I have a question. I was diagnosed years ago with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety Attacks and Agoraphobia. I had a discussion tonight with a friend who keeps saying I do it to myself. I have had this along with a diagnosis of ADD as well as Bipolar 2 and then Clinical Depression. I was wondering if Anxiety is really something that can be controlled by the mind or if it really does need to be treated with medication?
I have a generalized anxiety disorder and a phobia of HIV and rabies. I went to get my blood work down and the nurse used a vacutainer to draw blood. However, the vacutainer holder was reused ( the nurse confirmed it is only the needle which is changed and not the holder as it does not come into contact with the patient) and now I think I will get HIV and I keep thinking about HIV until I get tested again at 3 months after the window period. luckily I have medicines however I hate this.

I tappered zyprexa very slowly (using 10% reductions from the initial 2,5mg dose - 0,2mg reductions) until 0.7 mg, then I do a cold turkey (not a smart move, I know). After 2 weeks without it, my sleep sensation become to return, but I was put on zyprexa again (because a anxiety attack - and my sleep problem returned).
Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism. I have also been told by a highly rated local psychiatrist that I have the worst anxiety he has ever seen. No therapist or psychologist can help, some even say out loud that I “perplex” them or to look somewhere else.

Well, I was previously diagnosed with depression and generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks. My new doc says that I am bipolar. I dont' think I am. she said that the anxiety that I have been having is a part of the mania. I am no effexor and have previously been on prozac, paxil and lexapro. I thought you werent supossed to be on antidepressants if you are bipolar? Now Im on lamictal 200mg (mood stabilizer), 37.
I’m agoraphobic , panic disorder , bipolar depression. I’m prescribed Effexor 225 er. Zyprexa (15) makes me too tired though, amitryptiline 150 for sleep mirtazipine 15for sleep. Gabapentin400 mg 4 times a day for anxiety. I have trouble getting out of bed when my daughter isn’t here with me. That’s the only good thing about me is I’m a great father with 50/50 custody. I also am a former addict .

Something that was insisted upon rather than my choice and just so you know I have bi-polar 1 with an anxiety disorder also.
I was made to feel as if it was illness rather and a panic attack even though I had never had one like that before.I was prescribed an anti anxiety medication but they were still an issue at times for around 5/6 days.
It does sound like things are starting to settle down for you so stick with it.

Benzodiazepines have robust efficacy in the short-term management of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), but were not shown to be effective in producing long-term improvement overall. Although benzodiazepines are much safer in overdose than their predecessors, the barbiturates, they can still cause problems in overdose.
You can have generalized, and consistent symtoms of anxiety, called generalized anxiety disorder GAD, without having just panic attacks, or panic disorder. Your symtpoms sound a bit more on the severe or distressing side of anxiety disorders. My questions and suggestions would be, if this is the first time you are experiencing this, yes it could be anxiety, but go to the doctor urgently to be sure it's not serious.

My main diagnosis is generalized anxiety disorder, with depression being secondary. Generally, my depression is low level, like yours (Dysthymia), but there have been times in my life when I've experienced a major depressive episode. Anyway, I HAVE tried Abilify with Effexor XR. I had to stop taking it because it gave me restless leg syndrome. I couldn't sit still. It may not affect you that way, but that's what it did to me. That was the only negative side effect.
It can be prescribed to treat many different mental illnesses and mood disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression. Have you been diagnosed with a certain disorder, or is this med being recommended for your mental state during w/d?
There are some considerations when on Zyprexa, you will have to have occasional blood work done, as Zyprexa can cause high blood sugar, increased cholesterol and lipids.
I took it for Generalized Anxiety disorder, my mom still takes it for full blown panic attack disorder and both of us know it may help you fall asleep but it won't necessarily help you get quality sleep. Have you tried any alternatives? I understand by the way, I have depression, anxiety, PTSD, all kinds of fun stuff!
My doctor says I have GAD (Generalized Eating Disorder). But Im experienceing other symptoms that Im afraid may have something more to it. Migranes, Dry heaving, nausea, Sharp pains in my chest and upper abdomen, loss of appetite. Help Please!
During hospitalization he was put on Praxil (sp) and Zyprexa, with additional anxiety medication as needed. Although he never experienced the severe manic episodes typical of Bipolar, he did get extremely depressed and became very paranoid. His thinking patterns lacked logic and were a bit removed from reality. For example he developed a fear of driving and of things being wrong with the house that might harm his daughter and spouse, though nothing was wrong.
Here is my concern.
