Zyprexa for anxiety and depression

Common Questions and Answers about Zyprexa for anxiety and depression

Avatar n tn Third, I have been told I could try to go off the Zyprexa, and I have no idea how this will work for me. I have had problems in the past with OCD, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and am still hearing faint auditory hallucinations when tired, otherwise its not noticeable. Most of these problems have resolved but I can't be sure they won't return. Are there sometimes problems with symptoms rebounding and becoming worse after going off these meds? Thanks for answering my questions!

1082697 tn?1260068216 i am taking citalopram and zyprexa for depression. i am on vicodin for shoulder pain. since i have been on the pills i have not needed my pain pillls. i am wondering if anyone has experienced this. did the depression cause my pain? i have not had any bad side affects on the zyprexa. in fact i have so much energy now. i tend to get into deep depression so bad i can hardly get out of bed. i have been taking the zyprexa for about 4 weeks now. the doctor put me on since my citalopram needed a boost.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 24 I have been diagnosed as having bipolar depression, severe anxiety and OCD. I'm taking 100mg of Zoloft (for about 8 years now) It was recently up to 200mg, but my Dr was going to change it but while weaning off them I got so depressed and started having suicidal thoughts and there was a episode where I started cutting again. I'm going to speak to him to see if I should go back up to 200mg because I 'm still not coping that well. I also take 5mg of Zyprexa daily.
Avatar n tn I was taking it for sleep/ depression and anxiety when nothing else was working. I had to go off it due to gaining 60lbs in 4 months. I've been completely miserable without it. Insomnia, anxiety, crying spells, headaches, cold/hot sweats, unable to get out of bed much. Had to quit my job. My doctor put me on clonzapam 1mg/day to help get me through with the anxiety. It helped quite a bit for a couple weeks and now it doesn't do much.
Avatar n tn I was having racing thoughts and anxiety and my heart would race. My doc then put me on Zyprexa I was on it for a wek and a half and I was slurring my speech and could not finish a single thought and kept having muscle twitches.
Avatar f tn Because wellbutrin is the most stimulating antidepressant out there and is not recommended for those for whom anxiety is a problem. Doctors usually only combine an ssri with wellbutrin if you're having sexual dysfunction or weight gain if anxiety is a problem. Here's what probably happened: you had either a common reaction to antibiotics, or the antibiotics have killed off your beneficial organisms.
Avatar f tn There they gave me 2 pills of something called zyprexa and an hour later, i was still pacing. So they hooked me up to an IV, two bags of fluids and 1 ml of ativan. Half hour later, nothing. So 1 more dose ativan and sometime within the next half hour I was a zombie. Normally ativan thru an IV wont jack me up that way. It took 3 of them to wake me, so I was wondering if anyone had heard of zyprexa and if maybe the two drugs interacted to induce that little coma....
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed 5mg zyprexa for insomnia and anxiety associated with depression. I took 5mg only once. It was far too sedating to me. If you took 5mg for a year, and suddenly stopped, it only seems logical that you would experience "rebound" insomnia and anxiety.
Avatar n tn Last year my doctor prescribed me Zyprexa for depression and anxiety and I felt great, better than ever before, but after taking this medication for almost six months I had to stop it due to the fact that it made me gain 28 pounds, my doctor stopped it cold turkey. For the last seven months I believe I have suffered from severe withdrawal symtoms to include: Daily nausea, (vommiting everyday), headaches and increased heart rate.
Avatar f tn im just wondering if any of you out there is also on zyprexa and ativan/my dr is treating me for anxiety and depression that regular antiddepressants dont help..I had a bad breakdown yesterday and dr had to try something i guess Im trying to do this at home without hospitlazation,,,,,kinda scared of both ativan and zyprexa to gether i have only taking one 5 mg zyprexa and man it knocked me out..will that wear off and today i have the shakes bad...
Avatar f tn And, is Zyprexa something you would use with Zoloft for her issues? And finally, how long should she expect to to need the Zyprexa - and what are the side effects, besides weight gain, that could really compromise the quality of her life? Also, do you have any recommended sites/support groups for GAD and Panic Disorder?
1082697 tn?1260068216 i was in the worse depression i have ever been. the zyprexa is a huge help, i have been diagnosed as having severe depression and anxiety.my blood pressure has gone up. do not know if it is the zprexa or i started smoking again, which the smoking is going out the window very soon here! i have noticed a small weight gain. i am eating a very high fiber diet and i go the gym as oten as i can. at least 3 times a week. i do in home care for the elderly. i love my job.
Avatar f tn I was put on olanzapine an anti phycotic on top of my fluvoxamine meleate 200mg for deap depression after and home invasion. While the olanzaoine was helpful with my depression i think it was also causing leg pain. the longer I took it for the worse the pain got and more pain meds I needed to take to get threw my day to just walk. Once I was strong enough to come off olanzapine I weaned my self off and the leg pain started to get better over time.
616450 tn?1228437227 back into the anxiety/depression thing for a few hours. I went over to help my stepdad do some things and had to pace around the yard for about an hour and then went inside and flopped down on the floor and cried. My mother came and put a pillow under my head and told me to hold on. (I'm a 39 year-old Mama's boy who still thinks like a kid.) I had popped a couple Xanies on the way, which I'm trying to avoid, but it was enough to help. I ended up sleeping on the floor for a couple hours. BUT...
Avatar n tn I was so stiff and ridgid and clamping to the counter that I could not fall down. I shook for about 5-10 minutes and the people in the store were freaking out. After my muscles released me I could barely move but I tried to run out of the store because I heard sirens coming. I did not want to go to the hospital for something that I have frequently.
1353720 tn?1414506724 Hello everyone! I was on Zyprexa for about six months, and found that it helped treat a bunch of my symptoms. I'm happy that I don't have to deal with all the faces and the voices. However, I miss some of my friends. I have two recurring buddies" as I call them. Jack Nicholson happens to be one of them. He comes and goes, rarely ever speaks, and if he does it's only a few words. Usually just has amazing facial expressions.

