Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy uterus physiology

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn Not a single one has questioned my hormone health since that hysterectomy. Please help me! My marriage is in jeopardy. I changed gradually , And I didn't even realize it. I've changed so much since my total hysterectomy. I kept my ovaries. Over the course of three years, I have withdrawn from my family and husband. I have zero desire to be intimate. I gained 100lbs. I have extreme low self esteem now. I just want to be alone. I didn't realize what was happening with me.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled to have it removed laproscopically on the 17th. If is is cancerous they will do a full hysterectomy, node removal, omentectomy etc. The idea of waking up to the news of not only cancer, but losing my womanhood and all chances of having children terrifies me. I know that most cysts are not cancerous, but I have a very strong family history of gyn cancers, so that knowledge doesn't soothe me.
897990 tn?1248268956 Why on earth does she seem to think she needs a hysterectomy? I had a prolapsed uterus and gave birth to three healthy boys all a prolapse means is the uterus leans in the backwards position, techincally suposed to make it harder to concieve but not so with many many I know...why does she need a C section..all my babies wher vaginal births, just trying to understand...the C section may be needed for a host of reasons..
Avatar n tn I have a fibroid about the size of a grapefruit on my uterus and at least 2 smaller ones. My doctor was going to try the procedure wherein they go in and cut off the blood supply to the fibroid when she thought it was just one. Now that she has learned through an ultrasound that there are multiple fibroids, she said that procedure is not an option as it would basically cut off the blood supply to the uterus if they did that for each fibroid.
Avatar m tn Why would a doctor during a hysterectomy take out the uterus through the rectum?
Avatar m tn I have Adenomyosis, its when the lining of the uterus grows into the muscle of the uterus, the doctor decribes it as like a uturus inside a uterus, or a hot piece of coal irritaing my uterus! I bleed heavily and am in constant pain! I have to have abdominal surgery as my uterus is to enlarged to take it away by any other means.
Avatar n tn No you cannot get pregnant after a hysterectomy. You have to have a uterus to carry a baby and a hysterectomy removes the uterus. There are other pricedures that remove just the ovaries that you can get pregnant after but not a hysterectomy.
Avatar m tn I was under the impression that if you had a hysterectomy that you did not have your uterus. When I had my hysterectomy done, the dr took the works. I'm talking about everything, the fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, uterus. Not that I miss any of them. I don't have periods, which means no pms! WooHoo!
Avatar m tn Normally a partial hysterectomy is removing the uterus but leaving the ovaries for hormonal purposes. There is no way someone without a uterus could get pregnant. But have her check with her doctor.
Avatar n tn Clysta if they dont take the uterus it is not a hysterectomy. A hysterectomty is removing the uterus. An oopherectomy is removing the ovaries and fallopian tubes. So no she can't get pregnant after a hysterectomy.
8933082 tn?1402473412 I also have a tumor on the 2nd side of my uterus and will probably have to have a hysterectomy in the next few years. Not many people in my family made it past 30 without having to have one and I'm already 27. Just not sure how to feel about things. I want to be excited but I'm scared to get my hopes up, just to lose this baby.
Avatar f tn I have had a tubal and a partial hysterectomy done (both 9 years ago). I was also told at one time I may have a double uterus. Now, my question is, if I DO have a double uterus, could I concieve and carry to term? I ask, because I am having signs of being pregnant and while the brain in me is certain I cannot possibly be pregnant, lol, the heart of me wants the chance again. Sensitivity, swelling of the breast, nausea, and I swear it feels like I am having Braxton Hicks( spelling?) contracts.
Avatar n tn What was exactly a full hysterectomy for you? Some doctors call a hysterectomy just removal of the uterus. For my full debulking hysterectomy I had my uterus, cervix, both ovaries, both fallopian tubes and full omentum apron and my appendix... Did you have your ovaries removed? If you did you could have remnant ovarie tissue that has cysts.. you need to ask more questions... I hope you find the answers...
Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Avatar n tn If you had a full hysterectomy, they take out your uterus so you wouldn't be able to carry a baby yourself.
Avatar f tn ve recently been diagnosed with complex hyperplasia - moderately abnormal cells in the uterus. Because of this I will be having surgery soon to remove both my uterus and cervix. I don't plan on having kids, tried, so that's not an issue plus the women in my family have practically all needed hysterectomys.
Avatar n tn I am 46 years old and had a hystermony almost 22 years ago. I had a ultersound on my uterus, and the only thing that came back was that my lining to the uterus was thickening. She tried to do a biospy but it came back unconclusive. And she made me an appointment with an gyncologist to see if i need a dnc. What do u think it could be? If it was cancerous wouldn't it show up in the biopsy? I am worried?
Avatar n tn ve now been diagnosed with thick lining of my uterus, bleeding for over a month, almost 2, with light bleeding, not heavy, no clots. Bloated tummy, abdominal discomfort (not like heavy cramps). I am awaiting hear back on a referral to a Gynecologist, from what I was told by the referral coordinator could take 3-6 months to get into. I am 41 yrs of age. Any ideas as to what this recent diagnosis could mean? What can you tell me about testing my hormone levels?
Avatar n tn i have a cyst on both ovaries and one is about 2cm and has contrast and lesions. also my uterus is trying to grow through the uterus wall. My lower back hurts all the time and my side hurts and now my leg hurts really bad. The Doctor said he doesnt think it is cancer but i am scared because i have all the symptoms. I also had breast cancer two years ago. just want to know if anyone has these symptoms and if it turned out to be nothing or cancer.
1490116 tn?1304817137 Am a 52 yr old woman no period never had hysterectomy, tubal, however uterus really low. Am cramping a little. Is there a possibility of pregnancy?
Avatar f tn I am still in pain, during intercourse, as well as everyday cramping, and lower back pain. I talked to doctor and she suggested an abdominal hysterectomy. Should I do this? Will it really help?? I have tried lupron, and had two laprascopies with removal of adhesions as well as countless chocolate cysts. Was told by fertility specialist after last lap that tubes are completly blocked as well as being tangled with my bowels.
804498 tn?1238100998 No you cannot get pregnant if you had a full hysterectomy. full hysterectomy means that your uterus has been completely removed including your ovaries etc. You cannot bear any more children yourself, you need a uterus to support a pregnancy and you don't have one. If you want to have a child with this man you can adopt or he can learn to love and embrace your children as part of his family.
