Avatar f tn I have gained about 30 lbs without real cause, and I cannot lose the weight despite good old eating healthfully and exercise. I mean walking 4 miles per day. Recent CBC showed no thyroid issues, sugar is ok, etc. What could it be? Doc thinks Lexapro made me gain, could it also be the reason I can't lose?? Thank you!
Avatar n tn Losing slowly and steadily by changing your lifestyle and diet is the way to go, but nobody can tell you how quickly the weight will come off. It depends on your metabolism, how much exercise you can handle, and how disciplined and knowledgeable you are about eating healthfully.
Avatar m tn Potatoes are recommended to be eaten only in moderation, as again, they are one of the highest foods on the glycemic index and therefore while they might help you gain weight, not healthfully. If you truly want to gain weight, and by that I mean just having more weight, not more muscle or get more toned but just want to gain, then in the short term you want to eat more carbs, not fewer.

Avatar f tn m not familiar with slimquick or slimquick hoodia but as I mentioned I am suspicious of all diet pills. Loosing weight too quickly is also not good. I thinking asking your doctor for a referral to a dietician may be your best bet. I hope these suggestions are helpful.
Avatar f tn It would be wrong to advise on proper diet to someone who is, first, breastfeeding, and second, apparently losing lots of weight for no apparent reason. After you see a doctor, I'd advise seeing a holistic nutritionist. Congratulations on your new addition.
Avatar f tn Not only are you putting a lot of pressure on yourself, losing weight quickly usually leads to putting it back on again because it require radical steps. What might work better is to not set a time limit and make the changes everyone knows lead to weight loss, which is to basically eat less and exercise, or move, more. As to cutting carbs, this isn't really a proven way to lose weight permanently.
Avatar n tn re not the most important tool for choosing a diet -- some high calorie foods are very good for losing weight, some low calorie foods are bad for losing weight. The real issue is how you metabolize and digest your food, and that will differ by the person.

Avatar n tn That's a lot of weight and you have to do it healthfully. You probably need to consult a good holistic nutritionist who can make a diet for you and an exercise program that is safe for you, as that's a lot of weight and we are not experts.

I went from massive fruit cravings, to eating pancakes now and then, to eating portions about half a sandwhich, and now, I can barely eat a piece of toast. I was drinking ensure to make up for what I havn't been eating, but now I can't stomach even that. I feel so hungry and everytime I try to eat, my stomach screams in pain at me and I usually end up throwing it up.

Give yourself a bit of time to lose this weight healthfully and once you do, if your cholesterol is still high, then it will be time to consider something like a statin medication. Not everyone can lower cholesterol through what they eat and exercising. There are children that have high cholesterol due to their genetics. So, do your very best and then go from there.

In general, pregnancy is not the time to lose weight. If a woman does not gain enough weight during pregnancy, her baby will not gain enough weight. On average, a slender woman should gain around 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy. A woman who is underweight should gain more like 30 or 40 pounds.

I lost 11lbs at first and have since gained back 3 in the last 2 weeks. Avatar f tn There really isn't a way to lose weight quickly, if you're going to it in a healthy manner. In order to have a body that's healthy and that you can be proud of, you have to eat healthy and exercise. For starters, give up sodas (including diet) and drink water instead. That alone could save quite a few calories, depending on how many sodas you drink each day. Additionally, eat a yogurt after exercising, instead of a candy bar, etc.