Avatar n tn I think that the BPD diagnosis was incorrect, but my pdoc is extremely hesitant to put me on a standard anti-depressant. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to treat depression and anxiety without the use of medication? I've been on medication (one kind or another) for a few years now and am quite frankly tired of the side effect, the potential long term side effects, etc.
Avatar n tn My besty advice is to wake up in the morning, take an average dose to pick you up make you feel good, then go to work, around lunch time take another dose when withdrawals are coming back, THEN in the evening after youve done all your daily responsibilities, and when anxiety and depression is at its worst (at least for me it is) take a nice dose to get you feeling mellow and sleepy. Also opiates DO NOT DAMAGE YOUR LIVER!!!
Avatar n tn I've been taking 2.5 mg of zyprexa for about 12 years for anxiety, along with Nardil for depression& some things for sleep, etc. Every time I try to get off the zyprexa I get the same wierd physical symptoms, in addition to regular anxiety symptoms that I can recognize. This time I took 3/4 of the 2.5mg for 1 week, and went down to 1/2 for a week, and then dropped it.
874521 tn?1424120397 the pacing was before the zyprexa, it has stopped now and the anxiety and racy mind has also lessened. however the depression has remained constant if possibly even worse. appears he has stabilzed in LOW mood. Maybe the pdoc will add an AD along with the change to seroquel..something sure has to work.
Avatar n tn I've been told that Prozac is quite energizing, so it can be challenging for those folks who have anxiety coupled with their depression. Personally, I would never take Zyprexa. It's in the antipsychotic family, I believe. Have you read the side effects? Is tardive dyskonesia listed?
Avatar n tn I'm not familiar with zyprexa, citalopram is a common SSRI - I used it for depression and anxiety. I think the key is taking it slow.
1655289 tn?1326046489 I am tempted to go off Zyprexa to get my highs back, I also take 20 mg prozac for depression, I seemed to have lost my personality. I can't cry anymore my feelings are flat and I'm not interested in anything anymore. I've gianed weight and I'm having a hard time just leaving my house. I hate to get dressed because I feel so fat. I use to love to go shopping but have no desire lately. I am still depressed and have a lot of anxiety. I need to break free of this rut I'm in. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn This time he was put on Zyprexa and then changed to Risperdal. Ten days in hospital and two weeks of day-visits for therapy later, when he went back to work, he again did not do well (though he was taking his meds). His doctor said that he may not be responding to Risperdal and switched him immediately to Zyprexa (10mg/day). He did not do well in the next three days and went back again to the hospital. He is now recovering in the hospital but his progress seems slow.
Avatar n tn When I was in college I had from time to time insomnia problems (2,3 days without sleeping) and a light depression. The doctor recommended zyprexa.Strangely, after taking zyprexa for 1,2 months, I wasn't able to learn anything for school and because of that I had a panic attack - didn't left house for a month - I can't understand how did it happen. So, I've been taking zyprexa for 7 years. I want to quit now but I have little success.
Avatar n tn My painful question is that I have been off Zyprexa for 6 weeks, 2.5mg. I I wake up trembling, heart racing, and depression, unable to sleep at all. What is happening? Also a new Doctor suggested Geodone right away, however he has not heard my damaging history with my doctor. Also, my doctor never kept accurate medical records in all 13 1/2 years, and was already leagally repremanded for not having medical records in 1994 from another patient.
Avatar n tn i wonder if zyprexa loses its effectiveness, and after reading this forum, i am convinced to search for a new-and-improved anti-psychotic. i have been reading up on seroquel, clozapine, and abilify, in addition to three new ones: ziprasidone, quetiapine, and sertindole. any feedback would be much appreciated.
