Avatar f tn Can i take any type of non drowsy allergy medicine. I took a 24 hr non drowsy generic brand of allegra before i was pregnant? Can i still take it? I really am having a tough time with allergies without any medicine.
5574172 tn?1376700381 Depends on how far along you are if you're in the first trimester it's ok to take light pain med or non drowsy allergy meds i just asked my Dr and he said it's ok. As far as being further along i don't know.
Avatar f tn I hate taking anything because even brands that state they are non drowsy make me light headed. The best thing for me in the past was Allegra. But I only take that if my allergies are so bad that the inside of my mouth gets itchy.
Avatar f tn I use Benadryl (non drowsy) almost every day but when my allergies are out of control I use Zyrtec. If I have congestion, I use Sudaffed.
Avatar f tn Hi Cici888, All the more reason to get that allergy test done asap. In the spring, there is a lot of pollen floating in the air. Some springs the pollen count is higher than usual. You say how can you live without antihistamine. After I was diagnosed with allergies, June grass is my worst one, my doctor suggested that I take Claritin non drowsy. I took Claritin for years as soon as my allergy symptoms started. I'm also allergic to house dust and chalkdust.
Avatar m tn Ask a pharmacist. However, I took an allergy medication with zoloft. I took the allergy medicine an hour before my zoloft. It may cause more drowsiness but its ok to take. At least my doctor said it was and I was fine while doing so.
Avatar n tn I've had chronic hives for two years now. I was told that they are idiopathic and that it can last from 5-10 years. Yes, you read that right. That. Long. It *****. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome so I can't take any meds that make me drowsy so just been taking Zyrtec. I had every test done to rule out things. They sent tests to the mayo clinic and I saw rheumatologists, infectious disease, cardiologist, neurologist, gynecologist,, allergist....pretty much every doctor.
Avatar f tn Try Allegra I have acid reflux also but I have really had that problem but try Allegra its a non drowsy allergy pill you can get it a Walmart, Walgreens or wherever.
Avatar f tn You can only take benedryl, nothing else.
Avatar f tn I know that Benadryl is safe during pregnancy but that stuff knocks me out and the rest of my day is shot... Any suggestions on what other allergy medication is safe to take? That won't make me drowsy?
5449245 tn?1368135459 My doctor has told me to take 2 doses of Zyrtec per day to see if it will help the swelling, but Zyrtec makes me drowsy and I do not take it because I drive pretty much everyday and don't want to get too drowsy while I'm operating a vehicle! I have hypothyroidism & type 2 diabetes, and I think that may be part of the reason why my eyes have been so swollen. I have allergies as well, but they are mild.
Avatar f tn This morning I woke up and both my eyes was like this is safe to take my allergy meds or its not safe for the baby?
Avatar n tn I took one pill and was okay, yet, it made me drowsy. So, I began taking Claritin - non drowsy. That same night, I began to experience a horrible leg cramp and the following morning (plus today) had a tingling sensation in my hands/feet. The only thing I changed in my lifestyle was taking the Claritin so I'm sure it's all related (online it states that Claritin can cause leg cramps...).
Avatar n tn Good Evening, I'm suffering from itchy skin / allergy from what I think we're midges ontop of this I suffer eczema, so I trigger very quickly. I have a dr as a friend and she said as I am well into the pregnancy at 25wks 3 days she recommends zyrtec however twice now the pharmacy has said polarymime the drowsy one. Super confused and it's annoying me and I'm putting it all off only using and lathering calamine lotion on me just like a moisturizer. Any tips and hints Plz?
Avatar f tn If Zyrtec only helped a little, you may want to try a different allergy medicine such as Claritin. Some work better than others with certain people. Good luck!
Avatar n tn neighbors that they had similar troubles when they moved to this area from where they did live all their lives. I am still on antib and will start taking an allergy med (Zyrtec) tonight along w/ Sudafed, I guess. Bought some Alavert but didn't start it and the Pharmacist I called today (to ask about interactions w/ it) said he doesn't recomment Alavert b/c it doesn't seem to work as well as Zyrtec along w/ a separate decongestant (like Sudafed). So, I will try that.
Avatar n tn Cough drops are safe and I believe zyrtec is safe I would double check with your doctor about allergy meds. My doctor let me take zyrtec when my allergies got really bad I ended up getting a bad allergy cold one day I took allergy meds the next I would do cough medicine I couldn't tell if it was just allergies or an actual cold and I couldn't take multi symptom cold medicine only one that treated cough only.
Avatar f tn she needs to have an allergy test done, bless her heart also there is a non drowsy benedryl formula it is usually the blue dye free ones and it will say non drowsy on it that you can get for your daughter until you can figure something else out that way she's not sleeping all the time but also not itching all the time hope this helps
Avatar m tn HI, Mar 2018 I was fine. Allergy test revealed Cedar, Elm tree allergen. I began allergy shots, for a month, afterwards I began sneezing up a storm. Developed chronic rhinitis in the process. I've also developed montly infections, non stop since Mar 2018. Was on antibiotics for 4 months straight, last year. This year Feb/March been on antibiotics Amox/Clav. Each time, I complete course of antibiotics, I begin sneezing up a storm !!
503607 tn?1275671579 I guess it depends on the arrhythmia. Some of the allergy meds (especially the old, non-selective ones such as terfenadine and hydroxyzine) can prolong heart repolarization (QT time) and cannot/should not be used with antiarrhythmic drugs or certain antibiotic drugs, or if someone has prolonged QT time on EKG. The sedative allergy meds are most likely to cause tachycardia (I think.. my knowledge about this is a bit low.. but I'm suffering from allergy and I've tried most of them..
