Avatar n tn Ive been on Benzodiazepines all my adult life due to generalized anxiety. Im 52. In 1996 I withdrew from Valium, and ever since so many things make me very stressed. Sometimes my brain feels like its being squeezed. Things like calcium, I cant have any diary, vitamins even the B's, Natural progesterone, even though its suppose to relax, so many things, and it all started after I went of the Valium, and after having tremendous stress after doing so.
Avatar f tn I have a question. I was diagnosed years ago with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety Attacks and Agoraphobia. I had a discussion tonight with a friend who keeps saying I do it to myself. I have had this along with a diagnosis of ADD as well as Bipolar 2 and then Clinical Depression. I was wondering if Anxiety is really something that can be controlled by the mind or if it really does need to be treated with medication?
1132574 tn?1271672466 Hi Everyone, I am new to the anxiety forum. Had a a few weeks of anxiety hit me in January when I was having medical testing done. I am 36 and have high blood pressure every time I see a doctor as I just get so nervous when I go to the doctor. They ran tests which freaked me out even more and wham, I was then anxiouss all the time. The tests eventually all came back normal. With that reassurance my anxiety vanished.& I was even able ot take my BP at home with no anxiety.
Avatar m tn I have a generalized anxiety disorder and a phobia of HIV and rabies. I went to get my blood work down and the nurse used a vacutainer to draw blood. However, the vacutainer holder was reused ( the nurse confirmed it is only the needle which is changed and not the holder as it does not come into contact with the patient) and now I think I will get HIV and I keep thinking about HIV until I get tested again at 3 months after the window period. luckily I have medicines however I hate this.
Avatar f tn Yes, yes, and yes!! This is called GAD, generalized anxiety lingering in the background between attacks, very common!
Avatar m tn On reading your symptoms carefully,I feel that the light headedness is due to generalized anxiety disorder.Anxiety and panic attacks commonly cause such dizziness and light headedness. Also you need to get your blood sugar evaluated as diabetes has often been associated with polyphagia(increased hunger) and dizziness. At such a young age, having other neurological pathologies which can cause such symptoms is rare.Your symptoms are pointing towards the diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder.
391834 tn?1229342874 ve just started taking meds for my thyroid so hopefully my symptoms (fatigue and generalized felling of anxiety/nervousness) will be no more!
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with GAD 16 months ago but I have experienced anxiety symtoms since I was 18 now I am 51. Therapy has done wonders for me to understand the way my mind processes anxiety symptoms and has taught me how to deal with them. Also the frequency of my panic attacks have decreased since going through therapy and coming to this forum has helped . My concern for you is your need for a Dr. you can trust. Maybe you should consider going to a Dr. that has a good reputation.
1390847 tn?1344657468 I was just curious about generalized anxiety vs. anxiety over a specific thing. For me, I dont have generalized anxiety, I have a specific anxiety of throwing up (emetophobia). I wonder which is more "popular"...generalized or specialized?
Avatar m tn Benzodiazepines have robust efficacy in the short-term management of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), but were not shown to be effective in producing long-term improvement overall. Although benzodiazepines are much safer in overdose than their predecessors, the barbiturates, they can still cause problems in overdose.
Avatar m tn s about 8-10 inches on either side with dispersed pustules. This may be a far cry from just typical Generalized Anxiety but its worth looking into. I was considering going gluten- free for a week and seeing if i would notice a difference although I'm unsure when the symptoms would decrease after that change. thank you again for your assistance!!
Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
Avatar n tn Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is defined as chronic, excessive worry and fear that seems to have no real cause. Children or adolescents with generalized anxiety disorder often worry a lot about things such as future events, past behaviors, social acceptance, family matters, their personal abilities, and/or school performance. All children and adolescents experience some anxiety. It is a normal part of growing up.
Avatar m tn You can have generalized, and consistent symtoms of anxiety, called generalized anxiety disorder GAD, without having just panic attacks, or panic disorder. Your symtpoms sound a bit more on the severe or distressing side of anxiety disorders. My questions and suggestions would be, if this is the first time you are experiencing this, yes it could be anxiety, but go to the doctor urgently to be sure it's not serious.
Avatar f tn 8 weeks today! I think its a sticker. I suffer from generalized anxiety and stress over the smallest things!
Avatar f tn I was taking 1 mg a night or every other night. I take it for generalized anxiety and for insomnia. I feel like this medication has helped me where others have failed. No other medication has helped me with my sleep so that is why I using it. However, after 3 months on this medication, I feel that my hair is shedding excessively. My hair is falling out like never before and this is scaring me. Of course this gets me real nervous and is even causing more stress to my life.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder when I was 18. I believe very strongly that I have it. But there are days when I almost feel normal. What is it like for you?
Avatar m tn Your symptoms mostly suggest normal body sensations that seem more prominant than normal because of your anxiety about all this. Most likely the white spots indeed are hari follicles, or normal sebaceous skin glands -- which are easily seen on anybody's penis. If you remain unconvinced about my reassurance, see a health care provider to examine you and perhaps consider STD testing. But it would be extremely surprising to find out you have any sort of STD or other infection.
4762310 tn?1362165935 You only mentioned panic attacks above and so it could just be generalized anxiety.
Avatar m tn Some side effects are more common than others. Lexapro is used to treat major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder in adults. Some common side effects of Lexapro include nausea, difficulty sleeping, increased sweating, and drowsiness. Bleeding is a less common side effect, but can occur.
560272 tn?1311350293 I just wanted to "update", vitamins for anxiety and depression have helped me more than Prozac ever did....it also has helped to cut out junk food and sugar! So please research it and try it!
Avatar m tn Hi! I was wondering if anxiety can cause chest pains? And I don't mean specifically during panic attacks because I'm aware of that. But I have generalized anxiety disorder and my biggest anxious fear is of heart related issues. Is my constant worry about my heart causing my persistent chest pain? Is that possible for normal generalized anxiety to do? I'm a 19 yr old male. Iv had 3 ekgs, 1 holter monitor and 1 echocardiogram. Everything normal.
Avatar f tn I really don't think your case is too difficult to be treated. I'm not a Dr but from what you're describing it sounds like generalized anxiety disorder. There are several kinds of treatments to help you. Therapy and possible meds are a really good place to start. Just because Xanax made you feel worse does not mean another med won't help you. Many Drs will prescribed an anti depressant because it not only helps with depression but anxiety as well.
Avatar m tn GAD stands for Generalized Anxiety Disorder, not "EATING" disorder. Are you sure you're on the right forum? Many of your symptoms COULD be related to digestive/intestianl problems rather than "eating disorders," which we commonly think of as anorexia or bulimia The dry heaving, the nauses, the sharp pains in your chest and especially your abdomen and the loss of appetite.
Avatar n tn I took it for Generalized Anxiety disorder, my mom still takes it for full blown panic attack disorder and both of us know it may help you fall asleep but it won't necessarily help you get quality sleep. Have you tried any alternatives? I understand by the way, I have depression, anxiety, PTSD, all kinds of fun stuff!
