Aldara for skin cancer

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara for skin cancer

Avatar f tn Also you should only use the cream in small quantitys as it is also used for skin cancer therefore it is very strong. The skin in the genital area is also very tender. I used the cream for 1 week, so thats 3 applications before I had to take a break from it. I was so sore down below - burning, itching, stinging. Some days I couldn't walk either. I realised I had probably used too much cream and I should of stopped as soon as I started feeling pain. This may be the same for you.
Avatar n tn This year I got a BUNCH of new ones on my chin and cheeks. A new dermatologist said they were a staph infection AFTER I asked for Aldara. (15 years, remember) I got depressed, wondering if I was going to be one of those people who die of treatable skin cancer. I saw another who said they were warts, froze them, and said there was no topical treatment. I stayed in my house last week with 9 purple, swollen, weeping sores on my face from the freezing.
Avatar m tn My dermatologist suggested it to determine if my mole was just an irritation or a skin cancer. After reading the package insert and doing some research online I was to scared to try it. If it is recommended to me again I am wondering if I should use it. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I really dont understand it, but evidently the bad cells are thru 3 layers of the vaginal wall. My dr prescribed Aldara vaginally, twice a week for 12 weeks. I've had my 4th treatment, and I'm not having fun. Within 24 hours after teatment I am crying in pain, muscle aches, joint pain, my skin over my whole body hurts. I also have vaginal itching, burning, but its not that bad. I also am having nausea, with upset stomach and vomiting. About 48 hours after the treatment, i begin to feel better.
1067212 tn?1353964002 Recently though I noticed a large lump (baring in mind I don't have the strain of HPV that causes cancer). It wasn't on my vagina or anal area but in the middle. It was very painful and nothing like a wart. The next morning it got significantly smaller but it is still there and is tender when I touch it. On the aldara cream it states a very unlikely side effect is hard bumps under the skin. Is this simply a side effect or something else?
Avatar n tn I know of no complications with Aldara regarding Hashimoto's or thyroid treatment -- you may want to check with the pharmacist though to make certain.
Avatar n tn Is Aldara use a good idea for someone with autoimmune disease (for possible facial pre-melanoma in area difficult to operate on)?
Avatar m tn html?WT.ec_id=NCOMMS-20130305 Aldara is a cream used for topical treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer, and is thought to act through stimulation of anti-tumour immunity. The active ingredient, imiquimod, has been shown to stimulate toll-like receptor 7. Aldara also induces psoriasis-like lesions when applied to naive murine skin, and as such is used as a mouse model for psoriasis. Here we find that in naive murine skin, Aldara induces inflammation largely independently of toll-like receptor 7.
Avatar m tn I have only used it for three applications and I have seen zero effects - as if I had never started using it. I have read that Aldara doesn't work for everyone, especially males... but I would like to know if anybody has had any success stories without unpleasent side effects? I'm sure I could just apply it for the next 3 months, but I'd like to have a little bit of hope because right now I'd be happy with pain, redness, and itchiness, so long as the warts were being destroyed.
Avatar n tn Hello Everyone: I have been taking Aldara cream for just over a month now to treat HPV genital warts. The cream worked successfully on the warts on my anus almost immediately. However, I have a number of other warts around my vagina (mostly on the outer lips) that have been less responsive to the cream. I know that you can use the cream for up to 16 weeks and I have only been using it for 5 weeks, but I'm really nervous about these other warts not going away.
Avatar n tn This is no question but rather a clarification. I have been using aldara for about a month and a half, and judgeing by the topics, several others need some guidence. I caught Molluscum contagium, maybe from the gym, maybe from sex who knows, who cares. I noticed some very small hybrid of pimples and warts in my gentital area. So of course, like most of you, I freaked. I am a healthy 21 year old male who has had a fairly modest sexual life (less than 10 partners, no one night stands).
Avatar n tn He said he'd never seen such a severe reaction to Aldara.. He said for me to stop using Aldara which I already did. He sent me home with Lacoid Lipocream (hydrocortisone butyrate 0.1%) cream and told me to apply it to the "bump" 2x a day. He said to me that the bump could be a start of a cyst. He also cyrotherapyed off the two warts on both side of the "bump" this in of itself seem to irritate the "bump" and make it swell more. Well Dr.
Avatar f tn I'm not an expert, but from what I understand it is used to treat other things then just warts and has been used to treat areas of concern regarding skin cancer- as far as skin tags in the genital area- I believe they just remove them more then give you medication for them. I'd head to your local pharmacy and just ask them if they know of this medication being used for skin tags- your pharmacists are usually the biggest help when it comes to uses and interactions of prescriptions.
Avatar m tn What i can tell is that before using Aldara she feels very well. Maybee Aldara works for some people, but for the other it could be really dangerous .
Avatar m tn He's had some skin condition that his vet thinks is cancer, and said the main treatment was surgery, but due to his age (and, unfortunately, the expense involved--last year alone, she's spent over $2000 on vet bills), that's not a viable option for her. She did use a cream on him that appeared to temporarily work-- imiquimod cream 5% - drug name Aldara. It has 12 single application doses (each the size of a postage stamp).
1094370 tn?1317138425 I'm worried about that because the cancer is more towards the tip of my nose... Anyhow, I'm looking to see if anyone has had success curing their skin cancer on their face using this cream..? Thank you.
2206935 tn?1373642205 Most Americans are very low risk for dying from cancer (cervical or penile) or having HPV that does not resolve. Your conditions in India are different as the World Health Organization acknowledges. The US has approx. new 12,000 cervical cancer cases a year (mostly in women that have not had a pap in 5 years or more and in their late 40’s) and India has approx. 135,000 new cases. The US has approx. 4,000 deaths and India has approx. 75,000 deaths. Most women in India present to their Dr.
Avatar n tn Dear Dr, I now have the dubious distinction of having had all three main types of skin cancer; melanoma (nodular), basal cell and most currently, squamous. My dermatologist treated it with 2 cryosurgeries which were unsuccessful. Then, for 2 months, I applied Solaraze. That, too, was unsuccessful so she has retreated to rxing Aldara. I know it is not indicted for squamous and am wondering if I am wasting more time and should ust go ahead and have the Mohs on my nose.
Avatar m tn You'll see a fairly distinct difference. Also, the strains of HPV that cause warts are not cancer causing. As for virusessuck. Don't listen to him. You don't need a fricken' bone-marrow transplant or some magic supplement. The vast, vast majority of supposed triggers to cancers and autoimmune disorders are every day, unavoidable viruses.
Avatar m tn ok i had sex with a girl last summer an she said she had skin tags down in her vaginal reagion, alot of them , an now one started showing up under head of my penis, 6 months later , an i cut it off or squeezed off it grew back phew weeks later , then couple showed up on the bas of my penus an around my groin reagon both grew back sometimes would tak a week sometimes month but im currently in iraq an its april still have them i was wondering if they were tags or waurtz cuz ive had sex with my ne
Avatar f tn So this time I tried to use apple cider (home remedies) for about four days Twice a day for 30min and it is so acidic that it hurts however, I stopped using it right away when I sawed that some of my penile shaft skin starting to shed off. Then after few days it started to heal but the acid appears to reach the glanas (penile head) so it became dry and by time it changed and has wrinkled.

