Avatar m tn multiple infections. Mostly my issues were allergies, and several years ago I was told I have nasal polyps. The salt water rinse seemed to have worked after the first week. that was a years ago, sometimes when i get a sinus infections, the Augmenten would not work, So the Doxycycline worked. Z-PAK works great for my too and you take that 5 days, but it keeps working for 5 days that. Does you doctor know about the numbness, that could be VERY DANGEROUS, if you did mention it to the doc.
Avatar m tn 1) not all polyps are alike and the micro-anatomy of the polyp may be an indication of the likely cause, 2) nasal polyps are associated with allergens, occupational chemical exposures, cigarette smoking and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), 3) many but not all nasal polyps respond favorably to inhaled nasal steroids, 4) a subclass of polyps has been shown to exhibit a reduction in size in response to low dose doxycycline administered for 3 weeks and, 5) polyp size has been shown to decrea
Avatar f tn Hi, Omnaris (ciclesonide) is a steroid used in treating the inflammation, congestion, sneezing, itching, and runny or stuffy nose that occur due to sinus infections or nasal polyps. Nasal polyps are treated by inhalational or oral steroids or with surgery( open or endoscopic). Although inhalational steroids cause fewer side effects than oral steroids, long-term use can lead to nasal bleeding or perforation of the septum and an increased risk of glaucoma.
Avatar m tn All of your problems could be related, but it's just conjecture at this time, although you can read about it here... http://www.drmirkin.com/morehealth/g220.
Avatar f tn I just had surgery to remove very large nasal polyps and fungus from my nose three weeks ago. Since the surgery I have visited the doctor once a week for deep cleaning. He is able to get out whatever I can't. My cleaning routine entails daily sinus rinse, three times a day. I dont want this to comeback since this is my second surgery. Today's office visit, the doctor said he could visible see signs of growth again of the polyps.
4856806 tn?1360095565 My 11 year old son has had nasal polyps on & off for last 3 years. He does not have any other respitory problems. They seem to be worse when he stays at peoples houses who smoke, what i would like to know is will that make his polyps worse or is it just a coincidence?
Avatar f tn We have the two things you write about in common. Blisters on feet and a husband with nasal polyps. My husband being too darn typical went for years without seeking medical attention for his ever growing breathing troubles. We moved to a "high allergy town" 9 years ago. He never had lived in a place like this before so I believe the area set him in this spiral. He was rushed to the ER after 6 years in this town for the inability to breath.

497572 tn?1209812815 Early studies of leukotrienes synthesis inhibitors have shown improvements in nasal airflow and reduction in nasal polyps on endoscopy and imaging studies. Benefits appear to be greatest in patients with concomitant allergic rhinitis and eosinophilic infiltration of the nasal polyps on histology. • Other agents: Other agents with a possible role in management of nasal polyposis are macrolides antibiotics, topical diuretic therapy, and intranasal lysine–acetylsalicylic acid.” Try these.
Avatar n tn Are there other signs r symptoms present? Medications are the most common treatment for small nasal polyps. If you have one or more small polyps, your doctor is likely to prescribe a corticosteroid nasal spray which may relieve inflammation, increase nasal airflow and may help shrink polyps. For larger growths, surgery may be indicated. Polyps have a tendency to recur. It would be best to have it evaluated by a specialist (ENT) for proper management. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn This sounds a lot like what I had. After a CT of the head they found that I had many, many nasal polyps. There were so many I couldn't breathe and my nose ran all the time (or was stopped up). When I laid on my side the water which couldn't escape because the polyps blocked the exit) just stayed in and blocked my breathing. I had never heard of polyps, but my dentist noticed them on x-ray of my teeth and explained that I needed to have them removed.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 18 year old male and i am suffering from nasal polyps since i was at very young age approx since 7-8 years and that troubles me a lot and the polys are in the both of the nostrils and those are visible and im not sure whether the polys are present inside the nasal synus and as am a student i wont be able to concentrate on my studies and i have cold or nasal congestion and sneezing every day normally and that congestion becomes chronic when i come in contact with dust or when i get co
Avatar n tn Have you been checked for nasal polyps? I myself have had problems with a badly running nose for years. I recently discovered I have polyps (although I'm not sure which caused which.) Something may be blocking the normal discharge of nasal mucus via the throat.
Avatar n tn The 2 most common causes in adolescents and adults are deviation of the nasal septum and nasal polyps, the latter often associated with chronic allergic inflammation of the nose. A deviated nasal septum can be corrected with surgery. Nasal polyps were, in the past, often treated surgically but at this time treatment with an inhaled nasal steroid, such as Flonase® (fluticasone), can effectively shrink the nasal polyps. You should make arrangements to be seen by an ENT specialist.
Avatar f tn For several decades now, at least since middle school, my nose has had the appearance of having a nasal hump. This was a change from the way it had been when I was very young. Until recently, I'd just thought that was how my nose was. Then, I started applying castor oil topically twice a day, beginning a few months ago. I've been using castor oil topically for another place on my skin, to diminish a scar as I've read it can help eliminate growths.
Avatar f tn I am always on antibiotics and currently just got on 21 days of doxycycline. I was just on doxycycline for 10 days a month ago. My doc says I have a nasal polyp and I have ENT appt June 1st. I take advair, abruetoral when asthma may flare, singulair, and rhinocort or flonase when I can get samples. I normally cant afford the advair or singulair with out samples from doc. Anyway, I am tired of feeling drugged and sick.

Avatar m tn The first was to remove polyps and a deviated septum, the second was revision surgery to remove scar tissue and to drill windows in for drainage, the third was to remove a frontal sinus infection, and the fourth was to reduce the turbinate on the right side. I have continually recurring bouts of thickened mucous and inflammation that ends up in repeated infections. I also had repeated bronchitis and have now been diagnosed with adult onset asthma.
Avatar m tn But i went to a private doctor and he agreed with the scan i even saw another doctor and he also agreed that there is swelling in my nose after looking in them (left side nasal polyps) and recently i visited an ENT and she looked and said she wasn't seeing any and from the scan its not 100% clear so now i have to do another scan to make sure but this time its more focused on my face.
Avatar n tn The pressure sensation could be due to sinusitis, nasal polyps, nasal congestion, internal ear problem or due to temporal arteritis. Take steam twice a day and see if the pressure is relieved. If it is then it could be due to sinusitis. Sometimes an Eustachian tube (tube connecting ear to throat) block can cause these pressure symptoms. Try valsalva maneuver (take a deep breath and blow while pinching your nostrils shut and closing your mouth). Hope these tips help.
Avatar f tn They can cause inflammation of the nasal mucosa and the bleeding. Sinus infections can cause stuffiness of the nose with nasal blockage, which can make breathing through the nose difficult. It can also cause post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. But it could also be due to other causes like polyps or other inflammatory causes due to allergens or infections of the nasal mucosa. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment.
1302049 tn?1272933134 Hi, How are you? Possible treatments for sinus polyps include medications and surgical means. Nasal sprays that contain corticosteroids may be used to shrink inflamed tissue. If the polyps are due to allergic inflammation, physicians could prescribe antihistamines to reduce allergic response. If the polyps are very large, this may require surgical removal. Migraine headaches may have abortive and preventive medications as well. Check with your doctor for proper management.
