Avatar n tn Hello, Bleeding that occurs after stopping the birth control pills is withdrawal bleeding. Even if you stop taking the active birth control pills in between it will cause breakthough or withdrawal bleeding in the next couple of days. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Used low-dose birth control pills June - August 2007. Last period (day 1) was September 2 after stopping birth control pills. No menstruation since that time. Negative pregnancy tests. Do you have any suggestions as to what may be causing the delayed menstruation? I never experienced a delay in ovulation/ menstruation following birth control before, so I am confused as to what may be causing this.
Avatar f tn If you stop pills suddenly it is common to experience breakthrough bleeding. Few women may have their periods delayed after stopping pills. It may take a month or so for your periods to regularize. If you had sex while you were on pills the chances of pregnancy are very less. After being off the pills there are chances that you can conceive anytime. There is a very high risk of pregnancy .
1080181 tn?1425398466 Is this delayed/missed period normal for post-pregnancy? Do you think it's from stopping the birth control? I had a c-section, and my babies have been formula fed the entire time.
Avatar f tn Some people do take a while to get their periods back after stopping birth control, so this is likely what is causing the delayed period, especially with all the stress.
Avatar n tn I've seen my GYN, and he put me on 10 days of provera, but I still didn't get it. Now, he's put me on birth control pills (Yasmin) and said to see if that helps. I'm on day 6 of the week of placebos and still haven't had a period. What's next? Is this a common problem? I had no idea that the depo would have this affect when I started taking it.
Avatar n tn You might have spotting or other menstrual irregularities through out the next month or two, though. You might either have a delayed period or the other extreme-a very heavy period. And you MUST be 100% sure you aren't pregnant right now. You say you haven't been on the pill in 2 weeks because you forgot to start the pack? Why didn't you just start a day or two later? What "back up" method have you been using?
Avatar n tn hi ive miscarried 3 times last year but 6 in total.ive got a chromosone problem.the last 3 had to have d&cs as i had delayed miscarriage.each time the bleedin after and my 1st period were all different i lost my last baby at 7 wks a mnth ago and a bit worrid as all ive got is brown blood and that it.not a proper period could i be pregnent again?
Avatar f tn It’s a very difficult and tricky situation. The late period can be due to coming off the birth control, even if you had a period in between. On the other hand it can also be due to pregnancy. If urine pregnancy test is negative then go for a blood pregnancy test. A blood HCG estimation test would be more reliable. If the test is negative then you are not pregnant. If it is borderline, repeat after 48 hours to see if the levels are rising. Rising levels indicate pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Hubby and I decided to ttc and I went off birth control when I was suposed to get my period. My period usually starts 4 days after stopping bc. We had lots of sex and a week later, still no period.
Avatar f tn I don't know about anyone else, but I have had such a difficult time trying to find the right birth control pill. I need one that doesn't make me tired, cause weight gain, or acne. It seems like every pill I try-either it helps my acne and makes me hungry and sooooo...... tired. I am also on Vyvanse for ADHD and that decreases my appetite.
Avatar f tn A couple years ago I had pain in my right side and a missed period after going off of birth control, my doctor thought it was a cyst and did an ultrasound. There was nothing there but we decided I should go back on birth control since I was not actively trying to conceive at the time. On February 2nd we decided to start actively trying so I stopped my birth control and now the pain came right back and I have not had a period.

Avatar f tn HI, Periods can get delayed for several months after stopping birth control pills or depo shots. This is known as post- pill amenorrhoea. This is usually self correcting within 3 to 6 months. Now that you have had no periods since 8 months, I suggest that you consult a Doctor for an evaluation. An ultrasound scan and hormonal panel should be done. Progestin can help get withdrawal bleeding. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided.
Avatar n tn I am the same way though, I dont have periods while on birth control. I had the IUD removed July 17th and had a period on the 20th and now I'm pregnant. I would defenitly see your doctor though medicmama just to be sure.
Avatar f tn I was a virgin, so there was no worry, but I am no longer a virgin, so it's kind of worrisome to miss my period. I was on birth control until early this year. February was the last month I took the pill. After that, I switched to condoms. (They're cheaper, & I'm broke 'cause I live out in my OWN apartment now.) I'm in a committed, long-term relationship. I have been under relatively little stress lately.
Avatar n tn I read everyone's comments and just wanted to say I am having the same night sweats a week before my period. I started taking Yasmin three months ago after being switched off my old birth control. I notice the sweats happen one the two days when I start taking the white "sugar" pills. I am a 26 year old female with no other problems. I am certain the link is my hormones but changing clothes in the middle of the night from these sweats is annoying!
Avatar n tn the bleeding could be a period as the morning after pill can affect your dates and you don't always have your period at the normal times straight after taking it. Does she normally have abdominal pain with her periods??
Avatar n tn i started birth control for the first time on this period, and 3-4dys after period have super abundant and clumpy brown discharge(more than normal and lasts longer than the normal brown discharge i get after period),,,,i think period was a tad bit shorter than normal help?????
Avatar n tn She is a smoker (but under 35), so that was another consideration for stopping the pills. She took a home test Fri 11/22 because she was scared after her period did not come. That would be about a week after when she was expecting it. Would you recommend she test again, or can we rely on this? Do you think her hormones need time to 'reset' after this amount of Lo Loestrin? If so, how long should she expect to wait?
