My jaw has popped for several years now which has not bothered me to much other than the annoyance of it, However several months ago I started having pain in my teeth and jaw. I saw two dentist who took X-rays and explained it could be from grinding my teeth at night. They assured me that everything else looked fine. Since then, the pain has gotten worse and comes more often. I have been taking pain relievers everyday now, and sometimes more than once a day. The pain now also goes into my ear.
I have pain in my teeth, mostly upper right when I chew food or put my teeth together. It feels like I am chewing on aluminum fool. I also have pain in my jaw that feels burning. I have had an MVD that failed because my doctor said I have trigeminal neuralgia. Which now I am not so sure I have. Can you recommend anything that I should do now?
You know I may also be TMJ, that's what I have,the worst case. I get pain in my jaw, headaches, sometimes throat pain, and ear pain, and back pain, you'll know if you have it by pressure on your side jaw(both sides) Just my oppinion.
For a month my 8 year daughter has complained of a sharp pain in her right cheek/ jaw inside her mouth where the jaw and teeth meet...it comes out of no where last about 10 minutes and goes away only to come back one week later... So it is a weekly pain...comes around every five to seven day...no triggers no pain when manipulated or rubbed...
ve had pain in top of my jaw by my ear lobe, the jaw is sometimes stiff and cracks , there is pain also in the gums around the back teeth on the same side of the jaw , the teeth feel tender the pain travels down to the troat and ear. Have no lumps or bumps around these areas. Booked to see my denist.
I had that problem for a long time because of grinding and clenching my teeth in my sleep so my dentist made me a mouth guard to wear at night. It helped a lot and I wore it until my wisdom teeth shifted my other teeth and it did not fit anymore. If you have medical coverage I would suggest trying it, if not, try just buying a normal sports guard, it would essentially do the same thing.
Yes, but I had a cavity and it was fine for me to have a local anesthetic and a filling. But I do know there is a condition you can get in pregnancy where your jaw gives you tooth pain, especially if you've had a clicky jaw before, and common around 1st trimester when the relaxin hormones kick in. You can probably google it.
If there is a lack of jaw bone to support the denture, your denture may need to be adjusted to get them to fit better and remove any spots that may be causing pain. I would recommend that you go back to your dentist to have the area evaluated again.
Your dentist may also suggest using fixodent or some other type of denture adhesive to try to help hold the denture in place.
No jaw pain but now you mention it I've got slightly sensitive teeth. Hope your jaw ache passes quickly.
So I found a new oral surgeon in boston and he wanted to starts from the beginning and he did another arthrocentesis on 12/30/2011 I came out of surgery just fine with a little discomfert so they put some pain medication in the iv. I fell asleep and woke up about a half hour later and my jaw was once again dislocted. By this time the oral surgeon was in his next surgery and he came right out of that surgery. They did a emergency xray and low and behold it had dislocated.
It sounds like difficult extractions so I think you will have discomfort for 7 to 10 days, hopefully less.
in the meantime while you wait for your appointment, take a rag and soak it in hot water and wrap it around your jaw all the way up towards your ears. don't force your mouth open, but sort of massage the area with the hot rag until you feel it loosen up a bit. keep doing this for at least 10 or so minutes at a time. it sounds like your tmj and could have something to do with getting the teeth extracted or you could be grinding your teeth.
You may have TMJ or just some jaw sensitivity from the dental work you have had done and from having your mouth opened so wide for a long period of time while the dentist worked on your teeth. I had this same problem and had jaw joint pain for 10 months after having 1 tooth crowned! I am searching for answers myself now, but I won't be having in more injections unless I'm dead!
Generally, tongue pain may occur in diabetic neuropathy, mouth ulcers, iron deficiency anemia, pernicious anemia, B-vitamin deficiencies (glossitis), leukoplakia (or oral cancer) and exposure to irritants such as tobacco/alcohol/hot foods/spices. Usual symptoms could be pain, swelling, and change in appearance of the tongue. Sometimes tongue movement problems also can cause pain and most often caused by nerve damage.
There are so many TMJ symptoms, I can not begin to list them, but, it sure can cause jaw pain, in fact, it can sometimes even cause upper chest pain. I would see an orthodontist, he will run some tests on the jaw area and be able to tell you more of what is going on.
Oh, do your clench your teeth or when sleeping, been told you grind your teeth? This is also TMJ related and will cause the jaw to hurt.
hi i get jaw pain alot at night. i have a nite guard from the dentist but it doesnt always help. i get some bad headaches which is muscle pain as i get bothersome shoulders. and advil and tylenol dont help at all. the smornig i woke up and my left ear feels full. it was really itchy inside but only the outside of the ear hurts not the inside at all. i can feel that my jaw joint has like a knot in it. its the headaches i cant stand.
i have this terrible pain in my left side of face... right now its just all my left teeth adn one of my bottom teeth is really sore that when i bite down i just want to rip my face off... when i lay down it feels like my face is coming off .... its terrible. my doctor thinks it might have to do with ,my TMJ and my dentist is not even looking at it... the whole side of my face swelled up and i have this hard ball like thing in my bottom jaw...
I had four cavities filled two weeks ago two molars on top and two molars on the bottom. Two days after they were filled I had several pain in my right jaw and gum. I went back and had the bite fixed. But by the weekend, I was in pain again. The dentist called in Tylenol with Codine. By Tuesday I went back to the dentist and they took an xray. They claimed my teeth look fine but since I was in pain in the one back molar they removed that filling and redrilled and filled it.
