Aldara for skin cancer treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara for skin cancer treatment

aldara

Avatar n tn I've recently had colposcopy biopsies. The Lab reports came back high grade squamous cells, Vain III. I really dont understand it, but evidently the bad cells are thru 3 layers of the vaginal wall. My dr prescribed Aldara vaginally, twice a week for 12 weeks. I've had my 4th treatment, and I'm not having fun. Within 24 hours after teatment I am crying in pain, muscle aches, joint pain, my skin over my whole body hurts. I also have vaginal itching, burning, but its not that bad.
Avatar m tn If for example, your are diagnosed with a melanoma skin lesion and the doc says to apply the aldara 1x/day every other day for 3 months. During this time, if your skin reacts violently in that area and perhaps beyond where the original lesion was, then your immune system is in over drive and will successfully clear the cancer in the area of the reaction. If there is no reaction, then there was nothing to attack.
Avatar m tn I have read elsewhere to only apply to the warts, but i have also read that aldara seems to respect healthy skin and only attacks unhealthy skin. Which is true and should i continue applying the aldara liberally to the entire areas. 2. The areas that have crusted and flaked are red and raw. Do i continue putting the aldara on those regions or should i stop? The cream does not bother me and the rawness is by no means unbearable or even that aggravating.
Avatar m tn Don't let the on-line Aldara salesman scare you with his rendition of chicken little. In your situation, the sky is not falling. Google 'skin tag' and 'genital warts'. You'll see a fairly distinct difference. Also, the strains of HPV that cause warts are not cancer causing. As for virusessuck. Don't listen to him. You don't need a fricken' bone-marrow transplant or some magic supplement.
Avatar m tn Just started a treatment of Aldara today. I always seem to have a few small genital warts on me. Does anyone know what I can expect. I am 31 and healthy in every way. I have been receiving cryotherapy for 3 years and they always come back. I was told that Aldara will help get my immune system involved in fighting the virus so I will have a better chance of losing the warts. Has anyone out there used thus treatment ?
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Aldara (imiquimod) to get rid of a few perianal HPV warts since cryotherapy was only making it worse. After only about 2 weeks of usage almost all symptoms of the warts were gone however I now have perianal psoriasis in its place. That is one of the side-effects of imiquimod and it mainly strikes people whom are genetically prone to having psoriasis.
Avatar f tn Actinic keratoses are thickened, scaly, pre-cancerous patches of skin on the face and scalp, usually caused by too much sun exposure. Actinic keratoses are also known as solar keratoses. Aldara is used for several skin conditions. Your doctor will tell you where to apply Aldara cream, and how often and for how long to apply it for your condition. Aldara should be applied just before bedtime and left on the skin for 6-10 hours. If your skin condition reappears you need to talk to your doctor.
Avatar n tn i used aldara and i worked for me i used it for bout 2 wks n they went away. but dey came back.
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar n tn Could this be a primary herpes outbreak or is it normal for the skin to react this way after ending aldara treatment? I experience minimal itching which i always have and no pain but to touch the affected ares is a little tender.
535760 tn?1213891166 I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear). Aldara has some discomfort associated with it, but I found it less painful than TCA (though much more itchy!). Any treatment for genital warts is uncomfortable though.
Avatar m tn I have used aldara for awhile.. (i'm female)for me its only made my skin more sensitive and once it gave me a blister which made me bleed. Maybe you shoulod just call and ask your doc about whats going on..I only thought aldara caused local skin reactions.
Avatar f tn I've had genital warts since August. I have had Aldara cream 3 times, it worked for me but didn't completely clear up one cluster. So, it was recommend that I have cryotherapy. I had 2 sessions of this, but the wars just came back and started spreading again. I'm female and originally just had them on the area between my having and anus. Well I went back to the clinic yesterday and the woman was awful to me.
Avatar m tn after the aldara treatment stops,,,does the red skin return to normal?
