Zoloft and memory loss

Common Questions and Answers about Zoloft and memory loss

Avatar n tn I used to take Prozac since my 18years old I'm 29 years old and I started Zoloft 1 month ago. I suffer from PTSD and anxiety! Zoloft Is not giving me any bad side effect beside diarreah nauseas sometimes, and loss of libido. But when you are natural depressed those are things that still happen in your body. I love zoloft, the 10000 thoughts in my head stopped, I care enough to enjoy life and be more relaxed about it. I'm still the same person, with same morals and believes. I just smile more!
Avatar n tn Would taking the two together have a combined effect of causing more memory loss and concentration problems? Would higher doses affect memory and other cognitive functions more than lower doses? Would Lamictal be a better alternative to Depakote for someone with Bipolar I who is having memory and concentration problems when taking Depakote? Any input or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Is there a chance of short memorty loss. My husband and I like to be intimate, and i guess last week we were intimate and i treated him to a nice experience;my problem is i don't remember any of it. Not on detail. I asked him if i was sleeping but to pleasure him how i did you can't be sleeping. but it kills me why i can't remember any thing about it and it was just last week. Is it my medication? lack of sleep? what is it? Now i wonder what other things I've done but don't rmember.
675718 tn?1530036633 my doctor told me that Cogentin/Geodon/Zoloft will cause memory loss I know a change is coming cuz I have a new doctor but anyway I been having problems lately what else could I take for my tongue?
Avatar f tn Wellbutrin is not an MAOI nor an SSRI, so it doesn't have the weight gain. From what I have read it tends to have weight loss. I took Zoloft a long time ago and became an emotional wreck while I was on it. I believe that each drug works differently for different people.
Avatar n tn I was also told that other meds may contribute to my memory loss such as Xananx and others. Although it is nice to know that I am not alone suffering this problem I am sincerely sorry that anyone does.
Avatar f tn I have began to suffer memory loss and to young also. I had photo graphic memory. i attribute it to prolonged stress and Drs refusal to remove me from stressor abuse and trauma to brain that was persistant. when i got to remove myself i had increased recovery of damage to eyes and other. i atribute this to stress on brain. if u suffer depression . your brain is stressed. doing yoga and other things helps. im in a place that things like this that worked for me do not and are hurting me now.
Avatar n tn Toni, It seems you are concerned about the difficulties that you have been having with your attention, concentration, and memory. Without evaluating you and obtaining further history, it will be difficult for me to make a diagnosis. You may find it helpful to consult your primary care physician for a thorough medical evaluation.
Avatar n tn Never heard of Zoloft/Sertraline being prescribed for memory loss.
Avatar n tn For the last week and a half I have been experiencing what I consider to be a great deal of short term memory loss. Such as beginning a conversation and completely forgetting what my point was. The thought is totally gone as if I never had it to begin with. I can't seem to be able to verbally complete a thought. This happened to me yesterday while teaching at least 8 times. It is very frustrating and scary and I am concerned about what is causing these problems.
Avatar f tn I have been on meds for bi-polar and have developed tremors and memory loss (phone #, SS# etc plus other). I have gotten off the meds, been a few days, and am scared that this will be a permanent change. Friends who hadn't seen me in months, came over recently and were shocked and concerned about me, telling me that I seemed like a zombie. My husband's friends are pulling him aside and asking what's wrong. This is NOT the normal me. The psych told me I could get off the meds, I kind of insisted.
Avatar m tn I read that Zoloft can cause permanent brain damage/memory loss after long term use... is this true?? That's scary...
Avatar n tn I, too have been on Lexapro for a long time and suffer from brain fog and short term memory loss. Finding words can be difficult especially as I am in the mental health field myself and am always going to seminars and learning new things and retaining information is so important. I definitely believe it is the medication, which is very helpful in other ways. It's a really difficult tradeoff to have to make!
