Delayed period reasons

Common Questions and Answers about Delayed period reasons

period

Avatar n tn If so, there could be many reasons for that. Sometimes ovulation is delayed and when that happens, your period will be delayed too. It could be because of stress, too much exercise...or you could have been pregnant and had an early miscarriage (but if it was a miscarriage, I think you would have known). There are a number of other reasons too why ovulation is delayed sometimes. Are your cycles normally regular?
Avatar f tn Pregnancy, stress, dietary changes, a lot of exercise, illness, and hormonal issues can all cause a delayed or missed period. Reasons for a delayed period are certainly not limited to these, though. To determine the exact cause if pregnancy is not a possibility and you are still waiting for this missed period, you may consider going to the doctor to get some tests done.
Avatar f tn Hello, There are several reasons why a woman have delayed menstruation and this could be due to unhealthy diet, stress (emotional or physical), sudden weight gain or loss, caffeine, alcohol, and smoking. Gynecological conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and uterine cysts or polyps, can also bring about alteration in menstrual cycle. However, pregnancy is still the most common cause of delayed or missed period.
Avatar f tn hi. im 3weks delayed i had no sexual contact since my husband go back to saudi. im not pregnant. but recently taking cenical for weight loss and take antibiotic for my cough.. does that medication causes delayed menstration? need your advice...
Avatar f tn Hello, Delayed or missed period is known as amenorrhea. Apart from pregnancy, there are many other reasons for a delayed period. The other causes are hormonal imbalance like in PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome), stress, obesity, malnutrition, anemia, hypothyroidism, illness, etc. Consult a gynecologist and get these causes ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Thank you......i saw it today, guess is due to stress.
Avatar f tn The slow thyroid throws off hormones and then periods cease or are infrequent. Other reasons for not having a period exist as well. Best to see your doctor to discuss why you aren't menstruating.
Avatar f tn Have you taken a pregnancy test since your last period? You say you didn't have intercourse? Did the penis come into contact with your vagina at all? If so, then pregnancy can be possible. However, from what you've said I don't think you're pregnant. Many things can delay a period -stress, hormone imbalance, sudden weight or diet change, PCOS, cysts etc so I would consult your doctor and see what's causing it.
Avatar f tn yes, stress is one of the major reasons of delayed/missed period. Did you take another preg test? It happened to me last month i was delayed for 3 days but aunt flo came on 4th day, but right now I got positive result after 5 days of missed period.
Avatar f tn also you were near your period date.. periods may be delayed due to several other reasons like stress, hormonal changes, sudden increase in weight etc..
Avatar n tn So can I safely say that these 4 reasons are the ONLY reasons that might cause delayed seroconversion? No other MEDICATIONSv, VITAMINS or ILLNESSES(like medications for cough, flu(ANIT-HISTAMINS) and sore throat(ANTI INFLAMMATORY pills) would have an effect on the 3 month window period?Meaning basically if you are not an IV DRUG USER, not on CHEMOtherapy, PEP or ANTI REJECTION DRUG FROM ORGAN TRANSPLANT you DONT HAVE TO worry about the 3 months window period??
Avatar n tn This happens to lots of women though--- they have an extremely long cycle out of the blue. Reasons for a late period include illness, weight gain or loss, stress, changes in routines, the holidays, new exercise regimes, etc. If you have trouble with your thyroid, this is a common cause of long cycles. So, I'd see if you get your period soon and if not, then go ahead and see your doctor. I had periods every three to four months for about a year and a half due to a slow thyroid.
Avatar m tn Hello, Apart from pregnancy, there are many other reasons for a delayed period. The other causes are hormonal imbalance like in PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome), stress, obesity, malnutrition, anemia, hypothyroidism, illness, etc. The only way to know whether you are pregnant is to get a pregnancy test done. You can do a home pregnancy test by using a pregnancy kit easily available at chemists. Also, it is suggested that you see a gynecologist who will examine you.

Avatar f tn Hi there, Gynaecosid is used for Amenorrhea, when your period is absent for other reasons than pregnancy. Though one week after periods and 1 week before periods is considered as sage period for sex there are chances of pregnancy. You should have ruled out pregnancy before taking gynecosid.Since you have not had your periods it is best to get evaluated. Delayed periods can be due to hormonal imbalances, stress, ovulation disorders etc.Consult a doctor. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!

Avatar m tn i also have the same dilemma now. i am 10 days delayed but when i used a pregnancy tester during the 7th day of being delayed, got 2 lines but one is kinda blurred. i checked on the 8th day and it's the same. i went to an OB and have ultrasound but saw nothing. the only thing she noticed is that my endometrium is 1.2 cm thick instead of 1 cm.. am i pregnant???
Avatar n tn I'm delayed on my period by 18 days, basically half a month and I've done quite a few research and it could be that I had excercised repeatedly for three days and that kind of delays me or it could also be too much coffee. I'm 16 and i haven't had intercourse over the past year. They say stress can cause you to miss your period and well lately at school I've just been all types of moods.

Avatar f tn When your period is delayed the first thought is always the chance of pregnancy if you have had unprotected sex but there are also other reasons your period is delayed such as stress, hormonal changes etc. I think you should take a preg test, if its negative maybe wait a week to see if your period comes as you may just be having a longer than normal cycle. If it still hasn't arrived its probably a good idea to see your doctor for a blood test.
