depression

Avatar f tn s not an easy one for adults. But if the depression has not been treated, it will still be there, and again, drugs don't treat it, they tamp down the symptoms. At that age I'm surprised therapy wasn't tried first, but so it goes.

Avatar n tn ) this procedure is scheduled for this coming Monday and I am having second thoughts about going ahead with the cath, do you think I should get a second opinion and the funny thing i'm a nurse!!! but i've only worked ob/gyn for the last 15years so i'm not familiar with all the aspects of the heart.
Avatar f tn This sounds like depression, take an online depression test (search depression test in google) and see what it says, if it suggests your depressed then tell your parents and go doctors.
Avatar f tn Yeah, so, I was wondering is it possible for teenagers to have depression... Because I know a few who have alot of the symptoms, and I want to help them but don't know what to do?
Avatar n tn We can certainly supply you with enough scientific study data to support the need for T3 when your Free T3 level is low in the range. Do you think such info might persuade your doctor to allow a trial of T3 med?
Avatar f tn org/forums/Teen-Social-Group/show/400 I believe it would be a good way to help daily Teen Depression and everyday stress that Teenagers go through. Any Teenager may join this group.
Avatar f tn After a year of treatment, vitamin D levels went up slightly in the placebo group, and went up slightly more in the normal-dose vitamin D group -- to 16 ng/mL for girls and to 20 ng/mL for boys. That's well below the 30 ng/mL level the U.S. National Institutes of Health states may be desirable for overall health and disease prevention. But kids who got 2,000 IU/day vitamin D3 saw their vitamin D levels soar -- to 38 ng/mL for girls and to 35 ng/mL for boys.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 and her T-4,Free level is 1.5. Her doctor is concerned because she said it is quite unusual for a teen to have an elevated thyroid. We are going to have a thyroid ultrasound done. The doctor also said this could be the cause of her wild mood swings. Although they are also talking about Bipolar disorder because of her symptoms and family history. How rare is hyperthyroidism in young teens, and what other symptoms would she experience? Her TSH was 2.
Avatar f tn well i use to be outside , up ready for school every morning , take showers everyday , do my hair , hanging with friends , eating everything lolll , and yea just happy like any other teen ! now i never hardly go outside unless i walk to the store , i losss alot of friends& my mom has to force me to eat. i usually just lay in bed alllday doing nothing , & i miss my bus , barely take showers or do my hair.
Avatar m tn She should wait for the thyroid test results. Thyroid being out is common cause of depression and treatment is thyroid meds NOT antideppressants.
Avatar f tn We did gluten free (and casein free) because it was promoted through autism groups. It didn't do anything for him, and it didn't do anything for me. We stopped after a few months, it's expensive and with no results, pointless.
Avatar m tn Hi I have a major problem. My teenager, who is 18 years old, was charged with a reckless crime. The max sentence is 4 years in prison for this crime. I find myself looking up suicide statistics because I don't think I can handle him going to jail or worse yet prison. I've found a attorney so hopefully he can help .I also have cancer am worried about that. I don't know what to do. How do I survive?
Avatar m tn Despite it seeming like it when you are a teenager, sex is not really all mechanics. My husband used to joke that when he was a teenager, "all someone would have to do is look at my *** crosseyed and I'd get a hard-on," and the ready hormone flow of being a teen seem sometimes to provide endless proof of that.
162279 tn?1270601359 I don't think he should take drugs for depression unless he's thinking of suicide or attempted suicide or he's hurting himself a lot. I understand a little where he is.
Avatar n tn your thyroxine and free T4 are on the low side of normal, however your TSh seems to indicate you are getting enough thyroid hormone. I do not know about the other hormones. If your hormone levels appear normal I would look at your adrenals.
Avatar m tn In my opinion the very best way to treat a thyroid patient is to test and adjust levels of the actual biologically active thyroid hormones (free T3 and free T4) with whatever type of medication is necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Symptom relief should be all important. Many members report that symptom relief for them required that FT3 was adjusted into the upper part of its reference range and FT4 adjusted to at least midpoint of its range.
Avatar m tn Your doctor should now test your FREE T3, FREE T4 and TSH. Make sure all of those are tested, and make sure that they order the FREE T3 and T4 tests. There are two other tests called total T3 and total T4. If FREE isn't specified, you will get total, and they are not nearly as good. TPOab (thyroid peroxidase antibodies) and TGab (thyroglobulin antibodies) are the two markers for Hashi's. You have to have both tested as some of us are positive for one, some the other and some both.
973741 tn?1342342773 Wondering what treatment options people know about, have tried for themselves or their kids related to treating depression in teenagers. I know this is a vulnerable population but leaving depression untreated is not an option when it reaches a certain point.
Avatar f tn It's fairly normal for teenagers to wonder about these things. Have you done anything to address your depression?
