.
Avatar n tn Are you losing weight at all? The best way to keep weight off is to lose a bit at a time so it stays off, and you don't say if you're getting anywhere or getting nowhere. I would ask, if this exercise is new to you, meaning you weren't doing this before, do you notice anything positive happening in the shape of your body?
Avatar m tn Four weeks ago I started a fitness boot camp that combines high intensity cardio and circuit weight training. Two weeks ago I started weight watchers, which I have been following faithfully. I also do zumba classes here and there when I have the time. I can feel that I am getting stronger and able to do the exercises without getting as winded, however I have not lost any weight nor have I noticed any of my clothes fitting any looser.
