Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy endometriosis uterus

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn I agree with everyone! I had a partial hysterectomy in 1996 when I was 26 years old. I was wondering, do you still have symptoms like the cramping or pevlic pain? I still have my ovaries and I have always experienced the same "pain" when I had my uterus and endometriosis-I'm starting to think the pain is now all in my head, even after 11 years!
Avatar f tn (The year prior to the hysterectomy I had an emergency lap with torquing hemorrhagic cyst and also had a large fibroid pressing on my bladder from my uterus and they discovered severe endometriosis, which was also on my bladder, besides on my uterus, ligaments, etc). My fsh is soaring, but no doctor seems concerned it is so far outside the normal range. I have osteopenia discovered the year following the surgery.
Avatar f tn I have trouble understanding why ovarian cysts would call for removing the uterus. It (the uterus) does not cause the ovaries to do anything. Both the uterus and the ovaries respond to signals from the brain, and I think the uterus also responds to signals from the ovaries, but it's not the other way around. Taking the uterus away will not affect the signals from the brain that make cysts in the ovaries.
Avatar f tn Hysterectomy means the surgical removal of the uterus. The uterus or womb is where babies grow prior to birth.
Avatar n tn A hysterectomy, removal of the uterus, will have no bearing on your risk for breast cancer. The ovaries are what produces hormones and at 28, they would likely be left intact. You should have this discussion with your gynecologist who can discuss all options as they relate to your situation.
Avatar f tn Endometriosis is when some endometrial cells escape from the uterus and attach to other places inside your abdominal cavity, and they wax and wane with your periods, and hurt.
Avatar f tn Endometriosis can be treated by laparoscopic surgery, but it is to remove the endometriosis, not the uterus. Are you sure your doctor wanted you to have a hysterectomy? Here is a link that describes endometriosis. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar n tn I do not have an uterus,But I am having cervic cramps. It feels like I am going to have a period ,but that is not possible.I still have my ovaries,I had the surgery and had my uterus removed a year ago.but I kept my ovaries.I have also been dealing with indometriosis for years.I hate having sex it is so painful, what can I do?
Avatar f tn Endometriosis is a medical condition where the endometrium (the lining of your uterus... aka the stuff that comes out when you have your period), grows in other places outside of the uterus (like on your ovaries etc.). This can be incredibly painful. Hysterectomy is the removal of all or part of the reproductive organs (uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix).
Avatar f tn I have always had female problems. In 2016 my OB decoded it was time for a complete hysterectomy. I don't have my ovaries, tubes, uterus, or cervix. In the past year I've begun having what feels like menstrual cramps. I don't understand what's going on. What could be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Avatar f tn I must say however, that given your history of pain and the fact that your uterus is retroflexed (tipped very far backwards toward the rectum) I would tend to suspect endometriosis. Your uterus is pretty large, too. Since they don't see any fibroid tumors I would suspect that you also have adenomyosis ( a form of endometriosis ). My bet is that hysterectomy will be discussed with you as an option for management of your pain! Hope this is helpful!
Avatar f tn The forum hystersisters is excellent as it has a whole section on endometriosis and how women have dealt with it through hysterectomy or other means. Take a look and I do understand how you're feeling. It's a very hard thing to come to terms with as a woman. Look after yourself and don't be afraid to cry when you need to Prayers sent your way.
Avatar f tn I’ve been worried it could be something more serious but, the thought also occurred to me today that it might be the endometriosis since a hysterectomy never really cures it. I haven’t had any pain or issues since the hysterectomy 3 years ago until now. My question is, is there anyone else out there who also had a hysterectomy but experiences endo pain??? If so, was it similar to what I’m describing?? Thanks in advance for your help!!
Avatar f tn i had undergone complete hysterectomy in 2004, My uterus and both ovaries were removed due to endometriosis. i am om tab premarine 6.25 since then. However, now i am having complete body pain and heavy head.
Avatar m tn With radical surgery the uterus (hysterectomy) and ovaries (oophorectomy) are removed. After hysterectomy alone (i.e. without removal of the ovaries), there is a significant chance that endometriosis will recur; 10-15% of women had recurrence after 1-3 years and 40-50% after 5 years. The more severe the endometriosis the more likely it is to recur. The chance of recurrence is much smaller if the ovaries are also removed at the time of hysterectomy, but this makes a woman menopausal.
Avatar f tn About 18 years ago I had a hysterectomy because of Endometriosis. They removed uterus, cervix, left ovary and both fallopian tubes. All they left me was my right ovary. For a few years now I been having problems with a mass on my right ovary. It measures 5 x 6 cm. I have alot of pain, the even makes my right pelvis bone hurt, the pain goes into my groin and down the front of my leg. My groin also has a large lump in it.
888637 tn?1241034907 I am desperately looking for a doctor in Syracuse, NY who can help immediately so I don't undergo an unwanted hysterectomy. I've had pain and heavy bleeding with no known cause since I was 20. I'm now 34. At age 29 two different doctors said it was endometriosis. I was dutiful, did the Lupron for six months, started on continued birth control pills to avoid having a period. It felt better without a period and heavy bleeding. But unfortunately, the pains came back.
Avatar f tn A hysterectomy isn't a cure but some women find that it helps. But it should absolutely be the last option. If birth control is working stick with that. Birth control doesn't help me but I had a lap to remove the endometriosis and it helped some. There are pills and shots that can put you into menopause and if they completely fix you symptoms then maybe a hysterectomy is a good idea for you. But if they don't help like they don't help me then a hysterectomy is pointless.
Avatar f tn Hi! I wish I could help, but I know very little about endometriosis. There is an endometriosis forum on this website that seems more active than this page. If you don't get a response here, maybe try there? Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with endometriosis and it is in the walls of my uterus. We are out of options for treatment and the pain still persists. I'm perfectly fine with this option and my doctor knows that. I just want to know what to expect. It is scary being so young going through this but at the same time, I have shed too many tears over this situation. I am going to discuss with my doctor about leaving an ovary, not only to prevent menopause but I would like children.
Avatar f tn Hmmm - So they did a "complete" hysterectomy (uterus, ovaries, tubes) because you had an ovarian cyst? Yet they could not remove the cyst? Maybe I am misunderstanding.
Avatar n tn I am to the point where I would rather deal with the aftermath of a Hysterectomy than spend one more day in hell. With the way my uterus is fixed I have been told that having children again is in a low percentile.
2042830 tn?1333865567 s about getting ablation of my uterus, because they ended up having more pain and bleed outside of the uterus..They end up getting a full hysterectomy... I really cant afford to go the long route and end up with having hysterectomy... What do you think if it comes back good results and I hope they do... should I get the Ablation of my uterus???
Avatar f tn after having an MRI scan showed it was not endometriosis still causing pain as it was removed but there wasnt vey much,MRI showed ADENOMYOSIS endometri which grown outside the uterus and into the muscle wall so if you are still in pain after 6 weeks ask for an MRI to make sure nothing is left! i still have my uterus so only option is hysterectomy!but definately had 100% success first time and didnt return til 5 years later!
