zyprexa

1134609 tn?1269272200 I took both seroquel and zyprexa for a number of years and had a problem with my legs. I was diagnosed with restless legs syndrome (medication related - a form of akathasia apparantly, or can be). The doctors prescribed other drugs to alleviate this problem, and it worked, unfortunately the drugs he gave me to combat the side effects were actually addictive and now I have the problem of giving those up too.
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed with bipolar 6 years ago after a head injury and was taking zyprexa. Soon after, I was hospitalized with pancreatitis. The doctors immediatly took me off the zyprexa. Since then I have quit all alcohol and never did take drugs. I am currently taking Lexapro, but i don't feel it is what i need. I am constantly tierd, gaining weight, have constant muscle pain, especially in my feet and legs. I still suffer from mood swings, the ups and downs.
Avatar n tn One perscribed me wellbutrin to help motivate me. (to treat the dopamine) Wellbutrin gave me tremors and highly agitated me.(akathesia). So, I went back and talked with a nurse practioner who said she would have first tried to increase the celexia from 40mg to 60mg. She said that the increase would start to affect the dopamine too, when at a higher dosage.
Avatar f tn She takes Zyprexa, and one of the side effects , as all neuroleptic decreases the dopamine release in the brain specially haloperidol, Since cocaine stimulates the gland that produces dopamine and unlike opium derivates which attach themselves to the endorphins receptors and… So, with a small supply of haloperidol I could counteract the effect??? Can you help me here?
Avatar f tn ve read that with schizophrenia the levels of dopamine are high and with ADD the levels of dopamine are low so it does confuse me unless I read something wrong.... I also read somewhere that glutamate levels are the main culprit for schizophrenia NOT dopamine... This is more recent research as well.
Avatar m tn i have been very lethargic lately,i take zyprexa 5mg,ativan 0.5mg,paxil 10 mg and procyclidine 2.
Avatar n tn It is supposed to be worse after long night without sinemet (requip 0.125 is given every other night and no significant distinguish between with and without it) Sinemet suppose to make motion better and it DID make her better before. Or Dyskinesia completely overridden others (but the Dyskinesia is happened in the jaw/tongue and I don't see any tremor in legs/feet) I tried to find a logic explanation, but no luck! Can this imply sinemet is no good for her anymore?
739988 tn?1386672969 Try 6 small meals a day with a protien and carb in small portions. I take ayprexa and I have lost 46 pounds and I am not diabetic I love my zyprexa and I am not going to give it up. I did gain weight at first on it but I have since lost the weight. It is possible to keep the weight off on zyprexa.
Avatar f tn Those are stimulatants with mood enhancing proprieties due to huge release of norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin. You could switch back to Klonopin which is the first choice for long-term benzo since you are now a potent stumulant. You have many options here tho.
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
616450 tn?1228433627 I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.

Avatar n tn If you're low on glycine and taurine, which help the body make the neurotransmitters you're low on, you need to check the quality of the protein you're eating. Glycine and taurine are amino acids, and along with tyrosine and phenalynine and tryptophan manufacture the neurotransmitters that regulate mood. I would look to your diet and make sure you're eating sufficient protein.
Avatar m tn Something interesting happened recently that both illustrates this and makes me think dopamine may have something to do with it. First, let me make it clear that I am not a druggie. I've never taken an illegal, recreational drug in my life, not even pot (and I was in high school in the 1980s!) On a couple of occasions, however, I have taken peyote with Native Americans. The reasons for that are another story. The peyote church I attended was in Arizona, several hundred miles from my home.
Avatar m tn Hi I would like to know if after three years of taking low doses of sertraline 25 mg and 2.5 mg of Zyprexa the nausea and dizziness I feel can be due to the discontinuation of the meds. I was prescribed due to a depresion an chronic anxiety conduct. I also experience a bbit of tingling in my hands and feet that goes on and off switching around.
1082697 tn?1260064616 Sounds like that Celexa was pooping out on you and you needed the Zyprexa to jump start it. Same thing has happened to me on more than a few antidepressants. Lithium also makes for a good booster drug, but most people don't try it as an add on because they think it's only for Bi-polar.
Avatar f tn if you're getting low in dopamine, a lot of folks try using the precursor nutrients, such as tyrosine, or phenylalanine DL. It's found in chicken, eggs, milk and cottage cheese. Tyrosine converts into leva dopa, and you could try mucuna pruriens for that, but dosage is sketchy on each brand. L-dopa is the last stop on the train before dopamine, cuz from what I understand, you can't "take dopamine". You give your body the nutrient and it has to make the stuff.
2033870 tn?1329481339 Just do a google search on antidepressants and rapid cycling. I was ultra rapid cycling taking an antipsychotic, lamotrigine, and wellbutrin. I only started getting better when I did the research on antidepressants and insisted that I no longer take them. Very odd medication choices. I've taken neurontin but it was for pain related issues not mood. Have you been unable to take standard medication like lamotrigine, lithium, or diprovalex?
574118 tn?1305135284 Why I am asking this is that I was manic twice under a tricyclic antidepressant (anafranil which acts upon seretonin and dopamine and epinif..). I am worried that sometimes I feel depressed even under my mood stabilizer. So I fear to use this antidepressant again. But if the dopamine is the only agent in mania, then to lift me up I can use AD that are SSRI only.
Avatar n tn Why do u target dopamine? just curious..choline is a supp for dopamine shortages in the system...
Avatar n tn ve heard of people being prescribed the anti depressant Wellbutrin to make use of the naturally occurring dopamine and norepinephrine. I know it helps some people. Maybe you should talk to your doctor. At least Wellbutrin has no sexual side effects. Talk to your MD though.
1848481 tn?1319676852 However what you are describing is unusual and potentially of concern so it would be worthwhile to speak to your psychiatrist and they can see whether the Zyprexa is just not treating what it was prescribed for yet as it was just started or if it is worsening things and what the specific cause of the insomnia is as that can be treated as well. Also keep a mood tracker and sleep tracker and see how things are on a daily basis and how they change and print out the results for your psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn It has been 4 weeks since I took my last pill and have not slept very much at all and feel alot of anxiety and feel like I have bugs under my skin and have no appetite. I find it very diffifuclt to make it through the day at work and my mind is mush. I was told to take 5-htp and would make a big difference. I don't know if it is related to withdrawals or the 5-htp but I really couldn't sleep when I took that, which makes no sense since people take it to help insomnia.
Avatar n tn I took Ativan and Zyprexa together along with Lexapro with no problems other than being a zombie and fattening up my body to 116lbs--which is half of my two pregnancy weights. So--I got off the Zyprexa and now take Lexapro and Ativan (2mg) as needed. I really hated Zyprexa--it made me have a Turtle Brain....
1713187 tn?1368462822 I am on 75mg of methadone and i have been put on 15mg of Zyprexa. It is working great for my mental issues but i missed a doctors appt and ran out. I have been off of Zyprexa for 9 days now and was on it for 47 days only. The past 6 days i have been feeling withdraw symptoms. Shacks, stomach cramps, cold chills, muscle tightness, teeth clinching almost like it put me into methadone withdraws! I am sure thats not it, but i am worried.
Avatar f tn Hello, I took zyprexa (antipsychotic) for 4 years and have taken cymbalta (antidepressant) for 5 years. I gained a lot of weight (50lbs), and started to have insulin resistance problems and high glucose levels. I was put on metformin 500mg once a day for a year. I was told that if I lost the weight my numbers would go back to normal. I lost 40lbs, I am exercising and eating healthy. My doctor told me that I could quit metformin.
