Do you have any history of high blood pressure, or heart disease? If so, you may want to just play it on the safe side and get checked. In the very least, give your PCP a call and explain the symptoms. It very well is likely nothing to be concerned about, but it is always better to err on the side of caution when having these kinds of symptoms.
Also, are you diabetic? Zyprexa can increase your blood sugar, and although you have only been on it briefly...
The wired thing is it doesn’t happen every time but I’m thinking that’s because I get right to sleep before the reaction occurs. I feel like I have low blood pressure or low blood sugar when it happens, so I end up getting up and eating something sweet and drinking a glass of milk. It is miserable! Benadryl seems to knock the edge off of the tension and movement but I will still feel like my skin is crawling and like I have low blood pressure or low blood sugar.
I have been to see pdoc today after having a bit of a wobble following 2 months off medication (did not go cold turkey, did it over 3 months). She has prescribed me Zyprexa but I am really scared about taking it, I really don't want to gain weight - I am still trying to lose the weight I gained on Depakote.

I took zyprexa for 4 years, gained 50lbs while taking it and developed sugar metabolism problems. After I quit zyprexa, my general doctor, prescribed metformin, which helped me lose the additional weight. But it seems that the sugar metabolism problems are here to stay.
When I look back, I wished I was given other options to Zyprexa. In my case the benefits were not worth the side effects.

I have been taking Zyprexa 5 mg along with Prozac 60 mg for the past 3 months. I have been on Prozac for the past 12 years. On Zyprexa I began to experience Edema and weight gain, which was not great considering I have battled an eating disorder for the past 18 years. I called my doctor and he told me to just stop taking the zyprexa and the edema would go away. I asked him if I should wean down and he said no that there are no withdrawal symptoms.
I started 5 Mgs of zyprexa about 5 days ago for psychosis, mostly "ideas of reference" the zyprexa is now added to my seroquel since I weaned off invega. So far, I am having less ideas of reference but not totally gone. Didn't expect a miracle in taking it less than a week. Can anyone please let me know their experience with zyprexa. How long it took to work and how it helped you. I would appreciate any advice and information on it.
my son take 7.5 mg of abilify in the morning and 15 mg of zyprexa. when abitatlify started to take. he is talking to himselff. is it bad . is it induced psychosis. he was on zyprexa -. foe 5months. not much omprovement. how long it take to get better with these combinations.
The doctor and my parents say that it is just that I am under stress from being unemployed and struggling with social situations at work. This makes sense since Zyprexa and or Melatonin seems to take care of it. Once my life is not so stressed out this feeling should go away.
When my grandmother would have surgery, her blood pressure would go sky high, nothing the doctors or nurses did brought it down. The only thing that worked was for one of her daughters to sit with her, speak softly comforting words, stroking her brow. As they did this her blood pressure would go down. I hope you see this.
My psychiatrist has just added Zyprexa to take with Prozac as the Prozac is not working like it used to work.I'm worried about the weight gain with Zyprexa, is there something else that could be used with the Prozac instead? Also until now I've also been taking 1 mg. Ativan in the morning and 1 mg Ativan before bed. Is it safe to use Ativan with the Zyprexa?
For the 2 years, he has been on the same meds, concerta 54mg bid, welbutrin SR 150 bid, depakote 500mg in am and 1000mg in pm and zyprexa zyda 10mg, within the last 3 months methylphenidate 10mg was added to his regimen for problems his mother feels like he is having at home.
Antipsychotics will all cause tardive dyskinesia and put a person at risk for diabetes and Zyprexa is the prime offender for diabetes. But when Zyprexa worsened my paranoia years ago and it happenned to a friend of mine I knew what was going on. But that's not a "common" side effect. As for "safe" we should be factual.
It seems to have me syabilized but now I have read about the countess thousands of people who have gotten diabetes from taking zyprexa. I have high blood sugar anyway, so I assume I am at high risk. What should I do? Switch meds? If so, yo what? Or, stay with zyprexa? Any advice would be appreciated.