Avatar n tn Am very fixated on death and dying and loss and am feeling pretty shaky about it. I keep trying to think rationally, but that's not always easy and doesn't always help! My pastor told me something about "annual disease" - depression and grief, etc., that occur the same time each year after a traumatic experience (like loss of a loved one - my mother died 2 years ago May 24 from a rare disease - cardiac amyloid). Is that for real?
Avatar n tn I can tell you that drinking alcohol, will AMPLIFY the "zaps" 20 fold the next day.... and if you have a hang-over, be prepared to go to the emergency room, i felt like i was having seizures. DO NOT drink alcohol during your weaning-off any SSRI.
Avatar m tn I'm having the same cognitive issues and I am often embarrassed by my memory loss, especially at work. Itt's really scary and I too am without answers. Is there a support group out there with a panel of doctors to answer these questions we all have? I live in Atlanta, Ga, so please let me know if anybody has come across a support group?
6783339 tn?1384761049 I want to know if anti-depressants can cause memory loss? I was prescribed to Zoloft when I was 9 then was taken off because of suicidal thoughts and actions, was put on Prozac at 12, added Welbutrin at 14, then I got off of Welbutrin and stayed on Prozac until I was 15 and then was prescribed to Lexapro and BuSpar at 17. Summer of 2012 I got off all anti-depressants and have noticed a severe lack of memory from my childhood and adolescent years. I find it hard to even remember high school.
Avatar f tn Could be a numerous of reasons.... Low IRON causes memory loss....and also LACK of Vit B's... Im not sure about Zoloft - but I know that there side effects are pages long...as with every chemical drug on the market... Think you need a thorough check up with your GP or even a neurologist..
Avatar f tn They only last a minute or so but they happen every night. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. Im 19 and im on zoloft and birth control and thats it. Im usually sitting down when it happens and watching tv or just hanging out. They happen usually after 7pm and I sometimes get them when I'm laying in bed. I don't know whats wrong with me. The doctors are concerned but I can't get in to see a neurologist until february. I'm really scared and I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Taking Zyvox with Zoloft can cause symptoms like anxiety, high fever, sweating, chills, memory problems, loss of coordination and muscle spasms. You cannot take both the medications together. I would suggest you to follow the advice of your doctor and discuss with him any concerns that you have. Please do not adjust the dose on your own. Xanax is a short acting tranquilizer and will help you with the anxiety. You can consider this option since Xanax does not interact with Zyvox. Take care!
Avatar n tn I get these dizzy spells at least twice a day, unbearable headache, my short term memory loss has gotten so much worse in the last few months(It was bad already because of the chemo treatments), I'm extremely tired, have mood swings, and noticed a bit of OCD (hand washing, extreme organization, the need to do things in the right order or it isn't right) is this all from the zoloft? or is there something else wrong, and if it is from the zoloft will it all go away?
Avatar n tn Zoloft and short term memory loss Marge 5/03/1999 (0)
Avatar f tn Typically it is started at a lower dose of 25mgs and worked up. I have been on it for years and never had those side effects. I had a bit of termors and increased anxiety while I adjusted to the medications but not anything like you said here. Were you anxious about taking the medication to begin with?
Avatar n tn i think maybe if i come of , the suicidal thoughts will flood back , but i seem to lack emotion or empathy on zoloft after so long , i dont know what to do ... memory loss etc i dont know if its the zoloft or other reasons ? any advice would be apreciated ....thankyou v much ....
Avatar n tn The tingling in fingers, the mood swings, the stomach issues, and yes the weight loss and FATIGUE. I am only on 50 mg, and will not take more. I am surprised that so many people want to use this drug as a weight loss product. This is not a weight loss product, it is a serious drug, with serious side effects that you have to live with for the rest of your life. If I did not have to take it, I would not.
Avatar n tn i've been doing online research and there is a direct relation with mercury and brain fog, memory loss, loss of concentration, depression, and the other symptoms i've had. so i'm going the next step to inquire about heavy metal detoxification. maybe some of you should look into the heavy metal test as well.
