Avatar f tn Bathing the dog often will help keep pollen off of his coat from bothering, but really does little for true dog allergy. Bathing too often can actually dry his skin causing a bigger problem. I hope that helps.
689528 tn?1364135841 Here it is ...allergy season. Everyone is fine except the dog suffers. He's come into allergy problems late in life. He will be 9 this fall and he's only had problems starting last year. He had the exact same problem last year and I feel so bad for him. He ended up getting a hot spot and we took him in to get pills and a steroid shot. I don't want it to come to that again this year. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to control his allergies that would be great.
Avatar m tn One thing many people do not realize is that if a dog has a food allergy that it takes up to 6 weeks for that allergy to not affect the dog once the food has been switched over to another food. When you are checking a dog over for a food allergy, you cannot give him ANY OTHER type of food OR any types of treats. He may only have ONE food, no treats. Finding a food that will not cause problems can take several months of hit and misses.
Avatar m tn I just got back from running with my dog, and my right nostril is like really swollen on the inside and it hurts whenever I sniff. How can I cure this, as it's making a runny nose and it hurts really bad on the inside.
Avatar n tn t work for dog but with the old brand name did. So it might depend on the dog breed and brand of serum for allergy shots. But getting tested for dog allergy could be your answer too. If you react to their serum they can make up shots for you. :) Then you won't need antihistamine probably after 6 months or so and hopefully the allergy to the animal won't get worst.
Avatar m tn bt the recent studies shows dat cetrizene have sme side affects to our health, its already banned in US.
7945295 tn?1397658820 Do any of you lady's take zyrtec for allergies? I don't like taking anything period but my allergies are sever. I claritan with my son but I feel like zyrtec works better. I was told its just as safe but figured I'd see what you lady's take.
Avatar f tn If you are not confident about this Doctor then I would say get another opinion, hes your child... it does sound like allergy and this has been a bad year ..so take a second opinion ..zyrtec seems to be prescribed willy nilly ...he may need something different .
Avatar f tn I have seasonal allergies, and I had a dog for 13 years. I am moderately allergic to dog based on skin testing. For the past two years, I took Zyrtec (generic version) everyday because of closer proximity to the dog due to a smaller apartment. My dog was recently put down due to health issues. I decided to switch from Zyrtec to Claritin because my mild asthma symptoms diminished and Claritin packs less of a punch. I started developing mosquito-like bumps on my hands and wrists.
Avatar n tn Should we try the Zyrtec? I am scared that this is only going to get worse and I feel so sorry for her. Whenever her lip swells people talk about her. I had been giving her Benadryl when the lips swell but is that really helping her since it is not truly an allergy? I have a friend that says she has the same thing and she takes Zyrtec and Pepcid at night, she says it is the combination of the 2 drugs, and then when her lip swells she has to take Prednisone.
Avatar f tn Check with the doctor but he will more than likely firmly recommend Claritin and warn against Benadryl. keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I was told to take zyrtec. Now I have a rash on my upper thighs. Is it the generic zyrtec? Would the regular Zyrtec do the same? Have you ever heard of Diamox being prescribed for Meneire's disease? I find nothing in the literature about it and am hesitant to take it as it makes me very tired. I need to sleep about 3 hours a day when I take it. I don't want to experience vertigo again.
Avatar f tn my daughter would get bouts of that during peak allergy season (seasonal) and durin peek times of stress but it went away for yrs now that her allergies/asthma are well controlled.
Avatar m tn You may also want to consider taking one of the over the counter allergy meds such as Zyrtec or Benadryl. HOWEVER, do not take ANYTHING without checking with your doctor first, especially if you are already on other medication or under a doctor's care for anything. You sure don't want to end up with an interaction between meds. Best of luck - I know how it is with cat allergies - mine are HORRIBLE!
Avatar f tn I've been on Claritin/Zyrtec my whole pregnancy. I know Claritin is approved, I believe Zyrtec is fine too.
Avatar f tn HORRIBLE ALLERGIES! it depends what works for you. My doctor has gave me the okay on zyrtec, benedryl, and claritin. Claritin doesn't work for me so I take a zyrtec EVERYDAY morning, than about 6 at night when it start wearing off I have to take a benedryl. Hope this helps. & hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn I get hives and I take something that is similar to zyrtec for it. Cetirizine 10mg given to me by my VA (veteran affairs) doctor. It's safe. Get well soon. I know the feeling and it *****.
Avatar f tn I have my appointment next monday but i dont know if i can wait that long to ask what i can take for them. Is there anything at all i can use for nasal allergies? I feel like im dying from these sneeze attacks ive been having.
Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/childrens-health/zyrtec-child-allergies#talk-with-your-doctor Flonase is a bit different. I assume you were also buying that over the counter? This too is generally regarded as safe but is recommended to only be used 2 months out of the year unless your doctor has said otherwise. It's a nasal steroid. These have been associated with usually insignificant slowing of growth. https://www.post-gazette.
Avatar f tn For pollen, dog and cat hair try taking some antihistamine like Zyrtec (works well for me). For the food allergies, you just have to avoid them. Try Googling some gluten-free recipes.
Avatar f tn Can I take allergy medications?
Avatar m tn Never was able to find a cause but my doctor had be start taking an everyday allergy medication like Zyrtec or Claritin. Once I started that the hives went away and haven't came back. I would first see if you can find a common irritant you can eliminate. If not try taking Zyrtec or Claritin.