Avatar n tn Has anyone with autoimmune disease used Aldara for any skin cancer or precancer? What have your experiences been? (In terms of exascerbation of autoimmune problems; other adverse effects; cure rates.) thanks.
Avatar m tn They say cervical cancer can take 10-15 years for cancer cells so maybe it’s the same for the oral cancer etc for cancer cells to develop and then to multiply? Who knows. Farrah Fawcett died from anal cancer from hpv in her early sixties I think and Michael Douglas got oral hpv I think at an old age also. There have been women to die from cervical hpv at young ages like 28 and another celeb who got hpv cancer quite young but I think has survived so far, one of the ladies of hairspray.
Avatar n tn Warts found on other parts of the body are usually common warts which are entirely different from genital warts. You won't spread them via washing. 2) Aldara isn't for everyone. The truth is we all react differently to medications, what works for me, won't necesarily work for you.
786424 tn?1236466193 Will the use of ALDARA cream for the treatment of basal cell skin cancer cause a rise in CEA, assuming the ALDARA is indeed killing Basal Cell Carcinoma?
Avatar n tn It prob is a genital wart as it turns out he had one, however my one does not look anything like any pics I have seen. It looks just like a skin tag. Is it possible for a genital wart to llok like a skin tag? Also I am a bit confused and worried about meeting someone else and giving them genital warts. I understand most ppl have HPV and who knows, I prob had it before sleeping with my ex-boyf, however how does it work with the wart condition?
Avatar n tn 3 out of 4 people who have HPV don't know it and will never develop symptoms. There are currently no tests for males, and if its the strain that causes cervical cancer and NOT warts, there is no way for a man to know. 3. You can have HPV for years and years, and never have any symptoms. In addition, you can get symptoms (abnormal pap or warts) years later from an infection you had previous. 4. Just because you have HPV doesn't mean you will ever develop warts OR cervical cancer. 5.
Avatar n tn Red streaks suggest infection, not cancer. I don't see the need for a biopsy, at least not on grounds of red streaking. If the wart refuses to respond and causes pain when walking, then surgery seems reasonable to consider, even though this is not often necessary for plantar warts. I advise you to get an opinion on this matter from a surgically-oriented podiatrist. Many use laser or scalpel surgery to remove such warts. (The material would be tested as well when it's removed.
Avatar m tn I learned about the infection when 2 small warts appeared on my penis. I was prescribed Aldara to battle the warts however, I had some re-occurrences with one of them. When the wart re-appeared, it was smaller in size and I continued to use Aldara to clear it. Also, I’ve had plantar warts on my hands and feet since I was little.
