Aldara treatment for warts

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara treatment for warts

aldara

Avatar n tn After using Aldara for 8 weeks or so the warts went away and my doctor said that they were gone and I could stop using Aldara. About a week ago I noticed that two warts were back and my doctor said to continue use of Aldara. I was wondering how long Aldara takes to get rid of warts and when they do go away, how often may the warts reappear?
Avatar m tn i have been on aldara for about a month now for anal hpv warts. i had them cauterized last feb 8 and the doc put me on aldara for 3 months. my questions are: 1, does the cream cause a bit of itch even when it's been washed off or just when it's on? 2. i noticed what lookes like a "cut" near the perinem .around the anal opening..sort of like a small sore.. is that a side effect of the cream?
Avatar f tn I'm not sure why you were given aldara for pinched skin. it's a treatment for genital warts and molluscum. Aldara is very irritating to the genital skin. It's very common for the symptoms you've described to occur. ruling out herpes is never a bad idea but odds are it's due to the aldara. I'd get a 2nd opinion on the area you were using the aldara on and not continue using it until you get a better diagnosis than what you were evidently given the first time.
Avatar n tn He was the one who told me that a lot of dermatologists are in it for the money, and they want you to keep coming back for treatment for something that is curable. He knew that they had lied to me. He also knows I don't have OCD. And he laughed at the stupidity of the doctor who said it was a staph infection, not because the diagnosis was clearly wrong, but because if he was going to dream up a diagnosis to lie to me about, he could have picked something that fit the symptoms. 4.
Avatar f tn I thought that just meant that it was working, so I was off it for a day and went back on it for 2. It happened again, so I went off it for 2 days. Then I went back on it and tried to stay on it, hoping that the cream would help somehow, and the sores just kept getting bigger. I had serious flu-like symptoms, with fever, chills, migranes, muscle pains, the works. Now that I am off aldara, I have less of the flu like symptoms, but I have quarter sized lesions on my vagina.
Avatar m tn Just started a treatment of Aldara today. I always seem to have a few small genital warts on me. Does anyone know what I can expect. I am 31 and healthy in every way. I have been receiving cryotherapy for 3 years and they always come back. I was told that Aldara will help get my immune system involved in fighting the virus so I will have a better chance of losing the warts. Has anyone out there used thus treatment ?
Avatar m tn Your dermatologist has much more experience using imiquimod (Aldara) than I do. We don't use it as the main warts treatment in our STD clinic and I have personally treated very few patients with it. Please confirm my replies with your dermatologist. 1) The research studies with imiquimod applied it only to overt, visible warts. In theory, broader application might eradicate the more widespread HPV infection that usually accompanies warts, but to my knowledge this hasn't been studied.
Avatar n tn Finish all of the sachets and if it still isn't working go to the doctors and ask for a different treatment. Aldara worked for me but it differs from person to person because we are all different, you may want to try something stronger like cryrotherapy.
Avatar n tn I have one more week of treatment with Aldara (out of 8 weeks) and although the inside warts got smaller they are still there. I don;t think they will go away by the end of the treatment. Should I go back to the Dr for more Aldara or should I wait it out? Anybody else had similar experience with Aldara treating anal warts?

