fibromyalgia

4942618 tn?1361335384 Hi! Yes, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome are common in people inflicted with Human Herpes virus 6. Also, the condition is worsened due to post viral fatigue as a result of HHP-6 and mono. Just as mono causes recurrent flares, HHP-6 too is known to cause recurrent flares. Thus the fatigue, body aches and pain persist. Antiviral therapy is known to reduce the fatigue and other symptoms. You can discuss this with your doctor.
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me if these are symptoms of fibromyalgia and what you do to help aleviate all the pain, since I am not getting anywhere with my physicians. I would appreciate any adivce given to me.
Avatar n tn http://health.iwon.com/article/id/535920.html I do have many fibromyalgia symptoms, as probably many of us do as it is a common symptom. When they found the HCV, they also noted mono and Epstein Barr, which I don't really consider a factor, but CFS is in the family I think. I know my HCV came from a blood transfusion, I am not sure if the others do.
Avatar m tn Those treatments don't work for me, and there is no need to waste the money seeing a specialist for an antidepressant treatment that a family doctor could give me. My symptoms of chronic fatigue seemed to start with Epstein Barr, now I have the joint/nerve pain. I recently saw a medical acupuncturist for treatment, and this quack doctor discounted everything I told her about the Epstein Barr virus, and told me that this whole condition was in my head, and I needed antidepressants.
1943833 tn?1349280189 I have wondered often over the last few years if I have Fibromyalgia, but have never asked a doctor about it because I don't seem to have the tender points. I'm wondering how many of these symptoms are "common" for fibromyalgia. Or maybe CFS? -occasional severe sensitivity to noise. I can be sitting in a room, with people around me and noises I would normally not mind (kids playing, etc) will "hurt". I don't really have a headache, and it's not an actual pain.
554442 tn?1221238825 Fibromyalgia (FMS or Fibro for short) is a chronic condition which causes widespread pain and fatigue as well as a variety of other symptoms. The name Fibromyalgia comes from "fibro" meaning fibrous tissues (such as tendons and ligaments), "my" meaning muscles, and "algia" meaning pain. Fibro does not cause joint pain or swelling. The pain from Fibromyalgia is produced in the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles and tendons. http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar m tn Researchers at Dicle University and the Yüzüncüyıl University in Turkey recently reported that patients infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV) have a higher incidence of fibromyalgia. The study was published in the International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases and is entitled “Fibromyalgia incidence among patients with hepatitis B infection”.
Avatar m tn Only this year she had been diagnosed with Hepatitis C as the virus has just become active. Now the virus has become active her Fibromyalgia has spread throughout her body and pain become far more severe, as it is said Hepatitis can be a known trigger for Fibromyalgia. But i am curious on knowing how anyones symptoms of Fibromyalgia is after clearing the Hepatitis C Virus ?
Avatar n tn It was so very kind of your to go into such detail. It does not appear that I have many of the symptoms for fibromyalgia. I am going to look up some information on costochondritis when I can. I am having a quite a lot of chest tightening at times when I just sit by the computer so when its better, I will look up some info on this. You really went through alot to finally get diagnosed. Must go for now. Again, thank you so much for all the information and take care.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia and low D have the same symptoms You probably do have different health issues that need to be addressed. Raising levels is beneficial though. No I haven't heard that Low D causes missed periods. PCOS and Thyroid can.

