Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Avatar f tn My doctor tried to do a hysteroscopy and D&C on me (in hospital, general anesthesia) and said cervix is completely scarred shut. 3 weeks until my follow up. We still don't know what is the "area of concern" in my uterus. She mentioned we'll talk hysterectomy next. I'm 46. Do I have options? Trans vag US showed this area, unsuccessful Saline Ultrasound - the wall is up apparently. I do not want to play roulette. If doc thinks it is cancer, I want it out.
804498 tn?1238100998 No you cannot get pregnant if you had a full hysterectomy. full hysterectomy means that your uterus has been completely removed including your ovaries etc. You cannot bear any more children yourself, you need a uterus to support a pregnancy and you don't have one. If you want to have a child with this man you can adopt or he can learn to love and embrace your children as part of his family.
7930203 tn?1395494387 I am 50 yrs old and have been bleeding for 8 weeks and have been to the ER twice in a week. It revealed a big cyst and an enlarged uterus. Second time I went it showed the ctst burst and my endometrium had shrunk. I went last week to my gynecologist and had a biopsy done. I will have that result in 4 days. I don't expect anything from it. Seems everyone I talk to (friends) their advice is "you don't need your uterus anymore". I am sorry but its a part of me.
Avatar f tn He told me that I will have a number of options (birth control, mirena, ablation, or hysterectomy) he told me that I may want to seriously consider a hysterectomy because over time the fibroid will grow and cause discomfort and I already have serious side effects from the heavy bleeding. He took a sample of the uterine lining, told me not to panic and wait for the results to see if it showed polyps.
Avatar f tn The uterus has life long functions; it isn't just for having babies. Its removal (hysterectomy) has some long-term and progressive problems including, but not limited to, displacement of the bladder and bowel which can cause life long issues with voiding including incontinence. And it has other anatomical functions.
1740983 tn?1312873366 Ok my doctor is saying that I will need to have a hysterectomy because I have a fyfriod inside my uterus and one on the lining of my uterus. I seem to be having some leakage coming down and spotting. This seems to happen when I have sex and it is really bothering me. I have to wear a pad pretty much everyday. I want to know is this hysterectomy really what I need to have. And the leaking and spotting is this from the fyriods?
Avatar f tn They take everything out (uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes) for a complete hysterectomy making it impossible for you to have children. Your doctor can give you medication for nausea (metoclopramide works wonders) and may do a D&C. Best of luck!
3848997 tn?1348330156 I am 30 years old and had, I believe, a partital hysterectomy 2 years ago. I still have my ovaries. Are there any options for me to still have children?? I do already have 2, but I am in a new relationship and we would like to be able to have our own children. Is there any options out there for us?????
6339603 tn?1380470060 There are some medications that can suppress the growth and bleeding (the medication has side effects though) there is MRI guided ultrasonic fibroid ablation, there is uterine artery embolization, there are also surgeries such as myomectomy (removal of fibroid) or hysterectomy (removal of uterus). See a specialist for more information on all of the different options. Good luck!
Avatar f tn If you need a hysterectomy, there are various kinds. I would discuss all the options with either doctor or even a third doctor. I'm sure sorry you are going through this.
2004742 tn?1327656482 Unfortunately I dont think so : ( I had a partial hysterectomy 10 years ago at the age of 25 due to cervial cancer. My husband and I are on round 2 of IVF with a surrogate mother. She is wonderful, I coundnt have chose a better person (found her on ****.com) We are able to use my eggs but with you not having your ovaries unfortunately you will have to search out an egg donor. You may be able to find someone that will do both surrogacy and egg donation : ) Best of luck to you!!!
Avatar n tn Ask your Dr what the condition is that is causing the uterus to prolapse,,,it could be andeomyosis...its like uterus becomes sponge like boggy...mine did that plus many other issues.. Depending on his anwser..and do get a second opinion,,,youd be surpised how different the second Drs advise may be for better (lets hope) or for worse. the retro as you know is to repair a hole or tear from vagina to rectum,,,it really can be done w/o a hysterectomy..
Avatar n tn ve now been diagnosed with thick lining of my uterus, bleeding for over a month, almost 2, with light bleeding, not heavy, no clots. Bloated tummy, abdominal discomfort (not like heavy cramps). I am awaiting hear back on a referral to a Gynecologist, from what I was told by the referral coordinator could take 3-6 months to get into. I am 41 yrs of age. Any ideas as to what this recent diagnosis could mean? What can you tell me about testing my hormone levels?
Avatar n tn conditions, treatment options and the lifelong damaging effects of hysterectomy. If they were, many women would refuse a hysterectomy as well as removal of one or both ovaries (castration). The non-profit HERS Foundation has been educating women about the lifelong functions of the female organs since the 1980's but is up against a very lucrative industry. Hysterectomy is emphasized in Graduate Medical Education. Each resident used to be required to do at LEAST 70 hysterectomies.
Avatar f tn Endometriosis can be treated by laparoscopic surgery, but it is to remove the endometriosis, not the uterus. Are you sure your doctor wanted you to have a hysterectomy? Here is a link that describes endometriosis. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn This is what is going on endometrial lining has been think for years last ultrasound showed 17mm so not having a natural period since 24 yrs i am now 36 i was given pill but they stopped coming so the ultrasound says that i am postmenopausal and 17mm is quite abnormal for my age as it just gets thicker so for years i was seeing a gyno who did regular ultrasounds and bloods but never a pap because i wasnt sexual active and nor am i now but always had deep pelvic pain but nothing showed up on
Avatar n tn t want a hysterectomy and I find it hard to believe that there are NO other options for me. My quality of life has dramatically changed. I hope you don't have this, and I wish you well.
Avatar f tn With a partial hysterectomy your uterus is removed. Without a uterus, there is no place for your body to safely carry a pregnancy to term. I'm sorry.
Avatar f tn He told me that I will have a number of options (birth control, mirena, ablation, or hysterectomy) he told me that I may want to seriously consider a hysterectomy because over time the fibroid will grow and cause discomfort and I already have serious side effects from the heavy bleeding. Avatar f tn t see your post. Since the uterus helps to keep the bladder and bowel anchored, hysterectomy can lead to prolapse of bladder and bowel. Does she really have a prolapse or maybe some other cause for frequent urination? As women age, frequent urination seems to be fairly common even without prolapse. If her bladder is truly prolapsed, a pessary can be used to suspend it (along with the uterus). There are some that don't have to be changed very often.
Avatar f tn that has been found outside of my uterus, attached to my left ovary. It is pushing my uterus out of place and pressing on my bladder, making my life quite miserable. He has said it is neither a cyst or a fibroid but it is also not cancerous which is a relief. He has given me 2 options. 1 is to detatch the lump via by belly button and then make a bikini line incision to remove the lump. The 2nd is to perform a hysterectomy via an incision to my bikini line and leave my right ovary intact.
Avatar f tn nt anything show up with the hysterectomy or the vaginal ultrasound? What are my options now? This is really affecting every apect of my life especially with my husband and kids what are my options? Do i have any options at all?
