These medicines are thought to work by increasing the activity of chemicals called serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. Where both Paxil and Cymbalta work on Serotonin the Cymbalta works on Norepinephrine which is the chemical that helps with pain sensation in the body. Since you had a problem with serotonin, just like I do, ask your doctor about Wellbutrin. This medicine focuses on Norepinephrine and dopamine which is an energy chemical.

Any ideas on what might work well as a switcheroo from this med? I have recently started taking Vitamin D supplements, as I live in a very cloudy state and I always feel so, so much better when it's sunny and I think this could be a factor. I actually have been feeling a bit better since taking it (I've been taking it for about 3 weeks now), but still not feeling the way I want to. Exercise helps me HUGE, but I have NO motivation and get bored/lose focus within minutes.

I've been on pretty well every anti-d on the market, had anticonvulsants and even lithium in the doc's desire to boost the anti-d's, and after the last two assessments by shrinks, the consensus was "treatment-resistant major depression". Of course, this phrase is BigPharma-speak for "Our chemicals don't work on this guy." It happens.
Hi, I was recently put on cymbalta, flexeril, mobic, and vitamin D. Cymbalta is for fibro pain, flexeril for the muscle spasms, mobic for stiffness, and vitamin D once a week because it was low. Over four years experience —this includes heroin, and all other street drugs, alcohol, and prescription medications--has taught me that natural detox works 100 times better than detox formulated and predicated by the use of other mind altering chemicals.
I am sure it could be many things, but you might want to get tested for Celiac disease and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Are you anemic? I would suggest taking magnesium 500 mg every morning and 400 mg of calcium with 2000 IU of vitamin D at night for your chronic pain.

But I don't now if it was there to begin with or is a consequence of the illness." (source link below). I have mixed feelings on vitamin D.

Vitamin B-6 is particularly important in regulating the absorption, metabolism, and utilization of amino acids. Caution: With both DLPA and L-tyrosine (described below.), you need to be watchful for increased blood pressure, headaches, or insomnia. These side effects are indications that an excessive stimulation of the nervous system has occurred.