Avatar m tn Hello Cliff, I saw your post and feel for you. I was the one going through treatment 2 years ago and prior to doing so, I ached constantly (I refused to let anyone call it fibromyalgia because of the stigma attached to it!), and was so fatigued..I nearly didn't make it through treatment because the interferon began attacking my thyroid, causing my heart to race, the anemia to accelerate, and my blood values to alter alarmingly.
Avatar n tn ) I'm now fairly certain that a virus I contracted six years ago set off a slew of (escalating) autoimmune-type symptoms, all next to impossible to get help with because nothing shows up on medical tests. I recently began trying the SHIN protocol in the book Fatigued to Fantastic. For the cognitive problems I've been looking at Goldsteins book, Betrayal by the Brain. The former book may help you; it has some good ideas. Best of luck -- this is very challenging stuff to deal with.
Avatar f tn There is no medical test for Fibromyalgia, however, there are symptoms and certain tender spots on the body that help to make the dx. There is no cure for fibromyalgia. Hope this helps. One thing for sure, keep a medical journal of ALL your symptoms, dates and time. This helps the doctor to make an accurate diagnosis. It also helps you to take a step back and look at the health issues you have.
563582 tn?1217745983 The reason I asked this question was because as I read this forum last night I was struck by how many people seem to have some sort of virus that either triggered the onset of their fibro or made their symptoms more acute. I have a degree in Mortuary Science and through my studies and work I have found that more and more they are finding that viruses are responsible for many conditions.
Avatar f tn However, in this situation I would be following up with your mother's doctors to see what is going on. Fibromyalgia is a catch-all disease that people are told they have their symptoms of muscle and joint pain and stiffness etc. can't be matched to another disease. Some docs also say fibromyalgia can be an after-effect of Lyme disease, but a Lyme specialist might say the Lyme just wasn't treated completely at the beginning.
217229 tn?1192766004 Someone very kindly suggested after reading my posts that I might be having an episode of Post TX Fibromyalgia. After reading through the symptoms - and through multiple websites I'm thinking there is a very good chance that this "catch-all" name for all of the symptoms I am having fit right on there. I'm no hypochondriac by ANY means... But I am a realist. And I hate feeling badly - without knowing precisely what it is that is causing it.

1534024 tn?1294249675 Like if I get a cold...I feel as if I have the flu and if I get the flu I feel like i'm dying. One time I got a virus and I was put in the hospital for 4 days because every time I would get out of bed or move around my heart rate would go up to like 180 and I also felt really weak and tired, the doctors did all the tests in the world and couldn't figure out what it was, they said it was possibly just a bad virus. Thankfully that went away.
209591 tn?1267418314 Thanks to a website called Medhelp, I was messaged from several people that were originally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and later with Celiac Disease. After researching the symptoms and my current laboratory testing, I am starting to wonder if it could be Celiac Disease. I am in desperate need of medical advice, from someone that has more experience in Autoimmune Diseases.
10059661 tn?1407568770 I have all the pain pressure points and patches of hypersensitive, burning skin of fibromyalgia but some of the other symptoms could be either/or. Muscle weakness, tiredness, sleep problems, diarrhea, and foggy brain. A couple of months ago I noticed my legs getting weaker. And they would shake when I tried to get up from a sitting or squatting position. Then I started to hurt all over, my appetite disappeared, and I couldn't sleep.
Avatar m tn Hello everyone! I would just like to thank you in advance for Reading my post. I am a 21 year old male who was once extremely active but my health has deteriorated over the past 5 years. I have been to over 25 doctor visits over the past 5 years but have been unable to find a direct cause for my symptoms. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve had blood taken (>20 times).
Avatar m tn It does not mean that you do not have any other type of arthritis. The most common one is osteoarthritis. The symptoms that you are experiencing in your shoulders and arms, may be due to changes in the rotator cuff itself, or referred problems from the bones in your neck (cervical area). The tingling in your thighs and especially if this is on the outer thighs, and especially with you having a dull ache in your groin area, could be caused by a condition called meralgia paraesthetica.
215021 tn?1224886057 Epstein Barr Virus, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Bipolar Disorder. I have the worst thyroid that has been seen by the endroconologists I have seen. My tsh was 490 the last time we checked it. I knew it was bad, because I had gained 40 pounds in less than 3 months. I went on the armour thyroid *works much better for my body* and a heavy-duty dose of T-3 Cytomel. Guess what? Have already lost 36 of those pounds a month later.
1692515 tn?1306273648 I have been told my mother that at 2 years old I put a bobbie pin in an electrical outlet and she had to get a mop to dislodge me. My question is could my fibromyalgia, reoccuring shingles, and electric shock feeling be caused by this and what can be done to stop it.
211043 tn?1337054301 It's funny, I actually have my first appt w/a rheumatologist this Weds, to be checked for Lupus. However, everything seems to be hitting the fan this week and with recent symptoms, I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't fibromyalgia. I know he can check for that too though, so I thought I'd get some opinions here.
