Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.

518117 tn?1429276273 s controlled easily with a light blood pressure pill - but she is 59 years old and as we get older our bodies change and our health conditions increase. As I said, I didn't hear anything of a lawsuit in regards to this drug, but even as a nurse, I will not talk to my mom about it. Her health (mentally) is stable and she's doing well, most importantly she is able to sleep because of this med, and without it she doesn't...
Avatar m tn There are some considerations when on Zyprexa, you will have to have occasional blood work done, as Zyprexa can cause high blood sugar, increased cholesterol and lipids. If you are at increased risk for heart disease, there may be some risks that you would want to talk to your doctor about.

Avatar f tn Is there a blood test that can tell how long a person has been taking zyprexa?
Avatar f tn It has been 4 weeks since I took my last pill and have not slept very much at all and feel alot of anxiety and feel like I have bugs under my skin and have no appetite. I find it very diffifuclt to make it through the day at work and my mind is mush. I was told to take 5-htp and would make a big difference. I don't know if it is related to withdrawals or the 5-htp but I really couldn't sleep when I took that, which makes no sense since people take it to help insomnia.
Avatar f tn You need to take him to his doctor and get all the drugs dose and timing adjusted. Also he needs to get his blood pressure and pulse rate recorded. In all probability, the BP is falling pretty low. Anemia, depression, hypothyroidism and diabetes could be the other causes. Take care!
559058 tn?1215810834 I'm bp, been on Zyprexa for 5 yrs off and on, gained weight of course, and know that it has tons of other side effects. But I know Depakote is not without side effects either -- like constipation, liver damager etc. What's worse? Plus, I know it causes weight gain also. What do you guys think? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Do you have any history of high blood pressure, or heart disease? If so, you may want to just play it on the safe side and get checked. In the very least, give your PCP a call and explain the symptoms. It very well is likely nothing to be concerned about, but it is always better to err on the side of caution when having these kinds of symptoms. Also, are you diabetic? Zyprexa can increase your blood sugar, and although you have only been on it briefly...
Avatar f tn Hello, I took zyprexa (antipsychotic) for 4 years and have taken cymbalta (antidepressant) for 5 years. I gained a lot of weight (50lbs), and started to have insulin resistance problems and high glucose levels. I was put on metformin 500mg once a day for a year. I was told that if I lost the weight my numbers would go back to normal. I lost 40lbs, I am exercising and eating healthy. My doctor told me that I could quit metformin.
Avatar n tn Benadryl seems to knock the edge off of the tension and movement but I will still feel like my skin is crawling and like I have low blood pressure or low blood sugar. But it is enough sometimes so I can get to sleep. I have tried to not tak seroquel and switch to another drug but seroquel is the only medicine that manages my bipolar II disorder so I’m stuck trying to deal with this side effect but sometimes it’s so bad I want to wake my husband up to take me to the ER.
698408 tn?1256958348 Talked to my pdoc yesterday about a long term drug. I'm taking Seroquel and Escitalopram at the mo. Seroquel is not approved here as along term maintenance drug and she has suggested either valproate or olanzapine as I can't take Lithium because of blood pressure issues and a possibility of kidney failure. I am very sensitive to drugs and usually take the lowest does possible as I get all the rare side effects. I only take 50mg of Seroquel and thats enough to bring me down.

616450 tn?1228433627 I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.

Avatar f tn A few years back when I had chronic insomnia and got very anxious and depressed due to the sleep loss, a psychiatrist prescribed me Remeron and Zyprexa. Zyprexa to get the sleep going until Remeron kicks in. I fortunately saw my doctor who got very angry with the psychiatrist for giving me Zyprexa as I was not psychotic and secondly there are very bad side effects from it.
401554 tn?1270213756 I was on Zyprexa for about a year and a half and I got a few of these murmurs. I was reassured that they were harmless and because they didn't especially hurt I was satisfied with this answer. Since then I have been switching around medications like a lab rat, and most of the others have caused me significant constirnation. The best for my mind seemed to be Geodon, but then again I was only on it for about 10 days before reading that it may cause Parkinson-like symptoms.
Avatar f tn Metformim is a medication used to control or prevent the onset of diabetes and/or regulate blood sugar and this is how it helps with these potential side effects of Zyprexa but you could discuss the specifics with your psychiatrist. What you describe are potential side effects of concern from Metformim so you should inform your psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn I called my doctor and he told me to just stop taking the zyprexa and the edema would go away. I asked him if I should wean down and he said no that there are no withdrawal symptoms. I started to experience nausea, which was a lot like experiencing morning sickness during pregnancy, then came the headaches, chills, severe depression and the pupil dilation. I felt as though my brain was being squeezed.
Avatar f tn Can anyone please let me know their experience with zyprexa. How long it took to work and how it helped you. I would appreciate any advice and information on it. I am bipolar 1 for 17 years, have been through a lot of meds, and unfortunately have to take many. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Hi I would like to know if after three years of taking low doses of sertraline 25 mg and 2.5 mg of Zyprexa the nausea and dizziness I feel can be due to the discontinuation of the meds. I was prescribed due to a depresion an chronic anxiety conduct. I also experience a bbit of tingling in my hands and feet that goes on and off switching around.
1082697 tn?1260064616 Sounds like that Celexa was pooping out on you and you needed the Zyprexa to jump start it. Same thing has happened to me on more than a few antidepressants. Lithium also makes for a good booster drug, but most people don't try it as an add on because they think it's only for Bi-polar.
