zoloft

Avatar m tn I read that Zoloft can cause permanent brain damage/memory loss after long term use... is this true?? That's scary...
Avatar f tn My doctor has had me on .5 ativan 3 times a day an 100 mg zoloft for over 2 years, I am having short term memory loss, and pain in my side, I get dizzy and stagger if I'm late taking a pill in the afternoon. The ativan, cause I only take zoloft once a day , in the morning. I am scared and don't know how to stop this.
Avatar f tn I have been on meds for bi-polar and have developed tremors and memory loss (phone #, SS# etc plus other). I have gotten off the meds, been a few days, and am scared that this will be a permanent change. Friends who hadn't seen me in months, came over recently and were shocked and concerned about me, telling me that I seemed like a zombie. My husband's friends are pulling him aside and asking what's wrong. This is NOT the normal me.
Avatar f tn Typically it is started at a lower dose of 25mgs and worked up. I have been on it for years and never had those side effects. I had a bit of termors and increased anxiety while I adjusted to the medications but not anything like you said here. Were you anxious about taking the medication to begin with?
Avatar f tn I'm signed up for this forum. As I'm at a total loss I don't know what's causing this. I'm 33 I'm been dealing with this for 3 years. It ripped my life apart with work and home life. As well as my social life. I used to love my life was an athlete. It's ending everything I have pain in back of head near occiptal nerve and tingling on my left side. Its also cold feels like someone is pouring cold water down left head. The pressure is so intense.
Avatar m tn Yes, weight loss can be a side effect of Zoloft. Stop eating all the junk food, you're setting yourself up for future health problems. Also, you may have lost some muscle mass due to no longer lifting weights. If you continue to lose weight, contact your doctor about it. Take care.
Avatar f tn I noticed when the Zoloft added I started having the GI side effects (read diarrhea here!) and the sexual side effects (ED problems and etc,,,). The first time I took zoloft I lost weight then gained weight. This time , I've been working out and have avoided the weight gain so far.
Avatar n tn I HAD MEMOREY LOSS AND SEVERE WEIGHT GAIN. Avatar m tn Hi, I'm a 45 year male, that has been on antidepressants since I was 15 years old. Lately (over the lasts 6 months) I have been experiencing, extreme loss of short term memory. I'll be watching a tv show, it goes to commercial and I have absolutely no idea what program I was watching. When, say doing some bookkeeping, I will look at an invoice, and when I go to input the invoice # or what ever I have to go back to the invoice, sometimes 2 to 4 times...
Avatar n tn I like the person I am when on zoloft and so does my husband and kids! But I would want to die if I went bald. My mom suffers so much depression because of her hair loss!
Avatar f tn My experience with zoloft was, that taking 50mg a day, I at first lost a few pounds, and was ecstatic. I've struggled with severe anxiety, and the zoloft really helped me. However, after about two months of being on it, I began to gain weight steadily, until I had packed 15 extra pounds on to my small frame. I never had ANY trouble with weight gain in my life; if I started seeing the scale creep up, I could exercise and be careful for a day or two and it would go right back to normal.
Avatar f tn I have brain zaps when I am late on the Zoloft and sometimes just during a normal day with my meds. I take them at night. I am 54 now and am finding myself losing memory and feeling dead inside. It's not that I'm depressed. I just feel nothing. When I talked to my family doc about stopping the drugs he said because I am on a maintenance dose, I should just stay on them to avoid the horrible detox and potential seizures. I am tired of feeling stuck here because I'm an addict.
Avatar f tn above) of Zoloft may culminate to one or more slightly discomforting side effects; diarrhea, short term memory loss, fatigue, lethargy, etc. However in your case assuming it's short term (for a week or two), this really isn't even a consideration. Seek professional medical supervision in order to find out more about your case-specifics.

571167 tn?1223214465 I've been on methadone for 6 months. And I loose everything. Keys credit cards anything I set down. Forget to do things. Sometimes I drop my mom off and drive home, forgetting to stop at the methadone clinic. The clinic says "I haven't heard of that". I'm on 80mg. Has anyone else experienced this as fast. I am really worried, my dad died 4 years ago. From glioblastoma, which is the worst type of brain cancer and one of the symptoms is short term memory loss.
Avatar n tn You have received good advice already, and take note that Effexor does have a stimulating effect, and most anxiety and depression is a mixture of both, so Zoloft or some other medication may be your answer...as for memory, it's hard to diagnose from this information because it could be from the heightened anxiety..did you try therapy along with medications..if not, you can try the self help therapy I have pioneered at www.myvirtualshrink.com.
Avatar n tn My question is could the buildup of medications etc cause him to now have memory loss, language skills loss and tremors in his right hand. He walked in to the hospital on crutches and now is dependent on a wheelchair.

Avatar n tn Johns Hopkins researchers who have been at the forefront of this field reviewed the evidence on short-term and long-term mental changes after bypass surgery. They found that short-term confusion, memory loss, and poorer problem solving and information processing are common after bypass surgery, but are usually temporary and reversible. Most people return to their pre-bypass level of function between 3 and 12 weeks after surgery.
Avatar f tn But this forgetfulness is too much stressful for me and affecting my work and peace of mind. Even my parents are complaining and blaming me all the time for this. Could this be depression? I have a very demanding and insecure job in NGO sector, which involves on an average 15 days travel per month in different countries. I have a difficult life, with broken marriage and parents with extreme fragile health. I try my best to take care of them and I live with them.
Avatar n tn I am on effexor and am experiencing memory loss. I have been on it for years at 225 mg I am a practicing bulimic, recovered alcoholic, ex smoker and exercise regularly. I am 61 and eat right in the morning and day, but the evenings are always shot. my question is does antidepressive medicine cause memory loss?
Avatar f tn Vicki gave you some good advice about speaking with our Dr. The memory loss and confusion is very understandable taking ativan and going through wd. actually the ativan should be tapered. it is notorious for memory loss complete wipe out. usually through drinking with them but if you are dehydrated and coming off opiates it is very probable. Congratulations on getting clean and learning about your addiction and the meds that feed it. Take good care of yourself.
Avatar n tn I am willing to lose some of my memory fro the past in order to better enjoy and plan my future. I consider most memory loss as a cognitive thing and it is definitely a physiological and psychological thing. Bipolar plays a part but it would take me all night to explain why but a lot of it is nature vs nurture.
