Common Questions and Answers about Hiv rash characteristics

hiv

Avatar n tn As far as your symptoms are concerned, while they have some of the characteristics of the rash of recently acquired HIV, there are some characteristics which would be quite atypical for HIV. For instance, the rash of HIV is typically present for only a few days, and very rarely for more than a week. In addition, the symptoms of recently acquired HIV are usually caused by something other than HIV and HIV is present in only1% of persons with symptoms suggested as "typical" of HIV.
Avatar n tn Hi Guys, i have been having a rash across my chest for about 1 and a half months now, and it is itching and looks like small red bumps which are characteristics of an HIV rash. I am really freaking out about it, i have not had any high fevers after exposure though i have had hot flashes and chills, and now a sore throat after 2 months. I only received unprotected oral sex which is supposedly risk-free but do you think these rashes are ars rashes?
Avatar f tn I no longer speak to this girl and we only had sex once which was around 10-12 weeks ago. Could I be getting symptoms this late? Does anyone know the characteristics of a hiv rash?
Avatar m tn i had protected sex about a month ago.now i have swollen lymph nodes in my neck.they just got large in the past week but i dont know if i caused the inflammation by poking at them or not. are the swelling of lypmh nodes usually accompanied by the other symptoms such as rash/fever/sweats etc?
Avatar n tn what does the rash look like and what are the characteristics of the hiv rash? it has really got me messed up, because now everytime i feel tinglling or something i link it to hiv, although i was so close to convincing myself that that was not what it was. please somebody help me. i have a good job and dont want this hiv anxiety ruining my life.
Avatar f tn So about two weeks ago, I had sex with my long term monogamous boyfriend (unprotected, and I'm the insertive partner). About three days ago, I started getting random red large bumps in random places (none in genital, back or chest region); the few bumps that have developed were on my face and arm. They have the same characteristics as mosquito bites, however, I have never seen mosquito bumps this big.
Avatar n tn ..do anyone know whats the characteristics of enlarged lymphnode of HIv patients...i would like to know ..its location......hard,soft or rubbery?????and how about tenderness ..do it pains???and more about fluctuation???...ifanyone knows about it let me know ..
Avatar m tn Does a early HIV rash arrive at the same time and leave at the same time?
Avatar m tn Was sex protected?
Avatar m tn She would need to see a Dr for her rash, it has nothing to do with HIV. You can never use symptoms to try to get an indication of HIV status.
Avatar m tn I have protected intercourse with an unknown status individual 12 weeks ago (85 days). 8th week : I woke up and vomited at night, the next day I had diarrhea and low grade fever with extreme muscle ache. I assume that this is close to a flu-like symptoms or food poisoning. I took medication and was back to normal the next day. Around two weeks later, I developed a red itchy rash all over my back, it spread to my arms and my face. I took Antihistamine and it cleared up the next day.
Avatar f tn The only way adults get HIV is from unprotected vaginal or anal sex. You do not have an ars rash! You did not have a risk with condom usage for sex. HIV, for your knowledge, is never diagnosed by symptoms because those symptoms can have a variety of causes. Therefore, only a test is used to diagnose HIV. I am sure I can't talk you out of testing but you will be negative, I am sure of it.
Avatar n tn Finally, the symptoms you describe are not suggestive of early HIV infection. While share some characteristics (the sore throat) your fever is not high, and you don't report the other symptoms of early HIV, i.e. muscle aches, diarrhea, rash, etc. I would urge you not to worry.
Avatar m tn Your symptoms did not occur at the same time as is typical of HIV, your rash sounds nothing like an HIV rash, 6 weeks is late for ARS to begin, an you id not report the widespread severe muscle and joint aches which we see with ARS. 3) What do you mean by it is "uncharacteristic of ARS" to start at 6 weeks? Can ARS start at 6 weeks (fever starting at 6 weeks) or is it too late? When does it start mostly? latest time for onset you;ve seen? See above.
Avatar n tn it sounds as though your risk for HIV is low and there is no appreciable risk for HIV from the activities that you describe. There is no known risk for HIV from receipt of oral sex and the risk for infection from performing oral sex on an infected partner is less than 1 infection in 10,000 exposures. Whether or not dental disease, gum disease, or mouth sores increase that risk is unknown but it seems unlikely to be the case.
Avatar f tn HIV rash does not itch
Avatar m tn Hi guys. If i have hiv rash, how would it come about? Does it show up at once or it develops one pimple after the other, like one today, 2 tommorow and so on.
Avatar n tn The symptoms you describe have some of the characteristics of early HIV infection - rash and fever are part of this syndrome. BUT, so are muscle aches, diarrhea and high fevers. Thus your symptoms really do not make the criteria for the ARS. Further and perhaps more importantly, even among persons who are at risk (you are not), most symptoms compatible with the ARS turn out to be simply due to a plain old, every day viral infection of the sort that people get all the time.
Avatar f tn This includes serositis (pleurisy or pericardiatis, ask your doctor to check for pleurisy or inflammation of lining of lung), mouth ulcer, low WBC or leucopenia/anemia (hemolytic)/thrombocytopenia/lymphopenia, arthritis, kidney involvement, high ANA, finding of Smith Antibody (Anti-Smith)/ dsDNA/ antiphospholipid antibodies (anticardiolipin immunoglobulin G [IgG] or immunoglobulin M [IgM] or lupus anticoagulant), neurological features like seizures and psychosis, discoid rash and malar rash.
Avatar f tn what happen was that, after 17 days of this exposure, on 15th march 2013, i develop very itchy rash on my arm (i have had this kind of rash since 2007, it comes and goes at this same spot after a couple of months or so). i was not worried at first as i thought its the same old rash.
Avatar n tn As for your symptoms, while some of them share characteristics of the ARS, others like rash on soles and tongue bumps for instance, are not part of the ARS. In addition and perhaps more importantly, from what you describe, the likelihood that your partners are infected is very, very low and the odds of acquiring infection, if any one of them was infected (and they are not) is less than one in one thousand. if they were.
