Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy of uterus

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn into a hysterectomy 8 years ago at age 49. I am now suffering many of the medically documented health and quality of life negative effects. And they just keep piling up. Our uterus, ovaries, and tubes have life-long, non-reproductive functions. Make sure you understand Female Anatomy and the functions of the female organs before you consent to gynecologic surgery. It is important that a doctor do proper testing to give you a diagnosis and then to explain all your treatment options.
Avatar m tn so my friend's mother has a benign tumor in the uterus and she's confused between choosing to completely remove the uterus or just the tumor and i don't know what is the type of the tumor or how much it has invaded ..can you help?
897990 tn?1248268956 Why on earth does she seem to think she needs a hysterectomy? I had a prolapsed uterus and gave birth to three healthy boys all a prolapse means is the uterus leans in the backwards position, techincally suposed to make it harder to concieve but not so with many many I know...why does she need a C section..all my babies wher vaginal births, just trying to understand...the C section may be needed for a host of reasons..
Avatar f tn Uterine myomas also called “fibroids” are tumors that grow from the wall of the uterus. The uterie wall is made of fatty tissue. fibroids start off very small, Most always begnine only small chance of malignancy a hemmorrhagic follicle is the normal process of ovulation, the part where egg is released still atop the ovary before entering fallopian tube...it could also be containing extra blood due to injury or trauma.
Avatar m tn I was referring to the pathology reports from the colposcopy (removal of cervical tissue) prior to your hysterectomy and the one from the removal of your uterus and cervix (hysterectomy).
Avatar f tn LAter after surgery i came to know it was a total hysterectomy with uterus, ovary and fallopian tube removed. I was on HRT for 6 months and then she stopped my estrogens. Ater that there was gradual weight loss and i have lost 10 kgs till now in 8 months. i feel very low and weak. my appetite has also weakened. i look so bad, i want to regain my lost weight if its possible and is it safe for me to take estrogen again.
Avatar n tn No, it's not necessary. Why remove body parts that are perfectly functional? Find another gynocologist. I had to see three gynocologists before i was happy. A hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) has long term effects on a woman's health, longevity, and sexuality. Women who have undergone a hysterectomy have a greater risk of a heart attack (triple the risk according to some studies), osteoporosis, and depression.
Avatar f tn s no cure for Adenomyosis. A hysterectomy is the only way to get rid of it. Adeno can be in the uterus and cervix.
2042830 tn?1333865567 s about getting ablation of my uterus, because they ended up having more pain and bleed outside of the uterus..They end up getting a full hysterectomy... I really cant afford to go the long route and end up with having hysterectomy... What do you think if it comes back good results and I hope they do... should I get the Ablation of my uterus???
Avatar m tn Why would a doctor during a hysterectomy take out the uterus through the rectum?
Avatar n tn I have a fibroid about the size of a grapefruit on my uterus and at least 2 smaller ones. My doctor was going to try the procedure wherein they go in and cut off the blood supply to the fibroid when she thought it was just one. Now that she has learned through an ultrasound that there are multiple fibroids, she said that procedure is not an option as it would basically cut off the blood supply to the uterus if they did that for each fibroid.
Avatar m tn I have Adenomyosis, its when the lining of the uterus grows into the muscle of the uterus, the doctor decribes it as like a uturus inside a uterus, or a hot piece of coal irritaing my uterus! I bleed heavily and am in constant pain! I have to have abdominal surgery as my uterus is to enlarged to take it away by any other means.
Avatar n tn The doctor said that the uterus lining keeps on thickening and she was asdvised that in the long run, she might eventually removal of the uterus or total hesterectomy . Her question is - will this procedure affect only the uterus or will the other adjoining parts be removed also? Whats going to happen after the procedure- will she still have the same normal sexual reactions and furges as that of normal woman ?
Avatar f tn But the risks and side effects of hysterectomy involve a much longer list than prolapse. I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and speak from experience as well as the knowledge I have gained since undergoing this damaging surgery. The bladder and bowel descend without the uterus to separate them and hold them in place. Even absent prolapse, this often alters their functions. I experience intense pain when both my bladder and bowel are full. And they sometimes do not empty completely.
7930203 tn?1395494387 I am 50 yrs old and have been bleeding for 8 weeks and have been to the ER twice in a week. It revealed a big cyst and an enlarged uterus. Second time I went it showed the ctst burst and my endometrium had shrunk. I went last week to my gynecologist and had a biopsy done. I will have that result in 4 days. I don't expect anything from it. Seems everyone I talk to (friends) their advice is "you don't need your uterus anymore". I am sorry but its a part of me.
Avatar m tn a hysterectomy by defenition is the surgical removal of the uterus. a woman must have a uterus to be pregnant therfore it must of been some other female surgery you had , such as the one tube and ovary thats called a salpongoooperectomy...its really not a hysterectomy..they do use the term complete hyster when uterus tubes ovarys and cervix are all removed so the medical terms get a bit confusing anyways congradulations and good luck !
Avatar m tn Normally a partial hysterectomy is removing the uterus but leaving the ovaries for hormonal purposes. There is no way someone without a uterus could get pregnant. But have her check with her doctor.
Avatar n tn No you cannot get pregnant after a hysterectomy. You have to have a uterus to carry a baby and a hysterectomy removes the uterus. There are other pricedures that remove just the ovaries that you can get pregnant after but not a hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn I have had a tubal and a partial hysterectomy done (both 9 years ago). I was also told at one time I may have a double uterus. Now, my question is, if I DO have a double uterus, could I concieve and carry to term? I ask, because I am having signs of being pregnant and while the brain in me is certain I cannot possibly be pregnant, lol, the heart of me wants the chance again. Sensitivity, swelling of the breast, nausea, and I swear it feels like I am having Braxton Hicks( spelling?) contracts.
8933082 tn?1402473412 I also have a tumor on the 2nd side of my uterus and will probably have to have a hysterectomy in the next few years. Not many people in my family made it past 30 without having to have one and I'm already 27. Just not sure how to feel about things. I want to be excited but I'm scared to get my hopes up, just to lose this baby.
Avatar n tn What was exactly a full hysterectomy for you? Some doctors call a hysterectomy just removal of the uterus. For my full debulking hysterectomy I had my uterus, cervix, both ovaries, both fallopian tubes and full omentum apron and my appendix... Did you have your ovaries removed? If you did you could have remnant ovarie tissue that has cysts.. you need to ask more questions... I hope you find the answers...
Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Avatar n tn Had an ultrasound, and a cat scan that showed some fibroids but a condition that is similar to endometriosis (the name escapes me) but it is inside the wall of the uterus and not outside in the abdomen cavity. The painful cramps are from the bleeding pushing through the muscle of the wall into the uterus where it then is expelled. So, thats where I come back to this. If the plan is to have a hysterectomy anyway, why do the LEEP first?
Avatar n tn If you had a full hysterectomy, they take out your uterus so you wouldn't be able to carry a baby yourself.
