I used to take zoloft 2mg. once a day along with clonazepam 1 mg. up to 3 x a day. My tachycardia/panic disorder continued to get worse with heart rate up to 120-130 just by taking out the trash or doing mild housework.
So my doc put me on lexapro 10 mg. to take instead of zoloft. She said I should keep taking the clonazepam as needed.
Has anyone had any experience with lexapro 10 mg. Thankyou.
Right now, the doctor wants me to wean off the Zoloft and next week introduce the Lexapro. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue with Zoloft (50mg/daily). I also have severe anxiety and will be taking .25mg of Xanax as needed. Oh and how well does Lexapro work? I have taken Effexor in the past for a few years, was awesome (minus coming off it!!)...took it again almost two months ago and didn't like it (first week was good, but then it didn't do anything).
s not a good idea to drink on a new med until you find out how it will affect you. I was on Lexapro for a long time and never had issues with moderate alcohol consumption. I now take Zoloft and feel dizzy and panicky with one beer, so no alcohol for me on Zoloft. Perhaps the combo of drugs you're on doesn't mix well with alcohol. Are you to stay on both drugs long term or will you wean off amtriptyline and just take Lexapro?
What is not good is to be taking both the Zoloft and Lexapro together. At this point your dosage of Zoloft is low enough that you can discontinue it completly and keep taking the Lexapro. The Zoloft in your system will take a good week to completly wash from your system. In the mean time the Lexapro that your taking will take over where the Zoloft left off.
In another month when the Lexapro is at full efectivness, then you may be able to get off that Klonopin.
Even when switching from one SSRI to another, I have always found it better to do at least a short taper off before introducing the new SSRI.
The info you received regarding how long it will take for Zoloft to start working is IMO wrong. Just because lexapro is an SSRI and Zoloft is an SSRI doesn't mean that it will work instantly. You can expect the Zoloft to still take 3 to 6 weeks before it is fully effective.
Normally they up the mgs to see if it works well. And with most people on lexapro the doctor played with the mgs to see if it worked. I have been on every med out there for anxiety and depression and by far...... lexapro worked the best after getting my mgs right, but i have to admit it was rough in the begining. I would think the zoloft should kick in in 2 weeks or so.
I say try Zoloft, if it failes to give 100% relief the add Effexor XR with the Zoloft. Low dosage 75Mgs a day XR. It will kick the depression in the ***, which in turn usually reduces the Anxiety. A good Combo, Just my Opinion.
My symptoms were much like yours so I'm just telling you what worked for me for a good long while.
I know people on it who are doing very well and I know people who have been on zoloft and switched to lexapro but had to go back to zoloft. I am also going through menopause. My started going to a new dr. and he said he would like me to go on lexapro and told me how to start to wean off of zoloft. The fears are have are, I'm scared lexapro causes high blood pressure, weight gain, and I'm scared its not going to work as well as the zoloft.
He has suggested a switch in my medication and wants me to start a samll dose 12mg of Zoloft today for a week to see how my body reacts to it. If all goes well then he would increase the Zoloft and eventually take me of the Lexapro. He has also indicated that I could take the Kolonopin twice daily to help with the anxiety. I am very nervouse of this change. Just the thought of taking the Zoloft had increased my anxiety and crying spells.
I met numerous other women in jail for DUI’s while on Zoloft, Lexapro and Abilify and others for shoplifting on Zanax. My depression is 100% permanently cured. I no longer ever feel sad about my life. I have never killed anyone driving drunk, I didn’t kill myself, I am no longer in jail, I didn’t get my kid taken away from me, I am not in a mental institution, and I don’t have a lethal diastolic blood pressure of 110 anymore.
Zoloft not the best for anxiety , Prozac ok if you took Lexapro try citalopram the meds older brother .
Still have anxiety and breakthrough panic attacks. He has given me the choice of lexapro or Zoloft. Since Celexa and lexapro are so similar, I'm concerned that the lexapro won't work given that the Celexa stopped working. On the other hand, he has warned me that Zoloft is more activating, which is not good for anxiety and panic. Thoughts? Advice? Similar experiences?
Also, sometimes (not uncommonly actually), people who once tolerated a certain medication pretty well, have a much harder time adjusting to it during subsequent courses of treatment. That happened to me with Lexapro. I just could NOT tolerate it when I tried to go back on it after years being off.
So, how long all together have you been back on the Zoloft? Are you feeling ANY better overall, minus the possible hormonal symptoms?
well I can say I got off lexipro because I was taking 10mg of lexipro and 300 mg of welbutrin a day, then i switched to Zoloft (the generic of zoloft) It does not make you fat, it actually controls your eating, also it helps me with ocd, anxiety, ect. just incase of anxiety I take zanax or how ever you spell it... anyways it helps me with everything, but the sexual desire, it doesnt help w/ that...
