Avatar m tn Hello all! I've been on medication since I was young for anxiety and depression. I have been on 2mg of Xanax, and then 2mg of Klonopin. I am now on 1.5mg. I find that it's a life saving medication. I have no problem taking pills and supplements. I'm just curious if other's don't mind taking benzo's for a long period of time, or perhaps (in my case) the rest of my life. Anyone else in my situation, or can relate? I just have to make sure never to go withdrawal.
Avatar m tn With regards to Lexapro,as I understand it, stopping an SSRI you've taken for so long coldturkey can bring about some nasty changes in brain chemistry.Your brain has gotten accustomed to the 10mg and all of a sudden it doesn't have it, hence increased anxiety and sadness.Slappy i know you know that lexapro has a shorter half-life then most ssris, maybe you can ask your doctor to switch you to Prozac which has the longest half-life, then you can wean off easier.
Avatar f tn as he called it. He prescribed me 10mg of lexapro, and told me to take it for a few months. This scares me to death, because I do not want to start something that I will have a hard time getting off of. I also suffer from severe constipation, and I do not want anything to effect that including weight gain. My physician and GI doctor said it was safe to take. I do not want to take these, but I will admit that I have not felt like myslef in months, and I would love to feel normal again.
Avatar f tn m going to a stomach d.r tomorrow. The pauses get worse and then get better. I was taking lexapro. Tht worked for a little while. I wish it would just go away. And go back to a anomaly life..
Avatar m tn Lexapro, the brand name for escitalopram, is a widely prescribed medication known for its effectiveness in managing mood disorders. Avatar f tn I have had the absolute worst anxiety since I was 2 years old. I started taking Lexapro...but that didnt do anything for me. Then I took Pristiq....and my anxiety went from 100% 24/7 to almost 0...in a matter of 2 weeks. I can honestly say that it has saved my life. I take 50mg which I believe is one of the lowest doses and it worked absolute wonders on me. Everyone is different, but i definitely would encourage you to try it.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for almost 4 months. I have had anxiety and now depression for over 2 years. What a crazy disorder to have. It's so disabling. I still deal with anxiety and depression daily and I am on 15 mg of lexapro. It is better but I still am dealing with it. Can anyone tell me what antidepressant works best? Is wellbutrin better for anxiety?
229538 tn?1300377767 I am not having panic but I am wondering if the Lexapro it backfiring on me . Man people I just want my life back . Doing everything to get my life back . I guess those who dance have to pay the fiddler , huh !
Avatar n tn I tried the antidepressant / antianxiety medication called Lexapro. I was only on it for 3 full weeks, though. It can take 4 - 6 weeks to get full benefits on Lexapro; although some people can start to begin feeling benefits after a week. It seemed like it was beginning to help take the edge off; but, chose to discontinue it, due to upleasant long-term side affects that can occur, and I did not want to have to deal with that later on. Have a great day.
Avatar f tn I have been in therapy for 2 years and on Lexapro for about 15 months. My doctor weened me off of Lexapro over a course of 4 months and said that I was doing great and he didn't see the need for me to have therapy any longer. I really felt as though I do have the tools to handle the anxiety on my own without the help from Lexapro or so I thought.
Avatar m tn Hi there. If your doctor prescribed Lexapro for anxiety, please don't allow your anxiety to interfere with your treatment. :>) Many people take Lexapro and feel better. Some do decide to go off and tapering significantly helps with any withdrawal. There are lots of horror stories but the ones in which discontinuing a medication was not a problem match the number. So, don't let fear and anxiety stop you from feeling better. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
Avatar f tn I have been taking lexapro 5mg for a few days now. My anxiety has been so bad today and yesterday I have felt like I'm dying. Almost! On top of all this, my son and his wife have separated and he and my three small grandchildren have moved back in with us. Seems like all I do is cry. When I went to a new Gyn a couple of weeks ago, she didn't even do any bloodwork to check my hormones-- all she told me was she didn't think my anxiety was related to menopause!
Avatar n tn I went off of the Lexapro when I became pregnant, which at the time everything seemed fine, and then after he was born was put back on Lexapro for Post Partum Depression. I have never been on anything for anxiety until a couple of months ago when the doctor put me on Xanax to take only when needed to help to combat my mind seeming to go 90 miles a hour sometimes. Since then, my physical symptoms, none of which I knew could be attributed to anxiety, have only gotten worse.
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro (for 6 mths) in the morning. I dun feel groggy and jittery. How long have you been taking Lexapro?? If you are just starting taking it...give your body some time to accept the medcine. But if this concern you yes pls. speak to your Dr..
358304 tn?1409709492 I took lexapro last year for anxiety... now I'm having anxiety/depression pretty bad... going to go see the Dr. tomorrow. Hoping he will put me on something... don't want to feel like this anymore... Think there is hope in medicine these days? My buddy Jeff told me, there is no reason why anyone should feel the way I feel this day in age.. with all the medicines they have out there.. Of course, I kind of want to refuse medicine... but I have to be logic.

Avatar n tn I went to a nuerologist who put me on topamax, I take 100mg twice a day, for about 1 month now. I also suffer from depression for about 20 yrs. I have been taking lexapro for about a year. The Dr. feels the lexapro isnt helping my headaches. The topamax took some of the pressure of but I still suffer, he added vivactyl which i thought was a migraine medication until I looked it up and found out it was a antidepressant.
Avatar f tn Working great but sometimes I have to reassure myself by reading articles that this is normal and it will pass with time. My doctor said its normal for people to question everything in life and sometimes things they question gets stuck and we OCD about it. Never once did I ever have gay thoughts or dreams about them or anything. Once the meds kick in I hope all thoughts bounce off me and this leaves my thought pattern.
Avatar n tn Withdrawal is most common with antidepressants that have a short half-life. A half-life is the amount of time it takes for half the drug to clear from your body. Lexapro, tricyclics, MAOIs and most SSRIs all have the potential to cause withdrawal symptoms. As recommended, your best course of action is to develop an appropriate tapering schedule with your healthcare provider.
Avatar f tn I've been on Lexapro for a month now for anxiety over health issues. It's the first time I've taken any sort of anti depressants. I won't lie, the first week or so *****. I had a few bad headaches, lack of energy, nausea, increased anxiety, and lightheadedness. Now that I'm a month in I can say my anxiety is definitely decreased. I have good days, really good days, and maybe an okay day, then a bad day. Has it helped my anxiety? Totally. Has it completely changed my life?
1772374 tn?1326246237 m currently taking Gabapentin, Xanax when needed, Busiprone, and Lexapro. Lexapro is an SSRI for depressant and is known for helping anxiety. Gabapentin is a tranquilizer/mood-stabalizer. Busiprone is an anti-anxiety drug as well but non-benzo. It works on Serotonin, and a little bit on Dopamine. Right now after taking the gabapentin and 2mg xanax im feeling a lil at ease. Plus what helps me a tad is to take a walk and observe nature in a sort of meditative way. Meditation is good too.
Avatar f tn Does lexapro half a short half life as they call it? I might keep taking it at night for awhile and just watch it!! So if you split the doses how does that work?
