Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia symptoms virus

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn At the moment there is little evidence that the XMRV virus actually causes the most obvious signs and symptoms of FMS. If this virus is similar to other retroviruses and causes immune system problems, then your symptoms may actually be caused by other co-infections or opportunistic infections that are present because of immune system problems.
Avatar m tn ” This means that those with Fibromyalgia need a remedy specifically designed to target the latent hepatitis virus. Gene-Eden-VIR is such a remedy. “For a long time, we’ve said that latent viruses can cause disease. These findings provide evidence to substantiate this belief.
Avatar n tn Can you give us some information on this virus? Are you saying that this virus has been tested and found in CFS and Fibromyalgia? I personally believe that CFS, Fibro, etc are caused by pathogens....whether they are viral, bacterial, parasitic. I feel that Drs have used these names as a blanket, because they can't figure out the causitive factors of CFS and fibro. Also another way to push meds for symptoms, rather than figuring out the causes.
Avatar f tn I'm one of those who believes that yes, fatigue is a symptom of hcv, as well as other symptoms. I was dx'd with fibromyalgia and hcv simultaneously and thought it odd that all of my symptoms were attributed to the fibro when in fact that didn't have a clue as to what fibro was. At the time (and maybe still) the only way to dx fibro is by ruling out every other medical condition, there was/is not definitive test for it.
Avatar n tn I get this along with my fibromyalgia, but people without fibromyalgia can experience this also. It can go away on its own or your doctor may want to treat it with an anti-inflammatory medication. It could also just be your muscles in your chest tightening up - I also experience this and it goes along with fibro. Fibromyalgia is diagnosed based on having multiple tender points and performing a series of tests to rule out other conditions.
Avatar n tn Mono is horrible. I had it in my teens. The Epstein Barr Virus is the virus that causes mono. Most of the population has this virus, but not everyone with the virus gets infectious mono.according to my doctor. The Epstein Barr Virus can reactivate and you can also have mono more than once. There is a blood test for Epstein Barr. One theory with fibromyalgia is that it linked to Epstein Barr Virus or is triggered by the virus, but this is just a theory.
Avatar f tn Most of my bloodwork is normal and I am being treated by a rhuematologist. He thinks that I have a virus with PERHAPS an underlying auto-immune disease. He put me on prednisone for the past 6 months but it does nothing for the fevers. I only get fevers upon exertion. The doctor is saying that he has seen this before and it takes up to two years to go away but I am so weary. I have energy for a couple of hours a day, get a fever and then I'm in bed. It's unbelievable.
563582 tn?1217742383 The reason I asked this question was because as I read this forum last night I was struck by how many people seem to have some sort of virus that either triggered the onset of their fibro or made their symptoms more acute. I have a degree in Mortuary Science and through my studies and work I have found that more and more they are finding that viruses are responsible for many conditions.
Avatar n tn Keep in mind that Chronic Fatigue is a different illness than Fibromyalgia, even though they are set up as one community. There are just so many cross over symptoms that people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are often diagnosed with Fibromyalgia before it is determined that they actually have the uglier big brother to it, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Fibromyalgia can cause such severe fatigue that it may seem like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome even.
Avatar m tn I read of a few people with Neurological symptoms, Peripheral Neuropathy maybe, who had swollen hands and feet/ankles. paresthesia. numbness. slight loss of vision and other issues. I never heard of swelling being a typical feature of Fibromyalgia. consider that Fibro. is barely a defined clinical condition, basically only a collection of patients with similar symptoms.
Avatar n tn I am a 22 year old female and after doing a bit of research it sounds as though I have several symptoms that occur under fibromyalgia. I have had throughout my entire life a bizarre amount of muscle problems and pain. In recent times (last 5-6 months) I have had occasions where my body and skin hurts so much that even my shirt is hurting it. This isn't an everyday, or even every week, event but it has happened probably 5 or 6 time.
Avatar f tn Started having symptoms of chronic fatique, muscle and joint aches and pain, sleep disorder, short term memory loss, sensitive to noises and smells (strong odors), lack of concentration, etc.. After having these symptoms for about 6mnths, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Now, two years later, I am disabled with these symptoms to the point I have had to go on Social Security Disability. I went to a Neurologist who found "lesions/scars" on my brain.
Avatar f tn heard of a virus being the cause, though I have heard that an illness or trauma, mental or physical, may initiate the symptoms. I have heard that herpes may be related to the virus that could be the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. And it is speculated that the herpes virus does not break into our immune systems. It does, however, take advantage of an immune system that may all ready be worn down from other factors.
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me if these are symptoms of fibromyalgia and what you do to help aleviate all the pain, since I am not getting anywhere with my physicians. I would appreciate any adivce given to me.
Avatar f tn I have CFS/ Fibro and the herpes simplex virus. Does anyone know where I can find more info on these subjects? I am having a horrible flair up and if there are supplements to take to ease all of this pain.

237053 tn?1258828426 Hi Karey, I'm not real familiar with Sojergren's, but that could also be a consideration. The symptoms of dry eyes and perhaps muscle weakness could go along with that. Many of your symptoms sound familiar to what I expierenced. I have lupus and fibromyalgia. Most people with lupus also have achy joints (especially the knees), their hair is falling out and thier face looks red (rash like). Are you experiencing any of this?
Avatar n tn It could also be something like fibromyalgia. Check the fibro board and see if the symptoms fit. I have this disease and frequently feel this way. Do you have specific areas of pain or just general aches?
Avatar f tn Hashi sufferer of 4 years, recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Have become convinced that Epstein Barr Virus contracted in a 6 month long infectious mononucleosis stint, 15 years ago, is at the root of my 4 year hell. Started taking 150mg Ranitadine after reading an obscure forum somewhere. I FEEL NORMAL, and it started from my 2nd day of Ranitadine. The sick, sick, (pressure/nauseous) feeling in my thyroid is GONE for the 1st time in 7 years. Brain fog gone.. I have energy.
Avatar f tn What are the common symptoms of fibromyalgia of this illness? What kind of pain do we suffer from it?Which part of the body being attacked?
Avatar m tn t work for me, and there is no need to waste the money seeing a specialist for an antidepressant treatment that a family doctor could give me. My symptoms of chronic fatigue seemed to start with Epstein Barr, now I have the joint/nerve pain. I recently saw a medical acupuncturist for treatment, and this quack doctor discounted everything I told her about the Epstein Barr virus, and told me that this whole condition was in my head, and I needed antidepressants.