Avatar n tn 1. Without treatment HPV infections typically eventually go away by themselves. Because there is little health risk associated with visible warts they are less well studied than the "flat" warts which cannot be seen but which cause abnormal PAP smears in women. Nonetheless, the available data suggest that even without therapy visible genital warts will go away without therapy over time but that this time may be as long as 2 or more years.
Avatar n tn im doing it when i get back to the states...ive gone the aldara treatment twice now and ive had a horrible last 4 months, side affects and warts still present. cyro them *******!
Avatar n tn Hi. I used Aldara for two weeks and my warts went away. I didn't have to scratch or scrape. I don't think you should puncture them at all. The cream caused some severe skin reactions for me (and it was on my bum :( ) so I stopped using it two weeks in for about a week and then when I went to start applying the cream again the warts were gone.
Avatar m tn d have a higher risk of getting an STD if the area is not covered by a condom. Aldara makes the skin raw and in my opinion will likely make it more susceptible to transdermal infection. My opinion is also that you should just stop Aldara treatment and try electrocautery or even natural remedies (which have worked for me) Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Hey Doc, I was diagnosed with Low Risk HPV(Genital Warts back in April, I had them treated with 4 treatments of Trichloric Acid, and just last week my gyno decided to stop the acid treatments and gave me a prescription for Aldara(I still have a couple area's that are not cleared up). During the time that I was getting the Acid Treatments my gyno told me not to have sex. She repeated this before I left at my last visit when she gave me the prescription...
Avatar m tn If I have your attention I'm assuming you have used Aldara or are planning on using it. I was finally prescribed Aldara after a few nitro treatments (some say it doesnt hurt, but I say it hurts horriblely). I have only used it for three applications and I have seen zero effects - as if I had never started using it. I have read that Aldara doesn't work for everyone, especially males... but I would like to know if anybody has had any success stories without unpleasent side effects?
Avatar m tn The recurrance usually appear when the virus remains at the base of your wart so you might need to keep using the treatment even after the wart is gone for couple of application...
Avatar f tn I was prescribed aldara about 4 weeks ago but was not able to use it continuously because I also get the doctor to put podophilin on the warts when they are visible and that sometimes cause the irritation of the area, hence, I had to stop aldara for a few times already when that happened. I had my Pap Smear done 2 weeks ago and the test result was negative. I also had Gardasil vaccination last week. My questions are: 1. My gyno confirms that I don't have any warts inside my vagina.
Avatar n tn It prob is a genital wart as it turns out he had one, however my one does not look anything like any pics I have seen. It looks just like a skin tag. Is it possible for a genital wart to llok like a skin tag? Also I am a bit confused and worried about meeting someone else and giving them genital warts. I understand most ppl have HPV and who knows, I prob had it before sleeping with my ex-boyf, however how does it work with the wart condition?
Avatar m tn Well they gave me a prescription for a 24 pack of aldara but i went to get it and the pharmacists were charging me $600+ for it. That is way out of my budget i was willing to spend 300 on it. The nurse told me it would be around 300 and i have no insurance. So pretty much i am just asking what would be the best way to go about removing all these tiny warts and the one bigger lesion one?
Avatar m tn s had some skin condition that his vet thinks is cancer, and said the main treatment was surgery, but due to his age (and, unfortunately, the expense involved--last year alone, she's spent over $2000 on vet bills), that's not a viable option for her. She did use a cream on him that appeared to temporarily work-- imiquimod cream 5% - drug name Aldara. It has 12 single application doses (each the size of a postage stamp).
Avatar m tn i am now under aldara treatment for the next 16weeks and already had 4weeks. nothing really changed yet, i have my second follow-up appointment with my std doctor on 23rd of this month, i will ask him if better to do cauterize or remove it. i am not happy for what i observe. will see whats next... better try it to u, might work better and fast! they say aldara takes time to work on your body. how is the procedure went during the cauterization? how long it did take?... is it painful after?...