Avatar n tn Hello there, thank you for the advice you gave me the other day.I went to my doctor yesterday & he prescribed Aldara cream for me to apply on the warts/skin tags that I have on my face & neck area.Does any one know if this stuff really works,or is there any pre-cautions or side affects that I should be aware of?How long does it take to see results?I was told to apply this cream three times a week.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn He said that I did not need to wait for those spots to heal and that I could start using Aldara right away. Is this ok?? Also, I am not quite sure if I have other warts on the shaft of my penis. There are a few other very small bumps that I am not sure of. It is ok to rub the Aldara over these spots even if they turn out not to be warts? I think my doc said that the cream won't really harm the normal skin, but it will seek out the warts if it is in contact with them.
Avatar n tn Hi, Aldara is iquimod and has been approved by FDA for use in superficial basal cell carcinoma and external genital warts only. Not recommended for use in case of hemorrhoids. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.
Avatar m tn Hello, For small warts several medications(like podophyllum resin, Podofilox (Condylox), Trichloroacetic and bichloroacetic acids, Imiquimod 5% cream and interferons) are available, which can be applied directly to the surface of the warts.Other treatment options include electrical cautery, surgical removal, Carbon dioxide laser treatment and electrodesiccation.
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar f tn So I had my appointment with my doctor today, after multiple treatments with acid and condylox my warts are still present. She prescribed me Aldara and tells me this will work for sure no doubt. Anybody on here have experience with Aldara. I am tired of going through treatment it has been 6 months of no improvement.
Avatar f tn Recently (5/28) diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum and besides from cryotherapy for treatment i also received Aldara cream 5%. (the derm did not get every lump/wart with the liquid nitrogen) Questions I have about this is; How effective is it to be used? Should I apply it with a finger or would a Q-Tip be better or should it be something else? How exactly does it work?
Avatar m tn aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream... you should apply petrolium jelly (vaseline) or some other moisturizer to help your pain relief and...
Avatar m tn Good lord I would love some more Aldara for my tiny warts I have left. I am being denied treatment though.
Avatar f tn I have been using Aldara cream for two weeks now, and surprisingly my warts are gone. But I now notice that the area where the warts used to be is very red. I don't know if that is supposed to happen or not but should I continue using the cream? I don't want to kill anymore skin cells then I have to..
Avatar n tn I am not familiar with either a wrong lab test for genital warts or a scar from Aldara. If the test was a biopsy (I can't think of another relevant one), then the result is almost never definitive one way or another only suggestive. As for Aldara, it can cause irritation, but not a linear scar, at least so far as I know. I thin k you need a skin doctor to look at you and tell you what's actually going on.
Avatar n tn Ive been on aldara (imiquimod) 5% for approximately 2 months now. I cant notice if im seeing any improvement with my genital warts. However, ive developed a ridiculous rash around the application site. which is extremely red and irritated. The rash looks almost like if i ran really fast and slid my knee on a rug, except its around the base of my penis. Its sometimes itchy and i feel as if at sometimes its developing a particular scab. will this redness ever go away?
Avatar m tn Hello, Aldara cream or Imiquimod is used for treatment of actinic keratosis, warts and topical treatment of biopsy-confirmed, primary superficial basal cell carcinoma (sBCC) in immunocompetent adults. It is still not confirmed whether your mole is a malignancy or a mole. I would suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist. Confirmation can be done by excisional biopsy with narrow margins.
Avatar n tn I really dont understand it, but evidently the bad cells are thru 3 layers of the vaginal wall. My dr prescribed Aldara vaginally, twice a week for 12 weeks. I've had my 4th treatment, and I'm not having fun. Within 24 hours after teatment I am crying in pain, muscle aches, joint pain, my skin over my whole body hurts. I also have vaginal itching, burning, but its not that bad. I also am having nausea, with upset stomach and vomiting. About 48 hours after the treatment, i begin to feel better.
Avatar f tn Im taking Aldara or m GW its been a lil ova a week and it just started burning around my out breaks is this normal like when water hits it something like dat. is this normal should it burn. its like a burning itching feeling. should i call my doctor or is this suppost to happen?
Avatar f tn There are many treatments for warts, some go away on their own, there are natural options (google to find those), a doc (gyn, dermatologist, clinic) can help with finding what treatment is right for you. I have done acid and now will start an RX called Aldara. Other options include laser and burning.
Avatar n tn the best thing i can tell u to do is see your dermatologist b/c there are other ways for the warts to be treated then with aldara and i havent seen them for bout 2 yrs now
Avatar n tn Over 90% of people who contract genital warts clear the virus within 2 years. It does take longer for some, and it is entirely dependent on your immune system's response. Still ,13 years seems like a long time. Perhaps your doctor can recommend a dermatologist or other specialist that will be able to help you. You may also want to get another diagnosis. Make sure that you are treating actual warts.
Avatar m tn Liquid nitrogen cryotherapy is possibly the most effective treatment and you should have as many treatments as required to get rid of all the warts, and get the treatment as soon as you get a recurrence. That will weaken the viruses and your immune system will eventually eradicate them. Obviously it is important to keep healthy, making sure that your immune system remains strong, and you might need to exclude any underlying condition that might explain why you have a weak immunity.
