1536712 tn?1294043301 I've been suspecting for some time that the weather/changes in weather affect my symptoms. I've been far worse for the past couple of days than I was for a week or two before that - and it just occured to me that after having stable cold weather for weeks, we have had rainy weather for two days now. Milder and wet. Coincidence? Anyone else with the same experience?

Avatar n tn Hi there. Emotional and physical triggers can cause a flare in fibromyalgia symptoms. A flare is usually accompanied by constant pain and lethargy. You might find difficulty to sit, stand or lie for even some time. the triggers known are strong emotions like depression and anger or stress, too much exercise, beginning of an illness, cold, damp weather or extreme heat, any stress on body. That noisy neighbor could affect your health indirectly by causing anger or stress in you. Hope this helps.

Avatar n tn I can only tell you about my own experience. I am a resident of Canada's Yukon Territory. As much as I love the place, the cold is hard on me. I got to spend a short time in Florida the last 2 winters and I found it very agreeable. My husband and I plan to spend 3 months in Florida this winter. I don't know if summer in Florida would be good for me, since really hot weather and high humidity bother me as well.
Avatar f tn Hey thickmadam!!!!!!! :) :) Welcome to the group. :) Fibromyalgia is one of those conditions that we don't know what exactly causes it. There are certain things that can trigger it like stress, weather, diet, and even a prior accident can cause symptoms. It is diagnosed with testing that rules out other conditions. Basically if they can't find anything else wrong and you still have symptoms, then they call it Fibromyalgia.

7450908 tn?1390996321 I was diagnosed with fibro about 18 years ago. I've been using Lyrica & was using Cymbalta for a while as well. I quit using the antidepressant because it seemed to make the depression worse. I'm on low income & I'm telling this medication is getting so expensive that I have a hard time affording to buy just a months worth at taking one a day. At certain times of the year I have to take more than one a day. Is there a more natural way to deal with fibro?
Avatar f tn cold can make arthritis hurt more, I have fibromyalgia and no matter what the condition is, any change is weather, stress, sickness will affect it. Also fibromyalgia has certain places that hurt more, mostly joints. It probley would be a good idea to see a neurologist.
Avatar n tn I am from East coast and decided to head west for the winter to see if warmer weather helped my Fibro. I am in Phoenix and have had new problems. My joints started to feel like knives were stabbing into my bones in my legs...my hand and feet started to swell (felt like HOT plates were sitting on them). Walking became difficult, and getting out of bed really hard. I found out I had low thyroid since being here and Ana test positive.
Avatar f tn When it is going to rain or snow, I begin getting ill. I become extremely tired (depending on the severity of the weather) and become disoriented and very short tempered. I often know when a storm or serious hurricane is happening in other areas of the earth. Anyway, I have been like this since I was a very young child. When the weather is wet or an over cast day, I become neausiated, tired, limp and I must rest immediately. Sometimes I feel like I am going to black out.
Avatar n tn I am a 22 year old female and after doing a bit of research it sounds as though I have several symptoms that occur under fibromyalgia. I have had throughout my entire life a bizarre amount of muscle problems and pain. In recent times (last 5-6 months) I have had occasions where my body and skin hurts so much that even my shirt is hurting it. This isn't an everyday, or even every week, event but it has happened probably 5 or 6 time.

1744567 tn?1314922688 Does anyone else experience an exacerbation of symptoms when the weather changes? I am bedridden when rain is near and it doesn't let up until the storm passes. I've heard of one person who actually moved to avoid these changes. I have written to her, but have yet to receive a reply.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia by a rheumatologist in February. I have had off and on pain for over 8 years now. As soon as I would be ready to call the doctor the pain usually disappeared, just to return in the future. I've had a bunch of bloodwork done, everything was normal and they said it was fibromyalgia. Also, in February, I saw a neurologist who diagnosed me with post viral syndrome. I don't know what symptoms are what anymore.
267076 tn?1270674331 I have Fibromyalgia also and a lot of the same symptoms. My neck and shoulders ache and feel like they are dragging me down. My legs feel so heavy and tired I prefer stairs to a grade or slant. Exercise is at a minimum - it can tear the muscles and jangle the nerves. You should exercise for about 5 minutes three times a day. When you stretch, hold the muscles for 5 -10 seconds and stop exercising before you feel pain. Gentle exercise is best for Fibromyalgia.
Avatar m tn Or it could be because of a viral infection due to a change in weather as the temperature where I live has dipped by a few degrees in past few days? There is no fever or chills or sweating. Thanks for your time and help.
311693 tn?1218132675 In relation to the weather I think people with Primary Fibromyalgia are most sensitive to changes in the atmospheric pressure. I have the most trouble at the point when the weather changes, or when the pressure changes. I don't necessarily mind if it's cold as long as it stays that way for a while. If the weather changes though it puts me in a flare. Even if it's warm front or a high pressure change- that too can place me into a flare.
Avatar f tn It could be the Fibromyalgia. Fibro causes problems with your hypothalamus gland which controls your body temperature, sleep and a range of other things. I have had the symptoms you are describing. Your body could also be trying to fight an infection, so I would check your temp. when these symptoms occur for fever. Your symptoms don't sound hormone-related to me, although hormone problems make Fibromyalgia symptoms worse.

Avatar f tn We are 60% water during a full moon we loose water and become dehydrated which causes the symptoms. My symptoms are different each time depending how close or far the moon is to us. During this time my legs become unstable, M.SM.S. hug, headaches, feet hurt, can't sleep without pain. And so on. till now I don't take medicine.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnoised with Fibromyalgia and my endocrinologist has been "experimenting" with treatments to see just what is thyoid related and what is not. I have been steadily gaining weight since she prescribed cortef 10mg and Armour thyroid 30mg 2x day with continued fatigue and exhaustion. After several years, I was informed if there may or may not be underlying thyroid conditon. I struggle with many other potential symptoms such as fatigue, cold extremities, dry skin.
